Thinking about buying an Intelevision Flashback Classic Game Console, good idea or bad?

The good is that the controllers seem petty spot on to the originals and can even be unplugged and adapted to a standard USB for use with a more flexible platform. Also it has a good selection of games so the game value is very high. The emulation is pretty good and the video is passible with a more standard composite output. Of course it isn’t expandable and so you are going to miss a lot of 3rd party classics. Bottom line it is worth it for the custom controllers (which can be repurposed with some additional hardware) and is a great value if you don’t want to plunge into an OG console and cartridge buying binge

To me, “good idea”.

I have yet to play every game on it, but I’ve enjoyed the ones I have played.

I’ve bought some of the Atari Flashbacks and have had some mixed results, especially with paddle games. But the Intellivision Flashback has worked pretty well for me.

I’m hoping one day the Amico will eliminate my need to keep the Intellivision Flashback plugged in, but until we get original versions of games, the Flashback (for me, at least) is nice to have.

Just depends on your situation.  I bought the original intellivision more recently with a pile of games for $100. Had one when I was young but sold it . And I'm aways finding more games at different shops. Some games you wont find on the mini unit.

But if you are not into collecting the classic mini unit is actually pretty good from what ive heard.  They even have the inlays.

It could be cool, I never tried it but I’m saving all my extra cash for the Amico , 6 extra controllers and every single launch game on day 1 !!

I just wish that we could preorder extra controllers so that we have them on day one.

I would not be surprised if this becomes available as we get closer to launch; and if Amico is delayed, you may be able to buy the controller/charger combo pack at (or before) launch.

I hope so that we’ll be able to have extra controllers on launch. Having the controller charger pack would be great as well but hopefully the Amico does not become delayed.

100% agreed; but also 100% understandable if it slips - and 100% hoping it doesn't.

Thanks everyone for your input. Based on your feedback I just bought a new one off of eBay. This should tide me over until my FE and VIP Amico's hit my doorstep. Still hoping for 10-10-20. Guess we will know in a couple of days. Fingers are crossed!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll have 2 Amico's so therefore I'll have 4 controllers which unfortunately should suffice in these covid times. I wanted to have a minimum of four controllers so it's like I am getting my second Amico for only $150. That should make Tommy happy - he met his original price point on one of my Amico's.

Same here. 2 consoles already and my son is waiting for the preorder of the gto red so that will make us 6 controllers

Tommy...We're getting Stoked for Aug 4th Reveal...my hopes for the system are that we get to see some Physical Media, the extra Controller packs, the reveal of where to pre-book the GTO Red and of course the release date.

Come what may I think we all would like to extend our thanks to your team working tirelessly to try and bring about the 10/10/2020 date but we'll be happy whenever it comes out and we wish you guys the best with the stream on August 4th.

I haven't been this excited in gaming for a long, long while and it didn't take the best graphics, most horsepower, and major AAA studios...it took ingenuity, innovation, and the promise of gaming with family and friends :)

Cheers Amico's :)

A good idea, but it would make it an even better idea if you had your flashback made into an ultimate flashback HERE.  I have two flashbacks, one original and one ultimate.  The ultimate is HDMI so the picture and emulation are even better.  Not only that, but you can add games to it so it's expandable.  You can't get much better than that! 🤯

The ultimate flashback is a retropie conversion.  You could just get a raspberry pi, some usb adapters, and install retropie.  This way youd have both.

One more day to go.

Literally I was almost typing the same thing! I can imagine Tommy going over the footage saying More Easter eggs!!! Must have more Easter eggs! Probably still recovering from all the testing that went on. Hopefully he has all the feeling in his appendages as he has to sign a ton of things.

Anyone care to predict what the biggest surprise will be tomorrow?

For me the biggest surprise would be a confirmed launch date for the Amico. Whether it still be 10/10/2020 or later due to Covid.

We are getting so close to October I think that most of us are getting stir crazy. I've seen enough game previews to already convince me to preorder a founder's edition. Now I'm just excited to find out when I'll actually get to play it.

I'm guessing a Tron game might be announced. However, if the release date somehow sticks at 10.10.2020, I don't think anything will top that.

I agree. A confirmed launch date is the only announcement I really care about. Everything else is a BONUS !!

What I'm hoping to see tomorrow at the event is the console being turned on, showing the boot up & the home screen.  Maybe they can show the box for the console.  That would be cool.  Hopefully we get confirmation of the 6th pack in game as well as the launch date still on course for 10/10.  Also, I'd like to see what the online shop will look like.  Lastly if possible they could tease with the cover art for physical media.
