Love the idea!!! YES we need!!!!

Building on that (Credit Intellivision Master for this) I know this may be a bit expensive. But what about a controller keychain with RFID? A small amount of storage. Touch the "controller" to the console and it fills up with previews or messages that only keychain owners get. Fun things.

Great idea, let's just hope they don't eat batteries like Dreamcast's VMUs lol.

I can smell another test video... Dangling a tiny controller over a fire pit... BOOOOOM. Curly Q could photoshop that in 3 minutes!

Instead of a loud BOOOOOM it's more of a tiny "snap" due to its miniature size.

It's reveal day!!

I'm super excited about a lot of the things you guys have been chatting up.  I think OEB Pete's Bingo board is pretty close on some of those points, but maybe they weren't phrased correctly??  We'll see.

I'm most interested in the reveals of some of the games we haven't seen.  We've seen a good slice of Sideswipers, Skiing, Breakout, Corn..hole.. Moon Patrol, Astrosmash, Shark! Shark!, Cloudy Mountain, Missile Command, Auto Racing/Sprint, et al to have a decent feel for them (even if not going into detail of the multiplayer co-op or the variations and surprises therein.  I'd like to see the progress on some of the others readying for launch.

I'm also very interested in those partnerships - Hasbro (and with it, games from Milton Bradley, Parker Bros, and Hasbro brand products), Children's Television Workshop, Nickelodeon, Mattel... what are the unknown entities we should be excited about and haven't been thinking/chatting much about?  The way Cornhole and Evel Knievel are completely left-field brands that, actually, make the system stand out, and have an appeal to a slice of the audience who may not be thinking of a video game console but, they look fun.  Because those are the hundred Trojan horses I think are the different path to success for Amico.  We toss about "killer app" like it's a necessity for a video game system.  I'm of the impression it's our rereading of history and attraction to the bright and shiny things.. a system will sell if it make a compelling case, and a single 'Must Have' game appeals to a segment, but I would like to see whether a library of good games appeal to another segment.  Something for everyone over making the case that some one thing is going to bowl over everyone.

I want to see the physical mediums that will go on sale, and get a better understanding of the revenue avenues for Intellivision.. because I only ever hear naysayers talk about how these games can't sell to a large audience.. but I don't know that if we see little Intellivision tchotchkes at FYE or Spencer Gifts or Target or wherever, that stand alone $20 model of the Moon Patrol rover on a diorama card... is that an impulse buy for the shopper who doesn't even know off the bat that it's a game for a new video game system??  Maybe they thought it was a cool little RC rover of a game from childhood.  Then look it over once home and realize there's more to it?  Download the free app, play the game, get the odd promotional email from Intellivision... that could open up another avenue of exposure for the system, for the games.

So lots to look forward to.  I'm hoping to have a few team members in the spotlight - Tommy soaks in the limelight but there are really talented people I hope to hear more from, about their projects, about what's motivating them - not sure if any of that features in a highlight here, or if that rolls out later as Amico gets introduced to the wider public, but I'd like to see more of the team and their roles.

Hoping to see a good deal of the unique screen as it figures into gameplay.  Would love to see the welcome as Amico comes to life and the way the onboard lighting interacts during gameplay, or outside of gameplay.  Hoping for a glimpse of the store and an Easter egg of a game or two that hasn't been announced but we're going to see soon.  And really, really looking forward to hearing about a few of those original IPs that we just have no idea they were being worked on... the real surprises kept completely under wraps while bits of things here and there have been peeped and leaked and teased.

In short (like I'm ever in short..) there is SOOOOO much to look forward to today.  Can't wait to chat up with all of you after the event.  Happy Reveal Day!

Silly question of the day: How many people will be wearing their I'm a Shill for Tommy Amico shirt today?

Pretty much just a normal day for me: get up, get dressed, have some breakfast, get to work...

Ha, it took me a second to notice you made an Amico controller out of your breakfast. That was a good laugh.

I'm of the opinion that the "killer app," or the thing that makes it appealing, will be the controller. It's what everything on the system revolves around. The games are designed for the controller, and the controller is designed to be easy to use. It will make possible games that would not be able to be played on other systems. The demonstration of how it was used in Missile Command really opened my eyes to some of the really cool things you could do with it. The idea that the screen can be used like a trackpad means that all sorts of simple to play games will be possible. I'm excited to see what the team comes up with.

Maybe a delay because of the tropical storm?

So they had two promo videos to hammer home the date of the event, and then on the day of the event they change it?  That's madness.

And now the video is no longer available.  Hmmm....

Of course marketing people look at the news cycle, you don't want to get buried in storm news or have a bunch of media outlets offline on your announcement day. However is disappointing for fans & followers.
