Maybe you can get a Flying Tigers game on Amico.  Wouldn't that be interesting?

What is everyone's thoughts?  Would you buy the Series S for Cloud Gaming over the more expensive and higher quality Series X (which they are saying will be somewhere around $399 - $499).

For me, I would go the physical route.  I know the digital is cheaper but with digital games you're at the mercy of the servers having issues.  Plus you need to have a good internet connection as well.  Also, with physical you can trade the game in.  Not to mention that physical games are sometimes cheaper than digital games.

Personally I would tend to lean more toward the Series X as that is the more future proof model.  However, depending on how expandable storage is on the Series S, that could be a viable choice too.  That all being said, the console that I would more likely to pick up is a Switch over any of the others.  It just has a lot more of what I like on it, although the Forza series calls to me like a siren's song at times.

I am not an Xbox fan ! But the same question for Sony, Digital or Physical, I am going all the way Physical. This way, it will also be my 4K blu-ray player.

If all the digital games could be half the price, I would think about it. But no one will make this move before Intellivision Entertainment ! 😊

I also like to collect games and my favorite movies. The only way I will buy Digital Editions will be when Physical Editions will be dead ! ☠️🥺

$299, no physical media, no 4K, 512GB hard drive.

It looks like its focus will be on Microsofts Cloud Gaming platform (as 512 GB is only about 2 or 3 Xbox digital games).  This could be the final blow to Google Stadia as my understanding is the Microsoft cloud service is going to be much better.  Will be interesting to see how it all plays out and what the Microsoft monthly cloud gaming service fees will be.  They are definitely targeting a very specific crowd with this (who is pretty much for the most part the exact opposite of an Amico crowd).  I'm a little bit surprised that it will only be capable of doing 1440p in a world where it seems that the hardcores who would be interested in this would want 4K and people of that hardcore tech caliber are even starting to switch to 8K.  Yes, it upscales to 4K, but that' a big difference.  We (Intellivision) don't care or do 4K because our target audience doesn't care (and especially with the graphic style of our games), but I would think the folks interested in this would want 4K capabilities... especially over the next 7 years.  But who knows, I'm sure Microsoft has a ton of data and research as to why they made that decision.  My experience has been that cutting edge hardcore gamers expect and want the BEST quality gaming experiences.  I would think that they would wait to get the "big" Series X machine instead... but of course, without knowing more about their cloud gaming service, it would be hard to have a real opinion at this point.

I wonder why they didn't go with a huge 4 terabyte hard drive?  And then make all the digital versions of the next gen games 30% - 50% less expensive.  That would be a good reason to pick one up.  Maybe they'll be doing that?

Going to be very interesting to see how it all plays out though!  I wish them big success... along with Sony & Nintendo.

Honestly i need to upgrade my pc.  But im going to hold out til after 2nd gen vr headsets come out in a year or 2.

If i was to get an xbox it would be the series x.   Mostly because of specs and the reality  that eventyally some games wont support the s as most gamers will get the series  x.

But i gave no interest in xbox as a console, Because ms ports all first party titles to pc.

Sony is even toying with pc a little.

As of now  in all honesty  as a console the amico is in a tie with ps5 for me. Im getting the amico 100%  but if sony starts to follow the ms route and use  playstation as more of a platform  and not so much a console only approach.  Ill just get games from both them and ms on pc.

But for the home console  its all amico.

I have a wiiu as well.  At least for wii games. Wiiu library sucks outside of a few  titles.

Looks like a good move on Microsoft's part if nothing else just from the more reasonable price for a semi-next gen in a terrible market year. However it does look like a 'buy a few and stream the rest' sort of box with that hard drive space. Of course Microsoft and Sony went all in with fast load speeds this generation, so small but very fast storage may be the norm even on the big dollar versions (that may disappoint a lot of folks who prefer the assurance of purchasing games). It sounds like Sony may have come up with the idea as a differentiator but once the Microsoft spies got a hold of the news there was no way Microsoft would be seen lacking (even if it isn't as fast perhaps or as good they won't be far behind). This is Microsoft's generation to catch up and I think they are putting everything into getting closer to 50/50 instead 80/20 in sales.

Then of course there are the specs, which is definitely way cut down (the form factor shows you the thermal budget is tiny by comparison) and you know you are going to end up being a second class citizen for the game developers who are forced to provide 'adequate' textures, visual effects & frame rates to XBox Series S but are really targeting the full size console for a good experience. I doubt they discount games for it because with a brand new chipset, AMD tired of being the no profit whipping boy of the industry and a super fast SSD architecture (even at only 512G) they are probably netting zero on the console itself. So basically sell the razor cheap & get them on the blades.

Stadia finally has most of it's promised features in place (but that took over a year) but the software library is still very small, which makes it a very limited service. Microsoft's huge library to buy & a stronger streaming model (Netflix vs purchase) combined with a hybrid machine like this, is much more compelling in my eyes. So if your favorite game falls off the Microsoft streaming service you can still buy it and run it locally, which is a nice fallback position to have. Unless Stadia vastly improves on it's software library or gets a 'must have' exclusive, I still see them as a footnote in the streaming market. In fact for me it is Microsoft, then Sony and finally a tie for 'soon to be irrelevant' for NVIDIA and Stadia.

Pretty much guaranteed for early sell out because I bet everyone is going to be production constrained this year, but likely in 2021 I think Series S sales will soften. Because it is clearly a second class citizen, my theory is people will primarily wait for discounting on the primo box and better availability (it may be impossible to find this year). I have a feeling it will likely be closer to the $499 side (or a bit more) but I think a lot of folks will be saving up for it and hoping for some discounting on Black Friday 2021 unless it is just way out of their price range in next year economy. For me personally, I won't be getting either one but if I did it would be the Series X and next year (or maybe even 22)

I took a biplane ride on vacation in Arizona. I had a pocket full of hard candies from the vending machine. When I sat down into the passenger seat half the candies spilled out onto the floor. The pilot said "What the hell was that??!?". I told him what happened and he gave me a good verbal reaming about the possibility of those candies getting lodged into the controls of the plane. I felt like such a stupid ass. Fortunately we had a great plane ride without any incident.

Your story made me think of this scene in Tommy Boy! 🤣

I'm no longer the target market for an Xbox of any kind, but when I was, I would have spent more for a full-blown Xbox.

I know myself... it would bug me not to have all the options and flexibility.

Plus, while our internet data cap is pretty decent, I don’t care to have more things pushing toward our limit. (Although I have no idea to what extent cloud gaming is a drain on data usage.)

If I understand correctly Flight Sim will be coming to the Xbox1sx4K_2Bornot2B. If it gives me good performance in 4K, I could convince myself to get one.

On a side note, I am starting to see the PC-Elite Core already downplaying the new consoles with claims that their $1500.00 graphics card blows away performance of a $500.00 console.  I sure as Sh%t would hope so.

After all is said and done.. What could we do on an Amico for 3k? (Assuming another $1500 to get an i9 setup to take advantage of the card). Below are a few suggestions:

1)Buy an Amico.  A new TV. PM Tommy and ask for him to personally autograph it. Spend some money to fly out to Headquarters. Then Pay Tommy the remaining 2K for it to be personalized. He'd take you for a ride in one of his fast(ish) cars. I'm sure he may have one with him when you stop by.  Then watch him DONATE the rest to a charity.

2)Buy an Amico. 4K TV. Xbox one series X. PS5. New PSVR. a Ton of games. Fly out to another set of YouTubers. Let them know that Amico is just as much fun as the other ones. Fly back home.. And still have money left over to purchase a Switch Pro when available.

3)Buy an Amico. A new TV.  A gift card/store credit in the A-Mall (The Amico Mall). Does anyone remember i-Mall?  Roll around in all the money you save.(Alternate names:Amico Galleria? The Shoppes at Amico Plaza? A-Bay?)

4)Look at your PC that has a shiny graphics card. -Sad trombone sound- as you would have to spend even more money to get games that take advantage of it. Wait, MINECRAFT RTX!!!! Watch Youtube videos at 8k?

Not to cast bad things on the people who buy the newest of everything. If you CAN afford to get all your gaming needs met. Enjoy it!!!  Just don't be a [email protected] about it.

I was also going to see if you had any inside information on WTH happened here, but ...um....yeah, what little was heard or guessed (or seen in the filmed Australian concert) is really more than enough, except, of course, why anyone thought this was a good idea in the first place.

I'll likely wait til the ps5 digital only is available as that and amico will be my next consoles. Im a PC gamer too, so xbox stuff usually comes on there if I really want to play something microsoft exclusive.  I dont play twitch/shooters I tend to look for those unique new experiences in gaming. Looking forward to where Sony takes PSVR2 etc.

As far as this whole Xbox series 360 box S Series whatever, other than the worst naming convention of all time, I think this is all just to have a product within a price point. This 299 version smells more like a product born from marketing.

I'll be getting the PS5 pretty much just to play Ratchet and Clank, especially after watching a 7 minute or so gameplay video. Not an XBOX guy. My son wants the PS5 just for the new Spider-Man game.

I am locked into the Amico,I need to maintain my focus!

Although I do love Ratchet and Clank games too.👍

Overall, this Series S makes me raise an eyebrow:

Digital-only, period. If you want to play discs bought at retail, then you'll wanna wish you had blown the extra $200 on the Series X. With that in mind, and the recent "all-access" bundles where you pay monthly for an Xbox + Game Pass subscription, it really seems like MS is trying to get people hooked onto their subscription service, retail (and standalone digital games) be damned. Considering you already have games leaving the Game Pass service, and considering how little services like Spotify pay their content creators, this makes me uneasy.

If it weren't for MS's obvious intention, I wonder if they would consider a "Plus" edition, with the optical drive added back in. Could have a price range of $299, 399, and 499 with the entire Xbox Series!

BTW seeing people tout Series S + Game Pass as this breakthrough mainstream console, or even a kid's first system, makes me laugh :P

Personally, I'm not interested in any of the new generation consoles with the exception of Amico. It seems like what they are offering is just more of the same, but with prettier graphics and faster frame-rates. That really doesn't interest me. I was going through all the games I have on my PS4 that I've never played and came to the conclusion I probably never will. Why spend another $300-500 for a machine that I'll use mostly in the first few months and then it'll sit idle most of the time?

That said, if I had to choose, I would pick up the Series S, but not for Cloud Gaming. My internet isn't fast enough for that. I've never been and Xbox guy, but after seeing how warm Phil Spencer has been toward Intellivision, they're beginning to win me over. I would get a Series S and subscribe to their Game Pass service. That's it. I would never buy a game, just rent them. That way when I'm eventually done with it, I can sell it guilt free knowing I don't have this huge library of games I no longer have access to. That's the problem I'm having now with my PS3. I feel like I can't get rid of it because I have all these digital games that I can only access with that console.

No I'm already having a difficult time want to throw down $500 on the series x to play halo infinite when they said you can play it on current consoles.  So for now I'm good with my 1 x. I will say if the series  s is focusing on streaming games then the 1440p makes sense because most internet cant handle full 4k gaming on the stadia.

Hell I just barely can handle online play on my 1 x with my internet.  I had to pay for 2 services so my wife and son could play all at the same time.  If your internet isnt fast enough and you have more than 2 people in your home playing this next generation is going to see alot of angry customers.

Today former president Keith Robinson would have turned 65 years old.  Keith kept the Intellivision dream alive for over 20 years as president and first started working on Intellivision in 1981!

He is sadly missed by the many people who knew him and worked with him.

Here's a really nice video that one of our supporters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia made and released today in honor of Keith's birthday.
