Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

Hi Tommy,

If nobody has said so before, then I'll do it now: Thank you for bringing the Intellivision back to life.  As someone who grew up during the "Atari Age," seeing the classic Intellivision games renewed is beyond my wildest dreams.  I'm looking forward to finally getting my founder's edition in April.  Yeah, the launch date been extended out several months but figuratively I've been waiting **several years** for the Amico.  Besides, now that I'm no longer the kid sitting in front of the TV with an Atari/Intellivision/Colecovision controller, I have a stack of work until April that will keep me preoccupied 😅

Here's a little feedback for your marketing team: Because the Amico is working hard to portraying itself as a "couch co-op" console, some people on social media are unaware of the fact that its games also have a one player mode.  This issue could cause gamers who are single people, introverts, and the like to buy from Amico's competition.   I'm a fan of your console, and I want that demographic to know the joys of Amico.
Don't get me wrong, companionship can be great but some gamers enjoy "alone time."

I know that you're a busy man, so thank you for taking the time to read my feedback.  April is gonna be great!

Awesome, but I have a hard time imagining even Angry Pete using those fingers!

Me too! LOL

Imagine if Pete got permanently banned from ever purchasing or owning an Amico. This would be his response.

If they are looking for an official answer, I know it is made clear on the Intellivision Amico website as well as the Wikipedia page. If they scroll down to the Family section on the official Intellivision Amico website to where co-op is first mentioned, it also says they have single player modes right after co-op is mentioned. Although I know it has been addressed several times, some rumors take on a life of their own, so, I'm sure Tommy will appreciate your letting him know this is still a common misunderstanding.

That's an old one from the original lot sold by Intellivision Productions.  It's about 10 or so years old.  I also bought the black beanie with the purple Running Man on it.

Maybe Tommy could remake it?  It's a simple design, that's what I like about it.  In fact, I'd wouldn't mind seeing more like it... just like a car from Auto Racing, the Crown from Cloudy Mountain... a robot from Night Stalker.  Simple stuff.

I'll add it to the list!

Ahh ok thank you. Yes I wish Tommy and IE would remake a simple shirt like that with just the running man logo, and without “Intellivision” printed on it. I would definitely prefer a simple shirt like that.

Tommy, please make it so!  😊

Will do!

We recently put up a Running Man zip up hoodie (as a lot of people were requesting it) and it has just the Running Man logo on it.  We'll do more simple designs for sure if that's what people would like.

I'm not sure who here recommended the game Warlords, but I played it for the first time yesterday. Holy crap was that a fun game. I could definitely see something like that on Amico, and the disc would be a perfect fit for it.

Warlords will be started up soon.  The team doing it (Stainless) just put the finishing touches on Missile Command last week and we have it in final testing now (along with others).

We've now ramped up to having 2 in-house test team groups.  One in Irvine and one in Salt Lake City.  Our head of QA has a long and impressive history in the industry and even headed up one of EA's testing departments for many years!  Another one of our folks was at Square-Enix for many years before joining us.  Top notch AAA people!

For those interested, we now have 5 people in Salt Lake and it will soon be 8 people.  I think we're up to around 40 in Irvine now!  4 new people started for Intellivision this week!  Some operations and logisitics, and a few more engineers.

Some more info for anyone interested, we currently do not have an office in Irvine.  The lease ran out at the end of August and everyone was working from home.  We also outgrew it!!  We are currently renting certain workspaces for hardware testing and dev kit assembly (by our own team) as well as our UI engineers all in a space (as they need to function together as a unit).  We move into our brand new AMAZING offices on December 1st.  Looking forward to showing folks pictures of the place once we move in.  It's super cool.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... But what about the cloud? Maybe they want you to use the Series S with that, reducing the storage needs?

I believe that is the big point of the Series S.  Probably the reason it's not 4K or as powerful as well (because you don't need that for cloud streaming).  I think this is their counter to Google Stadia.

Will be interesting to see how it does in the marketplace and how well received "cloud gaming" is over the next 3 - 4 years.

@Urlu Berlu asked about the Willy Wonka notebook.

There are a few still available here.
https://www.amazon.com/Willy-Wonka-Journal-not-machine-specific/dp/B06XZCCSZ8

Looks like they'll be impossible to find shortly.

I bought a bunch of them so I never run out.  :)

This is another one I have this is super cool:

Hahaha!  On one of my live interviews I saw him in the chat and mentioned that I love it when he makes videos from random places around town.

Good stuff.  :)
