Yeah, this is pretty neat. I've already downloaded it off Steam, so I'd better play it sometime.

From what I'm reading online, particularly this thread on Twitter, it sounds like this reboot had some pretty crappy management:

So I always abide by the rule of five when buying a new console- it’s gotta have 5 exclusive games that look awesome. Thus far Amico has three that look really good to me- Cornhole, Nightstalker, and Breakout.  I’m excited to see what else comes out over the next six months prior to release. If Berzerk (or a clone) in that  nightstalker style came out that would definitely be on my list   Also I’d need to see a bit more but my daughter would love the skiing game I think, so I guess that means I have four out of five.

It's kind of wacky. I have a couple rotary controllers for my PC, but they both only move horizontal, not vertical. I'll have to try to re-wire one of them for the arcade experience with the Amico Breakout.

In one of Tommy's interviews, I saw someone bring up the question of an analog video port, like that on Xiaomi's Android TV box, or some Rokus. I could see this working well for older TVs, such as those a grandparent might own. But then again, it's most definitely too late to actually implement something like that...

If amico used a banana pi board it would have composite output built-in.  People with a tube tv might already have an hdmi to analog converter for their bluray player.

I wonder what would happen if there were 2 winners with the same high score for moon patrol???

Not sure where that Banana Pi comment came from (especially since there's dozens of varieties being sold).

I do know about HDMI to analog converters, but unless you spend the big bucks, chances are there's gonna be quite a bit of lag. Not fun!

The more expensive hdmi to composite converters are more likely to have a frame buffer and lag.  I've heard people have had good results with some very cheap ones.

Just thought this was interesting - a hot-off-the-press poll from over in the humble little /r/Amico subreddit

Out of the 109 respondants; 65% have either pre-ordered or actively interested to buy; 14% are waiting to see; 14% are just observers and 7% are punch bowl pissers

If you look at the comments you will often times mostly see punch bowl pissers with negative comments and down votes for anything positive said,

BTW we are at 559 subscribers now since this was posted last Friday. The subreddit has grown in subscribers every month, mostly with each major Intellivision video release.

Strange the narrative of some posters is that "people" are losing interest after the delay or the last trailer. Really weird people would rush out and subscribe/not un-sub to a subreddit they aren't interested in then.

Anyway I just really enjoy bull-shittery being exposed, so I thought I would share.

The Banana Pi thing is likely a reference to the now-dead Seedi project to support many early CD-based consoles.

When it was discovered that a prototype of the Seedi was internally a Banana Pi hooked up to a CD-ROM drive, some of the lesser YouTubers started screaming into their microphones... literal screaming.  Note: this does not include Jesus Metal Rocks; he reviewed the Seedi prototype and gave a fair and level assessment.

That's because those trademarks were filed to support the atgames colecovision flashback.  Colecovision had a frenzy cartridge but not berzerk.  It's interesting  that coleco holdings also filed a trademark on zaxxon.  The following year sega also filed a us trademark on zaxxon with a priority date that precedes coleco holdings.

Congratulations, @GrudgeQ, for your job with the Amico Reddit. Most people who are part of the target market of the console are not Reddit users, but 500 subscribers sounds great for an unofficial forum about an unreleased console from a company that's not among the big 3.

Also, I'm sure many of the users that read that page are not even logged in Reddit or subscribed to the SubReddit. I know because I am one of those users that never subscribe to any Youtube channel or Reddit but often checks the news manually.

I wonder if you can also check that, the number of total visits to the Amico Reddit? It would be interesting to see how much that has increased too.

I'm confused as to why people are so concerned about the inner components of Amico. They want to say it has a Banana Pi in it, and that somehow makes it bad. Even if it did, what's so horrible about that? What really makes this console are the controllers and software. What would make using the Pi so bad?

Yeah totally agree about Reddit crowd not being the target market so I never expect it to be the 'go to' place for Amico info.

Precisely why I don't normally post any Facebook posts, because you pretty much have to be logged in or a group member to see them. While, say Twitter, lets everyone see just from a link. Totally respect people who don't want to be on every social media platform under the sun.

We hit about 18,000 to 21,000 page views on big announcement months, but this year it is normally closer to about 10,000 when nothing major is going on. That average number really exploded in January, back in November '19 we were doing less than 2000. So yeah, the interest as expressed by page views is at least 5x this year.

Absolutely nothing - here are just a few of the low power gaming devices I have had hours & hours of fun on this year. That is difference between a gamer and a complainer.
