Hi Tommy,

I know this is a long shot but what about “I Robot” from Atari. As far as I know it has never been on another console or computer, it would be great great to have it on Amico as a first ever exclusive. 👍😀

This would be cool.  It would have to be 2D or 2.5D since Amico can't do 3D.  Hopefully it comes to Amico.  Wouldn't that be something?

Hopefully we get a game play video of another Imagic game before the year ends.  We already saw Safecracker.  I want to see what Demon Attack looks like or maybe Dragon Fire.  But it depends on if they have even been started yet.  According to Wikipedia, it shows Ice Trek coming to Amico.  Not sure if Tommy confirmed this one yet.  If no other Imagic games can be shown off this year, then it would be a cool way to begin 2021.

I’m sure the Amico could do this, it was the first game to do filled polygons, so it was very low resolution. If I had the cash I would finance this game myself, but I will need to win the lottery to do that 😂

According to Wikipedia, the Amico can do 3D games as long as they're easy to play and easy to learn.  For some reason I thought Amico couldn't handle 3D but after doing research I stand corrected.  Perhaps Tommy said 3D games are coming down the road and I misremembered what he actually said.  Because I could've sworn he said no 3D games on Amico.  Anyway, it's all good.  I'm just getting old and can't recall stuff.  LOL.

Lol, I can walk into a room and completely forget why I went in there! So I know where you are coming from 😂👍

The "no 3d" thing is more to do with confusing players with free roaming 3d spaces BUT Tommy has said they would be open to an 'on rails' 3d game, so I think I Robot (or something like that) could definitely be a possibility for the future.

Amico Skiing and Nitro Derby are 3D.  As Grudgeq said the 3D was clarified to mean open world games.

According to wikipedia, Ice Trek has no estimated release date but Microsurgeon has an ETA of next spring/summer.

So this is off topic but I figure someone might have some info for me. The arcade legends controller just came out but it’s missing the spinners that are on the arcade unit. Ideally I’m searching for a custom arcade controller (not arcade machine , just the controller that would hookup to my TV wireless or by HDMI and would have 2 x 8-way joysticks , a 4-way one , trackball, spinners , and if at all possible a “tron” controller. The Tron/Gorf controller is pushing it but does anyone know if someone makes custom controllers to ship to Canada ? 8-way joysticks kinda suck for Pac-Man , donkey Kong etc ......and spinners are a must for me!

Any info us appreciated ?

The 3D I was referring to was like something with a first person view like an FPS.  I forgot Skiing & Nitro Derby were 3D.

It's hard to tell by looking at it.  For example Amico Night Stalker looks like 3D graphics but it's not,  it's done with 2D graphic tricks;  very impressive.

It is hard to tell.  Yes, Amico Night Stalker looks really great.  It's amazing how they can make it look 3D.  Isn't 2.5D used to make things appear in 3D?  The 2.5D is considered fake 3D right?

it just plays with perspective, commonly referred to as Isometric perspective or graphics. It's just the three quarters perspective, it been used and continues to be used in many games throughout gamings, personally I LOVE that perspective in games. But you are right its not 3D, thats an entirely different animal.

Yeah, people use the term differently.  So fake or pseudo 3D, e.g. isometric like Zaxxon, is one use of the term.  Others use the term 2.5D when the graphics are 3D but the play is limited or constrained in one of the dimensions.

3D adds complexity to the control scheme that IE is trying to avoid, and it’s also harder to incorporate multiplayer.  While not a powerhouse, I believe avoiding 3D has to do more the above then to limitations with the chip (even though they exist).  Also, by 3D I mean open world (where you can move the view perspective).  First person perspective makes it even harder to incorporate couch co-op (and requires more system performance).

Out of curiosity, does anyone know of any same-system (not multi-system networked) first person couch co-op games?  I’d think it would be dang near impossible, but there are some really creative people out there.

First person couch co-op games can be done and have been done with split screens (not encouraged on Amico).   First person perspective games can also have very simple controls, left/right rotate, move forward/back. Third person perspective would have the extra 3d camera view controls.  Open world games could be first person with simple controls.  You could even have open world games in top-down view with 2D graphics.  Issues for casual gamers include getting disoriented in first person perspective, not knowing your direction.  And the lack of structure and clearly defined goals in typical open world games can also be confusing.

Here's a little Saturday morning fun for ya...

Our first pass of Founders pins are in!  Which one does everyone like the most?

I'm kinda digging the darker wood on the left.  Really makes the Running Man pop!

Thoughts?

Let me know your favorite and why.

Left side looks like the wood on my Intellivision. Right side doesn't, so...

Yeah, I know, kind of late, but I've been distracted by other stuff recently. Now that I realized it, this is another opportunity for me to say that I...

Kept you waiting, huh?

I know it's not Amico related but wanted to share.  It looks neat & has a small game selection.

Cool looking for sure.

$210 according to that link.  And that's before shipping and import to the U.S.

Hmm... I hope all the people freaking out about our price point are going to complain about Capcom as well.

:D
