Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

There is a new console out there!  It's called the KFConsole.  It has a new way of bringing families together that the Amico doesn't have!  Is this a credible threat to the Amico?  I vote 'no' but you be the judge.

Not vegan friendly.  I disapprove.

:D :D :D

I posted this on Facebook, but thought I'd post it over here too.

I finally found a video game I can sit down and play with my 2 year old!  Frog Bog!  It only has 1 button on easy mode which happens to be that big shiny disc which she obviously loves to press.  We keep pet frogs in a terrarium at home, so we went back and forth between feeding the real frogs and then feeding the frogs on the game.

Honestly, it was real fun to be able to play something with her that she could stay focused on.  I've been away rebuilding burnt down power lines in the Creek Fire for the past 3 months.  It's such a nice welcome home present to spend quality time with the kids.  Anyone here with kids should know, having a 2 year old actually play something with you for 10 minutes straight and not throw it across the room is a miracle.  Adding in the educational value of feeding the real frogs in the mix was perfect.

I never thought I'd say this before tonight, but now I'm most looking forward to the simple 1 button multiplayer games on Amico.  Nothing like this exists on Switch.  My older kids love the Switch, but my 2 year old only wants Intellivision.  Frog Bog is about as simple as it gets, but it sure made my day and hers.

P.S.  Tommy if you need a 2 year old to test the Amico, we're just around the corner.  I guess I'd have to be part of the sneak peek too as her parent 😜

WOW!!!

Thank you so much for sharing.

Really incredible and seriously brought tears to my eyes.

THIS is exactly what our goal is and I can't wait for you to be posting pics of you and your daughter playing the new Frog Bog by next Christmas!

Thank you again.  Going to share this story and pics with the rest of the company right now.  They will LOVE this!!

You rock.

💗

Also want to add...

I noticed you are based in Riverside.  Less than an hour from us.

I would love to invite you and your daughter to our offices in Irvine so she can play Shark! Shark!

Hopefully we can figure out a safe time for everyone when the California lockdown craziness subsides.

Do you mind if I share this story & pics across social media & Facebook pages?

Hahahha!

That was great.

Although the only way this could have been better and more accurate is if he would have died at the end because he skipped all the nonsense and then didn't know how to control the game.  That's what happens to me sometimes.  At that point I just put the game down and never play it again.  Not worth the time to learn everything only to forget it a few days later.  :)

In regards to modern video game controls... check out a few of these!

Have fun teaching grandma how to play!

Here!  Have some "options!"

To be clear... I'm not putting down games that give players lots of options and choices.  I'm just pointing out that what our overall general attitude and goals are.... are a bit different and unique and appeal to a "different" kind of audience.

I found this interesting.

"Hot Wheels goes digital with smart tracks and NFC cars, exclusively at Apple Stores. Hot Wheels id vehicles can be scanned into an app for kids to track speeds and stats."

Maybe or maybe not related to the Amico (I have no idea):
https://www.theverge.com/2019/6/14/18679341/hot-wheels-id-race-portal-vehicles-smart-track-apple-stores

Yep!  That story in a year and a half old... so maybe not so exclusive in 2021.

RFID cars you say?

Wouldn't That Be Something?

:)

I have about 20 of them next to my desk right now.  It's pretty awesome and they have a ton of great licenses as well.  My favorite is the Back to the Future DeLorean.

You can check out all of the epic ID collections at the bottom of the page here:

I've been playing a lot of Gateway to Apshai on the C64 Maxi, barely any Jumpan, though, although it is included on it.

G2A has been pretty fun, though!

Check out this letter I received from Epyx in the early 80's!

I had written the company and asked them where the Temple of Apshai was in the game??   I thought you had to eventually find it (as opposed to the entire game being IN the temple the entire time) and I thought there was an "ending" somewhere that I wasn't able to find.

I was obsessed with that game (had it for Colecovision).

I should track down Nicki Hodson and thank her for responding.  Heck... I should hire her!!

:)

Here's a page from my notebook around the same time as this letter...

Notice the Intellivision, Tron, Imagic, Vectrex & M Network stuff.

Hahhaha!

This is cool Tommy.  Thanks for sharing the letter.  I remember that drawing you did.  Maybe Temple of Apshai can be on Amico someday.  I know it's been discussed before.  But wouldn't that be something?

I did the audio for a few of those games in the mid 90's!

Also did about 3 or 4 of the Test Drive series as well.

Let me guess... The exotic car add-ons to The Duel?

Now... If you said the sound bytes for the Dodge Daytona, or the Pontiac GTO in the Muscle Car add-on... I'd be impressed...

Lol... I'm just teasing!  That's really cool Tommy!  That was a great series, especially on the Amiga because it was able to take advantage of the stero sound it offered.  I had my Amiga pumping through my Stero in my college dorm.  When I played The Duel, I always ran the Muscle car add-on.  Sounded insane back then!

Thanks for yet ANOTHER cool contribution to the gaming world!!

You are most welcome!

Just think of this as Rainbows' Krampus or Schmutzli.

Keeps him up at night around this time of year.

@Tommy Tallarico while I'm very excited for all the colours announced so far....

please make this next on the list. Seriously.
Even if it means dressing @nurmix up in the Amico Fuzzy Mascot suit 7 days a week to promote it, please make it so. Thank you in advance.

Ok haven't been on on a while so sorry if this has been asked.

With the recent buzz of you showing some Youtubers the physical media can we get a confirmed date when you will show the rest of us commoners?

Go ahead and repost this wherever you like.  I always love bragging about how cool my kids are.  Amico also has to compete with Mario Paint though....

My friend, you have found a gold mine of fun with a game that never gets old.  My daughter is now 20, 3rd year away at college and to this day still challenges me to a "Frog Bog Championship of the World" everytime she's home for the holidays.  We've been at this over 15 years, started at about age 4 for her.  Best of three, and she almost ALWAYS wins!!

This year she drew me my Birthday card for my 51st (yesterday)... Here it is ... Lol.  Frog Bog.  Hahahaha.

Enjoy the fun of playing with her...it's years of laughter.

Same for Shark Shark...and don't forget Snafu.  Play the "nibble the tail game".  I think it's game 8 or 9 or something like that.  Triple Action Battle Tanks is a blast with little kids too..with all the bouncing balls flying all over the place.

Merry Christmas!

Yep!  That is the current plan... although different "rating systems" and regional laws could get in the way for some folks.

We have a team of people who have been working on our Amico Game Shop for over a year.

Looking forward to sharing some of its unique features!

Excellent, thanks! I never really thought about the different ratings in different countries thing before. Not sure how ratings and stuff work for anywhere besides Japan and the US, but CERO is really strict about certain things (violence) from what I understand.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing how the store will look/work. I thought I heard that the Switch eshop got an update recently, but I just checked it and it seems that it's still extremely slow to respond. I almost want to see if I can intentionally get it to crash...

I really hope the Intellivision Amico will release in April 2021. Looking forward to your next videos till April. I have still preordered mine at Media Markt. The Track is remixed by CZ-Tunes:

Gameplay of the game. A genre thats now mostly owned by companies as Big Fish Games:

Have a nice christmas and really can`t wait to play the first AMICO Games at home :)
