Is Sub Hunt a game you are working on ?

It can be a cool Co-op game, someone aiming, another one controlling how deep to go in water, someone controlling speed ... !?

Can have some potential ! I will let you think about it ! 😉   (My english is bad ! 😁 )

In regards to Imagic games, I would like to see an updated Laser Gates. That was a later release for the Atari 2600 and I believe Atari 8 bit line. It would be really cool to have multiplayer strike force attacking the laser gates.

Subterranea too. Could be a Gradius killer.

I'm glad my optimistic message was so well received... Thanks so much to Tommy and the fans who upvoted it! 🍺

I guess optimism is not always something you can justify with serious analysis, so in this case we have actual reasons to be hopeful and not just our own feelings.

And yeah, Tommy is using some of our suggestions or analysis and sending others to its team and even investors... That is really cool and goes way beyond your typical Q&A situation. We are actually helping these guys create this awesome console. So I say, keep the ideas and information coming: Even if some messages may sound stupid, a few of them can have a real impact on the design of the machine or the games. 📮🛠️💰

Thanks.  I responded to the poster/comment so thanks for including the link too!

And yes... please feel free to keep the ideas and info coming!

Not yet... but it will be on the "to do" list at some point.

Never played that one (I never had a 2600) so I'll need to check that one out.

Here is an idea that I think is interesting. Back in the 80s there was a series of books called Fighting Fantasy. They were kind of like choose your own adventure books, but you played them with dice and there were several options to go through the game. In the last year or so they started to make these for video game consoles. For the Switch there are The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and Deathtrap Dungeon Trilogy. Although I like them both, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is the slightly better one. I recommend both of them for some fun gaming.

These titles bring the fun of Dungeons and Dragons without the need for a Dungeon Master. The console takes the role of the Dungeon Master. I would love to see a game like this where multiple people can play. The different players could choose to venture off on their own to collect extra treasures or battle other creatures before meeting up again. This could be achieved with the screen on the controllers. The dungeon master could then state what is happening with both parties and could also state when they have split up or rejoined. Battles could be swayed by how many people are fighting them and adversely single players have a higher chance to sneak past various dangers. That would be a day one purchase for me.

So many optimistic predictions from serious analysts this week, and I'm sure Tommy and its team will know how to handle them, it looks like the product is attractive for many but there's still a lot of work to be done.

While the PS5 and Xbox SX are not fighting for the same piece of the market than the Amico, some gamers (including me) are starting to suspect that Sony and Microsoft are having a bit of a problem: They just don't know how to sell the new console. They talk about loading times, ray tracing, different kinds of vibration... It's pretty clear that their actual consoles already provide ultra realistic graphics using a very similar controller, so justifying the purchase of a new system will be harder every time, and this problem will probably grow much bigger with the jump from PS5 to PS6.

Who knows, perhaps the Amico can benefit from this situation to, with a machine that offers something different for less than half the price... something attractive even for hardcore gamers, perhaps as a second console too.

They should copy the Apple business model.  I-Phone 11 ?  Really?  I just upgraded my 8 year old Blackberry to a phone that can hide in your Palm.  But I'm sure the I-phone 12 will have'em standing in line.

My birthday is Oct.14 so my Switch playing 30 year old son knows what to get Pops this October.  Can't wait honestly.

It's kind of like razor blades. . .5, 6 blades. . ."revolutionary" - REALLY? I'm sure there is a lot of engineering that goes into it. . .and maybe the engineering to accomplish it is innovative (if possibly revolutionary), but adding an extra blade in and of itself is not revolutionary. I remember when the 3-blade razors came out. Then 4 a few years later. 5 and 6 were just expected after that.

Either way, thankfully I'm bald and bearded. I can drop $30 at Sams or Costco and be set on blades for 5 years.😌

Yeah... we feel good about being so different than the others.  Don't get me wrong... hardcores will get the PS5 or XBOX X-rated no matter what.  But it's funny... some folks see us coming out at the same time as PS5 & XBOX as a huge negative.  We actually see it as a positive as we will be so different that (like the Dean Takahashi story today) we'll be in the conversation but with such a contrast.  Out of the 3 new consoles... which one do you think folks like Ellen Degeneres or Oprah will be more excited to talk about?  :)

I also think that people like an underdog story... and we are definitely that.  :D

Are you familiar with this old Dungeons and Dragons Labyrinth electronic board game by Mattel?

More optimism, this time from an AtariAge user commenting the same Intellivision Nation* video (I can't believe the debate that's going on there with only 340 views):

And here's another new comment on the same video with a moderately optimistic approach:

* I incorrectly referred to it as IntellivisionPlanet in a previous comment.

But why did he have to troll that much, though? -_-
"Grandma isn't interested in Yoshi's Wooly Sock Drawer. Uncle Phil doesn't know what a Kirby or a Pokemon is suppose to be and why games are sooooo cutesy. Mom and Dad playing a Nintendo game put up with lots of giggling Japanese school girls and anime power surge grunts with flashing backgrounds because that's what Nintendo puts out."

When you are trying to describe what the competition does wrong for casual/non gamers, and Nintendo is the competition, it's perfectly fine to write things that may sound offensive for some Nintendo fans... I see nothing wrong there. What worries me is how every single negative comment about Nintendo is followed almost instantly by someone defending the company, even in the most remote corners of the Internet... Hell, you could even make a sci-fi movie inspired by this, it's starting to become scary. 🎬

I really don't want to hear anymore about them, but this could easily be said about Pat and Ian's criticisms of the Amico. There is always a follow up as to why they are wrong etc. whether its Tommy's replies or this thread.

This comment is ironic because the Amico fans are doing the exact same thing. So if people defending Nintendo is scary following up every criticism with a pro Nintendo, then the same thing could be said about this thread.

Same coin different side.

Like I said, I don't want to hear anymore about Pat and Ian. The consumers will ultimately decide if it is a success or not, not YouTubers or Tommy.

So to wrap up, when might we expect the next Moon Patrol installment this month? (It is a Q and A thread right? ) :D

He didn’t.  If that’s trolling, the internet is a house of untold horrors.  A bit of observational humor, nothing more.

Nintendo skews *heavily* toward cute and anime tropes, especially in its eShop.  These have very limited appeal to any audience in their 30s and older is the point.  18 or 19 of 20 adults in western audiences over age 30 just aren’t consuming J-Pop/K-Pop or anime content.  It isn’t created for them.  Works for Japan and South Korea where cuteness is embraced.  Works for kids who love the flash and moody teenage themes.  Works for younger adults who grew up with these influences.

But the rest of us??  I think it’s fair to say Nintendo’s “family appeal” leans on a large percentage of either genre, and many adults with no connection to Nintendo IPs get left out.

Playchemy

Hi All - this is my first post - so hello!

We have all heard rumors of a new Ecco the dolphin game for the Amico. But does anyone know about the The Big Blue?

Post image

The preamble states: A million years in the future, mankind is long gone and the earth has become sentient, alive. In this game, you play the role of a dolphin, orca, whale, or other sea creatures. Working with other intelligent beings of the deep you must help the Earth survive a global cataclysm.

The game was kickstarted, but failed to reach its goal - Tommy are you able to give details if you picked this up?
