Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Here's an interesting French article about all the consoles that will be released in 2020: Xbox Series X, PS5, Playdate, PC Engine Mini, Atari VCS... : voici les nouvelles consoles de jeux de 2020

(Google translation: Xbox Series X, PS5, Playdate, PC Engine Mini, Atari VCS...: here are the new game consoles of 2020)

They treat the VCS with way too much respect ("Atari is alive and doing well") and totally ignore the couch co-op approach of the Amico. A bit weird that the PCEngine Mini appears before Amico and Playdate, too. But it's nice to see some journalist realize that 2020 is going to be the biggest year in history when it comes to console releases.

Nice to be in the conversation at least!  :)   I did the translation and it looks like it was positive overall and yeah... they didn't mention the couch co-op aspect (although they did mention "families).

It's a start.

:)

Dude... I'm gonna need to push back on you about this.  Don't spread crap that isn't even close to reality.  They did NOT kick him out.  What stupid bait-clicking website did you get that crap from?

Also... what films are better in your opinion.  Episode 1, 2 or 3... or 7, 8 & 9?   :D

1, 2 & 3.

And as a union man, I will have to respectfully disagree that union busting, red scare propaganda of the 40-50s used as an excuse for union busting and predatory capitalism disguised with feel good marketing words like "free markets" is a good way to run society.

CNEWS is a very mainstream medium (it's a TV channel first and foremost) and there is no real point of view here, just basic 'facts' from press releases - even if they forgot a few ones, yes. When they write "Atari is alive and doing well", they just remind that Atari still exists while most people probably think it disappeared long ago.

Cool to know we were mentioned in such a mainstream website.  The word is getting out around the world.  And again... we won't be starting our marketing or ad campaigns til late summer of 2020!

What's the next mark I should make on my calendar ? :)

Each small hints is appreciate, like the skiing logo ! Thanks a lot.

What's your target for what should be a complete game in terms of time play.
Maybe I am looking at it (sadly) from an hardcore point of view and I shouldn't ? :(

Example, finishing Moon Patrol will take 1 hour ? What should be expected for a decent play time ? ( Or replay value ? )

Thank you if you can enlightening me a little on this subject. I am a buyer anyway, but I am curious.

Thank you.

P.S. I have read a couple of time this post several times before pressing "submit reply", and I doubt more and more the relevance of my question! Lol

In the 80s, the majority of games lasted less than an hour for the people who mastered them !!
I realize that it is difficult to put myself in the shoes of a person at that time, even if it has already been my case! :) lol
But in that time a game could reach easily 40$, and now it will be 10$ or less for Amico, so it will be fine ! :)  I can live with that ! lol
I also realize it's a question from a one player perspective ! :)

Not sure what the next mark on your calendar would be... we put out stuff as it crosses our plates.  So much going on... but our main focus right now is finishing the hardware for mass production at the end of March.  After that... we'll start to put together a massive "schedule" of announcements.  But until then... we're just releasing info we think folks might be interested in.  Definitely want to do a full level of Moon Patrol by the end of January.  So something to look forward to there.  Mobile backgrounds and sounds for the Amico Club app and looking into releasing that level from Breakout that I showed.  :)

Moon Patrol will easily take 5 - 6 hours to finish in single player mode.  There are around 20 "moons" plus levels to get you to each moon.  ;)

I would say most of our single player games are around the 4 - 6 hour mark.  But the reality is that these are experiences that you continue to play over and over again with family and friends.  So although it may take a hardcore gamer 4 hours to complete the single player mode of Moon Patrol.  They may play for countless hours with their friends in co-op or versus modes.  At the end of the day... do people feel like they are getting $9 worth of entertainment.

The answer will be YES!

VALUE is one of our biggest concerns and goals with the system.  And we are hitting it out of the park in every way, shape and form.

I would highly recommend watching the Mandalorian. Baby Yoda might be the greatest thing that has happened to humanity, or at least to a divided Star Wars fan base.

As for the ticket prices you’re not wrong. They’ve never been higher and attendance has never been higher so I’m not sure you’ll see them drop anytime soon. As a Canadian my family and I usually keep an eye out for the 25-30% discount they offer Canadians a couple times a year which more or less covers the exchange rate hit we take when buying US$ items. As someone who makes a fairly good income I’m still stunned by how much it costs and honestly don’t know how most folks afford it. I see a lot of my clients taking their kids and grandkids as a large group as I suppose for many families that’s the only way they’re able to go.

Yeah... I watched The Mandalorian.  I meant that I hadn't "gotten into it" in this thread (i.e. singing it's praises as yet another Disney win).  I went back just now and edited my comment to reflect that.  :)

Yeah... it really has become a vacation highlight for families around the world.  I bet every one of us remembers the first time that our parents took us to a Disney park.  Some of the fondest memories kids have growing up.  And that is exactly the kind of positive messaging and experiences that people forget when they crap on Disney for being a successful company.  Imagine a world where Disney didn't exist?  Bottom line... the world would suck more without Disney.  Instead of going after Disney... people should look into Monsanto, pharmaceutical or the cigarette companies.  Now THAT is some evil corporate shit right there.  I don't put Disney anywhere near the level of folks like that.  :D

Please stop putting right wing framing words in my mouth. I'm not crapping on anybody for being successful. I'm crapping they don't share the spoils of their success with the workers who made it successful in the first place.

New game announcement.

When learning your numbers and letters are forced into your brain, at turbo speed. This game of the day brought to you by the Amico...

That's cool.  I understand that a great number of folks feel the same way you do.  I'm not trying to change your mind.  It's cool.

I'm guessing we probably clearly disagree on politics.  And that's okay.  We're here about the stuff we LOVE not about the stuff we disagree with.

So... what is your favorite video game that hasn't been mentioned that you would like to see on Amico?

They do share their profits with employees.  And they even do things like this:
https://variety.com/2018/film/news/disney-125000-employees-1000-cash-bonus-1202674132/

So again... your data and facts are just wrong.  And yes... you absolutely implied that Disney is a bad company.  Lets move on.  Nothing you or I will ever say to each other that will change our minds.  Lets agree to disagree and not bring it up anymore.

p.s.  I was trying to communicate that certain factions of folks crap on Disney in general yet ignore all of the positive things they continue to bring to the world (including hundreds of millions in charitable donations around the world).  Wasn't specifically trying to call you out.  Sorry if it came across that way.  Wasn't my intention.

An update of Kid Nikki:Radical Ninja... maybe without the dated 80s/90s "attitude" that was a thing back then. Haha. It look like you're already tackling the Intellivision catalog as it stands now, so I'm happy with that.

I'm not really that familiar with Kid Nikki (or is it Niki with one K?)  What about that game made you like it so much?

Agree 100%!   Yeah... I didn't even get into the Mandalorian in any of my posts.  Great stuff.  And I liked the Solo movie as well.  Better than nothing.  And how about Star Wars land at Disneyland?  Wow!

One of the things I am pissed at Disney about (and make no mistakes... there are many... but they do way more GOOD than evil IMO) is the price of a ticket these days to go to Disneyland or any of their theme parks (some of which they don't even own or operate btw!).  A family of 4 would literally need to spend over $1,000 just in park tickets to get into both parks across 2 days.  Plus flights, hotels, super expensive food, etc.  Really wish they would lower the prices.  Then again... people are paying it because it's that good.  Just wish more people had access.

We go to Disney World About every year and Universal...family of 6 with middle class salary and I always marvel at how pricey theme parks are are her how packed they are. Agree 100% more would come if slightly more affordable.

It was an earlier NES platformer that pretty much played like a cute Shinobi, or ninja run & gun type game. The boss characters were funny and well drawn even for 8 bit. It's an Irem game, so you already have a deal with them, so I figured whadahell.

Yeah... it's a tough one.  Then we would all complain that it's too crowded.  :)   It's a no win situation.  I'm sure they probably know their balance of what 30,000 visitors a day are willing to pay.  They probably employee a team of people to figure it out on a daily basis.

Ah!  Okay... now that I see the screen shots I remember the character (though I never played it).  I'll check it out.  Yeah... IREM has been GREAT with us and really love what we're doing.  So it would be an easy pick-up for us.

I LOVED Shinobi!  I approached Sega about it.  We're in talks... but they take awhile to approve anything.  But we've started down the path.

This video is 3 minutes.  I dare anyone to try and make it all the way through.  I couldn't.

There are ways to do "kid friendly" stuff without wanting to put a bullet in your brain.

You know what game is like to see return? Nebulus! In think it was called Tower Toppler and/or Castelian in the US.

Anyway, the C64 version was incredible. It'd be awesome to have a 4 player split screen version, players racing to the top. Or even some sort of mechanic that requires players to work together to get up the tower.

Talk to Hewson. I'll code it! Haha.

There's another one that came to mind just now. An old Atari vector game called Quantum. Sort of like Snafoo, but plays more like a scorpion game where the tail is limited and can destroy enemies through looping maneuvers. Its a trackball game so the touchscreen could come in handy.

I only saw one of these in the wild in 1983 or 84. I think it was pretty obscure.
