Is there any plans for a pinball game for the Amico? I would love to have both a video game style pinball and also a collection based on real pinball tables.

I wanted to tell you a story that happened on Founders day. I was at my job when it was time for getting the preorder for the founders edition. I told my workmate before hand that I wanted to pre-order the unit and informed him that I would jump on my phone when it was time. He is 24 and hasn't played an original Intellivision before and asked some questions about it. I got in on preordering it about three minutes after getting the email. After our class I told him that I got a preorder for the Amico and he then brought up the Night Stalker video and watched it from beginning to end. He turned to me after and simply said, "I think I might have to sell my Switch for one of these."

Wow!  Super cool story.  Thanks for sharing!

Yep... we've been speaking with the #1 video game pinball maker on the planet.  Using the touchscreen to pull back the plunger is gonna be super cool.  :)

Hello all, new here.  Love my original Intellivision, despite losing 99% of the NFL Football games I ever played.  I just couldn't figure out how to defend against 9-8-1-3!  Really looking forward to the Amico, founders edition is pre-ordered and I'll pick up another in October.

I discovered the reboot randomly searching for info on the Intellivision Flashback 6 months ago, and must confess I am still stunned that the system that I loved so much back then isn't just coming back around, it's coming back in the biggest and best way I could ever imagine.   Much respect to Tommy and the whole team, thanks for doing this thoughtfully and with integrity.

Tommy, a question:  I saw the 'dice shaker/roll' animation, and it got me thinking:  I play a couple of the old 1950s and 60's era 3M 'Bookshelf' series of board games pretty regularly.  'Win, Place, & Show' (horse racing) and 'Stocks and Bonds' (stock market/trading) are really fun, simple, dice-based strategy games.  There are several others that are quite well regarded, so I was wondering if any of these (or games in this style) might be on the radar?

If you keep adding things, Amico might turned into Atari VCS.

I like more Atari VCS than Amico.

But if only I can upgrade Amico to Atari VCS with modern gamepads, ...

Wait! Why would I buy an Amico just to play Atari VCS when I only need to buy an Atari VCS?

Or using my laptop to play Atari VCS games?

In this case, I won't buy Amico and Atari VCS.

Hi!,

Thanks so much for joining us and thanks for the kind words.

I must admit... I'm not too familiar with the 3M bookshelf series.  I'd love to find out more.

What would you suggest in terms of getting more info and learning more?

Are there any YouTube videos discussing or explaining or playing?

Are there other games like this that you would recommend besides the 2 you stated?  Are more than one able to play at a time?  Or are they single player games?  If multiple players... how many total at once?

Thanks again for wandering in and I hope you'll stay and check in often.  Looking forward to finding out more about these games.

Phew!  Okay... good to know.

Now I don't need to answer any more of your strange questions from now on.

Thanks-it's great to be here and nice to see others so enthusiastic about the Amico.  I'll be around!

The games were put out by 3M and Avalon Hill for a time.

Here's a wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3M_bookshelf_game_series

Interestingly, this youtuber has just reviewed a few of the games and put the videos up...9 hours ago.  It's as if he knew we'd be looking!  This one is for Stocks and Bonds:

He has reviewed a few other 3M games also, although I've not played them.  He also reviewed Waterworks, a card game I played as a kid and never saw again.

This reviewer details Win Place and Show, the horse racing game-this is the Avalon Hill version:

The auto racing game is called Speed Circuit and is quite good, although I've not yet picked up a copy.  It's worth noting that people like this game enough to have reinvented it as 'Championship Formula Racing' complete with user-designed real-world tracks and a dedicated website:http://www.lucidphoenix.com/sc/

Someone is even selling a keychain of the original box art on ebay!  I had no clue.  Learned something today, thanks Tommy!

I can dig around some more tomorrow...need to go to bed!

Yeah... especially for Baseball.  It was all just muscle memory!

Utopia is the one that I always needed the overlays for though.  Could never remember what all the buildings were.

How about the rest of you??  What original Intellivision games did you ALWAYS need the overlay for???

Here is a board game with horse racing and a dice.

I did not know, but it seems very interesting to me. It is very well explained and not complicated. I can easily imagine it on Amico!

If you don't have a lot of time, just listening 5 minutes out of 12 will explain most of the rules.

4 hidden bets per race, because other players should not know which one we bet the most on.

There is a bet that is a bluff. And we decide which horse advanced among those who have not yet advanced during this round.

I find it so interesting that if I find it, I will buy it. :)

Edit : Also what's cool, it's that you can bet and play at the same time and it's part of the strategy !

For me I always use the overlay. I love the work and detail that went into each of them and it just completes the experience for me. I'm looking forward to when we get our first look at what the redesigns look like.

Oh wow... so weird seeing that as I did that interview right before leaving for the airport back home (that was filmed in Doha, Qatar) and then by the time I arrived home... it's already on the internet.  Gotta love technology!

:)

The Arabic logo t-shirt was done up last year when we were in Dubai.  There's actually a bit of an Easter Egg on the website.  Go to the bottom and click Dubai.   :D

Which one of the 5 main game types for the Amico are you more excited about? (Question from IntelliMission)

The first reason I got interested in Amico almost a year ago now was for reimagined games.

Nostalgia, better graphics and sounds, better playability, and playing with others, etc.

So it's no surprise that reimagined games are first on the list.

Edutainement is last, but I will buy them anyway. Could be fun with my son before he gets too old ! lol

But in 2nd position, I have always tied the other 3 categories. But I realize more and more that board games are making their way alone in 2nd position.

Anyway, I know I will love every game types ! :)

Thanks Amico. Fun for everyone no matter the game category you like !

Nice teamwork by a NES fan and a PS1 fan! We still need more drama if we want to reach page 1,000 though...

Yeah, I should open a second poll so we can vote for the second place after the classics... The classics have absolutely destroyed the opposition:

By the way, you can post that message on the topic I opened about it! 🤓

Speaking about Tommy's looks, let's take a moment to contemplate a bearded Tommy Tallarico reviewing Metal Gear Solid 3 (and here's Tommy saying that Metal Gear Solid's controls and voice acting suck and that the game was not fun 5 years later because Splinter Cell was better, but let's remember he had to be the bad guy there).

I was at an all-day workshop last week, one colleague who has a 3 year daughter, was asking another about what age they started their now 6-year old on video games. I took the opportunity to talk up Amico, and mentioned the family-friendliness, and especially the edutainment piece. Tommy has specifically mentioned the 2-7 age range as being completely outside the focus of video games and wanting to address that. So I included that bit of info as well. . .I don't know that I sold two units, but I know one of them wants to be able to play games as a family. So I know I sold at least 1 unit.
