I would think you could load games from the SD card, just like you could the Wii or the PS2 memory cards. It would seem odd if you couldn’t. Are you referring to something else?

What I meant was, like when you put in an SD card on a smartphone, sometimes there's an option to format it as internal if the storage on the phone was small to begin with.  That way you have more space after making the SD card internal.  I did this with an old smartphone I had.  The phone only had 8GB, but after adding the 32GB SD card as internal then I got 40GB.

Tommy,

Will there be a role playing game on Amico like Phantasy Star or Chrono Trigger?  The touch screen could be used for the inventory.

Is there a Pinball game for Amico?  Maybe it could have motion controls?

Also how about a top down adventure game similar to the original Legend of Zelda on the NES.

I know a Running Man game is on the Amico.  What about a Running Man game with a maze similar to Pac-Man or Night Stalker?  The objective is that Running Man has to reach the exit on the other side of the maze without being caught or killed by the enemy.  You wouldn't have weapons but there are power ups to collect along the way if you need them.  One is a shield to block enemy attacks, one can allow for invisibility.  The last one can make you immortal for a few seconds.

When in doubt, please always, always err on the side of later than rushing to make a date.

I know we're no longer in hard-coded firmware territory with the option to update, but I would far rather wait a few months and have the product the way you and the team want it than hit an arbitrary number of launch titles.  You'll get skewered by the haters either way for a date slip or sub-quality game, but the ding for a date slip is way less damaging than releasing a game that isn't all it could have been.

Absolutely!

And the great thing about what we're doing is that we don't need to make million dollar decisions like most big games.  Adding a few more months to a title is in the tens of thousands... not the hundreds of thousands or millions.

Tommy, how is ToeJam and Earl coming along? I think I read that the goal was to have this as a launch title or close to launch. Is that still happening?

Also curious about your thoughts on R-Type Final 2 for Amico if you get a chance to take a look. I know they are targeting really nice polygon graphics for this game, though, and the very early PS4 demo I played last summer looked very nice. Not sure exactly how well the Amico's specs compare to what Granzella is pushing for, though.

Not sure if TJ&E will be on launch.  That is the idea... but won't know til later in the summer.

Just watched the R-Type Final 2.  It's beautiful.

But if I'm being honest... our hardware wouldn't be able to pull that off which such a smooth frame-rate.  Just not designed to handle that much 3D and lighting fx at once.  We could probably get close if we baked in the backgrounds... but something like that is better suited for the powerhouse machines.

Tommy,

From looking at the printable website on what could be made for Amico products, what about smartphone cases?  Or maybe a fanny pack?  Lol.

Cool.  I'll add those to our "to do" list.

What will be super cool is playing board games like Monopoly and being able to select the Running Man as a token piece!

I like that idea!!  Didn't even think of that!!  Just added it to the game design!!

:)

What do you all think about a Super Smash Bros. style game on the Amico but with Atari & Intellivision characters?  There would be stages from Atari & Intellivision games.  Such as a Breakout stage, Missile Command stage & Night Stalker stage, just to name a few.  The game would be in 2D of course.

With the Breakout stage, you would have to dodge the ball while it's bouncing around.  With the Missile Command stage, as you're fighting your opponent, missiles start coming down and you have to avoid being hit.  Or with the Night Stalker stage, you'd have to watch out when the big spider crawls down the TV screen onto the platform where you're fighting.

These are just some of my ideas.  I think this would be a really cool fighting game in the tradition of Super Smash Bros.

Tommy,

This is probably too soon but do you know if the Amico has the option to format an SD card as internal storage?  Since the Amico only has 16GB of flash memory, it would be nice if we could expand the flash memory instead of using the SD card as separate storage.

Yes.  That is the main reason we have the SD.  For more internal storage.

Tommy, I just got my BEE SEVENTEEN BAWLMER in the mail and now I'm excited to see what the remake looks like! Are you going to show it at E3? Actually, is it safe to say how many new games you are planning on showing there? Not names, since you have to save surprises, just a number. Of course, everything is subject to change and stuff since E3 is not for another few months and you obviously want stuff to be as close to release quality as possible before showing it and especially letting people play it.

We may show a little of it at E3.  Not sure at this point.  Not sure how many games will be playable at E3 as we don't know how many machines we're going to have.  I'm hoping at least 10.... but it's still WAY up in the air at this point.

Yes.  This is the reason we added the SD slot.

We have levels like this in Night Stalker.  :)

Pinball would be a great game/s for Amico you got motion for tilt and playing in horizontal mode with the bumpers would be perfect.

That would be cool. Would it be generic fighters, or IPs? If IP who would the characters be?

It could have generic characters.  But for the IPs it would be Pac-Man, Running Man, Pitfall guy, Frogger.  I know there are more.  But I can't think of any right now.

Yeah licensing for that would be a pain. Might be one of those things have new characters then if you can license some add them. Oh and EWJ could be one.

Yeah, the licensing would be a nightmare.  I forgot about EWJ.  Yes he would be a character too.  And his stage could be in the game.  As you're fighting in his stage, a cow just appears flying across the screen.  You have to not get hit by it.  LOL.

Hey Tommy, Sonic has shown us the way. Go ahead and make the Running Man famous. Put it on movies, songs, commercials. Leave people wondering. Create the Bat-Mania 2.0 with it. Or the new smiley "acid house" thing. LET'S DO IT! Now, seriously, it sounds crazy but creative minds can come up with ideas and plots out of nowhere, why not the Running Man? Just like Mario, He-Man and Sonic before, he could be lost on the real world and blah, blah, blah.

Here's my plan:

1) Create a mysterious commercial with the running man and the most catchy music you could come up with as an ultra creative musician.

2) Release the single, have everyone humming the song

3) Movies, t-shirts... the Amico is not even needed anymore to provide benefits. 🤓

4) ??????????

5) SUCCESS!

For the Smash Bros idea, I would add single player with story/arcade mode.  There would also be 1 on 1 versus & multiplayer modes too.  This would definitely be a great couch co-op game.   If the licensing can work out, I know this will sell like hotcakes.

These games are already from 4 different companies, and two of them are Japanese. It seems people have a hard time realizing Smash Bros. has a huge budget because of licensing (especially music), as big or maybe bigger than AAA games on Sony and Microsoft consoles.

I'll just paste what I wrote in the other thread here:

"I just got another idea. If Tommy can't get the rights to Sonic, or even if he can, I'd like to see a 2D sprite-based Sonic clone starring the Running Man. He could run through worlds based on the old INTV games. So like you know how Sonic 3's Ice Cap has the snowboarding part? Same thing, but with skiing instead preceded/followed by the same exploratory high-speed platforming as Sonic. Each world would have its own special unique gimmick, like Sonic. Multiplayer would be split-screen racing, time trials, or maybe score attack. Basically Sonic Mania but with the Running Man."

Any chance of this, Tommy?
