Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Is there going to be any use of the pressure sensitivity function being used as the throttle with the auto racing game? On paper it sounds really cool but just wondering if you guys have experimented with it.

Still experimenting.  Works better in Skiing when you're going straight and really want to get a little extra speed!  Turning all the time in every direction (like in any racing game) is a little more difficult.

Still experimenting... but gotta keep it simple for everyone too.

Tommy, did you have a good relationship with Regis Fils-Aime now that he is in charge of Gamestop ? ( if you had already met )
Probably a meeting with him soon ? 😊

Pretty decent relationship.  Hot & cold sometimes because of some of the honest reviews I gave on my TV show.   :)

Not meeting with him for Gamestop stuff as of yet.  He has an overall advisor role... we deal with the buyers.  Might at some point... but nothing planned as of yet.

Tommy Talarico is the nicest CEO I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with (well he's actually the only one I've ever dealt with..).  I get a big smile every time he comes here and interacts with us.

I don't have anything clever to say right now but I wanted to mention that his excitement and positive attitude is a blessing.

I sent his post with John Alvarado to my kids, my ex and anyone who would listen.

😄

I wasn't expecting such a kind gesture and it meant a lot to me.

The Amico is something special because the people who are creating it are special. Their hearts and minds are in the right place and their talent and expertise is unrivaled in the industry.

I'm all in with this system because it is lightning in a bottle and it represents a new day in gaming and interaction. I can't wait to see this thing become more successful than even Tommy can imagine.

Go Team Amico!!!!

First and foremost it really does seem that Tommy is one of us, he hasnt forgotten his roots , his gaming passion, etc. That "kid" inside him it still alive and well.  I have been around way too many "serious" adults in my life who inner kid has died, and what is left is some boring deluded poser, I cant stand those people.  Tommy looks to be the real deal.  I wish him and his team a ton of success, and what little help I can do by praising amico around my circles and forums, I will happily do.

Is anyone else having trouble deciding which colour of lighting to use on their Founders Edition or is that just me? I'm pretty impressed with the battery life too and I'll tell you I'm having a tough time trying to figure out my top five games so far.
@Tommy Tallarico thanks again for sending me my Founders unit so early so I can self quarantine in style. 🙏🏻😂

Here is a review from Tommy Tallarico for EarthWorm Jim, in 2012 !

Guess what ! He gave a 10, a perfect score. ( He did the music and sounds ...  😅 )
But it's not surprising or shocking.

What I want to show you (the sequence is in the right place), it's that when he have something in mind and at heart, he will do everything to achieve his goal !

It's March 2012 ( a couple of days before the birth of my son ! 🤗) , and he is already talking about how it could be cool

to bring together the members of the EarthWorm Jim team to make anothe game !

Tommy, he's a guy who keeps his word ! ( And we are also Lemmings and followers ...   lol 😂)

After watching the video of OEB Pete, I decided to also make my predictions for the 22 titles that will be part of the trailer for Tuesday. (I'll write them under Pete's video)

But first, I think you too Pete fell into Tommy's trap about Burgertime! 😋😉

17 hours ago, LePionnier said:

Great ! Burger Time instead of Pong. I am really Happy. (Because Pong it's Pong ! lol )

I can't wait to see what this famous character Peter Pepper will look like!

EDIT :

What ! I forgot to scroll down ...

Tommy you've got me !  Okay, it will be Pong, and I understand !

We need a press conference to announce this highly anticipated game ! (Burgertime) :)

I was so surprised ... Next time, I will manage my emotion of joy before answering! lol

HERE it's where it all started ! lol

Now the video, but instead of Burgertime we have to think Pong ! 😁

Now my predictions.

First, "without prejudice", this is what has been confirmed by Tommy :

1-Skiing (1st time)

2-Astrosmash
3-Moon Patrol
4-Night Stalker
5-Autoracing

6-Safecraker (1st time)

7-Pong (1st time)

8-Corn Hole (1st time)

9- Ecco the Dolphin (The Big Blue ?)

So we have 9 games, including 4 new games.

On the 13 remaining games, difficult to guess the 5 other games that we will see for the 1st time, especially if they are new IPs.

So I watched the video for August 2019, and I'm trying to guess which ones we will see again.

10- Breakout

11- The Running Man

12- Missile Command

13- Asteroids

14- Car Crash game (Almost confirmed because Tommy said it will be one of the two "Meet Amico" videos.)

15- Battle Tank game

16- Shark! Shark!

17- Snafoo

That means that I decide to drop the Quiz Game, Circus game,Assasin Kitty versus General Meow game, Biplane game.

The ones I have the most doubt and who could be part of the trailer is the Quiz Game (Tommy often talked about it very positively), and the Circus Game.

But if I am wrong about one or two games from my 10th to 17 list, then I am worried about games like Snafoo and Shark Shark.

Why ?  Because now knowing that we have 7 games fighting to be among the 5 games included with Amico,

this probably means that 2 previous contenders are not developing very well... 😕 (Maybe auto racing is one of the new contenders ?)

Tommy, if you can confirm that Snafoo will be part of the trailer for Tuesday, that would reassure me and I would sleep better the next two nights! lol

Now trying the impossible, guessing 5 new games :

18- Farkle (Dice game)

19- Sesame Street Game ( Edutainment game )

20- Bocci or Horseshoes ( I played during my vacation and I would like to play again! )

21- PacMan (Why not. Lock "N" Chase not on the list is because they have plan for another maze game ! 😆 )

22- Tennis ( We need a sport game on this list that could be played by 2 or 4 people 🤔 )

So nothing very scientific, but done with love and for fun! 😀

You got 16 correct.   :)

In regards to SNAFOO.  You won't be seeing it.  Lets just say we're having a little SNAFU with SNAFOO!

Excellent news that will probably affect the Amico:

Ahmad: No Signs of Xbox Series X and PS5 Being Delayed at This Point

A potential slight problem with his assumption could be that he is only taking in consideration of manufacturing... it's the parts/component supply chain that is also affected.  Meaning... components/parts are becoming scarce... same reason toilet paper and bottled water is.  If there is one tiny thing that is hard to find it could delay them.  Lucky for us, we tried using as many "off the shelf" stuff as we could.  This is always a BIG design choice when creating electronics.  For example... maybe there is a controller battery that puts out 30 more minutes of power... but it's harder to get (or only one plant makes them)... that isn't neccessarily the one that is best for your product.  Using a more commonly found battery that 5 or 6 different plants manufacture (in the long run) could be the much smarter move.

Just a little insight for folks on some of the stuff I've learned going through the process over the past few years.

Question for Atari fans.

What are your thoughts on all these Atari games/franchises being on Intellivision Amico?

Has Atari VCS (debacle) converted you into an Amico fan at all?

Question for Tommy.

How did Intellivision get the Atari licenses again?

Thanks

Its a lot like Star Wars Arcade, except you have a Galactic Map you can turn on and find where enemies bases are in the galaxy and hyperspace there. You can also control your speed and you have to dock with space stations to refuel and get repairs. Wilmunder's Star Raiders 2, which was finished around 1984, but not released due to the crash adds multiple ships on screen at the same time and the ability to visit planets and skim over the surface looking for star bases to destroy. In one video, not included here, the reviewer states it was a game that people bought Atari computers just to play this game over buying an Apple computer and gives it an A+. The computer version used the keyboard for speed, switching fore/aft views, going to the map and hyperspace. The 5200 version used the 5200 controller keypad and overlay.

Star Raiders - Overlay

This is a game that deserves a revision/reboot on a new console. That dud on the Playstation and Xbox doesn't count. After playing so much Star Wars:The Arcade game back in the day I had a thirst to experience that same thrill at home. An Atari 800XL and Star Raiders got the job done for me. Tommy I'd love to see a modern take on the Amico!!! Please consider this.
