Atari releasing new hardware is pointless at this time. They should just licence their IP's out to competent game creators on just about any device. I have two friends that are die hard Nintendo fans and even they'd like to see Nintendo go the software only route. Totally surprised me.  They hate the way Nintendo is handling online support for games and friends. One said " Imagine a new Zelda game on the new Xbox" his words not mine. And I'm thinking Imagine a new Zelda or Star Raiders on the Amico!!

I think it's good but not any different than them licensing them for flashbacks or other systems etc.

The VCS debacle I don't see being a determining factor into my interest in Amico.

Maybe Atari SA is okay with licensing the trademarks for Amico but not the original games?  They probably don't care, licensing is how they make money and probably prefer others do the work.

They said they will be doing a Locknchase eventually, and already have other licenses from that publisher.  Obviously, they'd want to have one of the biggest names in the history of video games as well.

Although my OG game console was Intellivision over the years I became a general retro fan and although I do occasionally play some Gen 1 stuff for deep nostalgia, quite frankly I am attracted to more updated middle era stuff more. Which leads me to why I am actually excited for the Amico retro stuff, it isn’t Atari or Intellivision games from the day - they are all updated and reimagined. THAT is what has me exited, I don’t care the brand, more that it is an updated classic. Now of course I am going to get all the OG Intellivision games when they are made available but really that has little to do with why I am buying the Amico.

As far as how Tommy got Atari games, Atari is primarily an IP licensing company and would sell to you and me if we have the cash. As it turns out they probably should have just stuck with that and stayed out of hardware. This whole VCS issue has turned away a lot of hard core fans.

Now my predictions.

First, "without prejudice", this is what has been confirmed by Tommy :

1-Skiing (1st time)

2-Astrosmash
3-Moon Patrol
4-Night Stalker
5-Autoracing

6-Safecraker (1st time)

7-Pong (1st time)

8-Corn Hole (1st time)

9- Ecco the Dolphin (The Big Blue ?)

 

So we have 9 games, including 4 new games.

On the 13 remaining games, difficult to guess the 5 other games that we will see for the 1st time, especially if they are new IPs.

So I watched the video for August 2019, and I'm trying to guess which ones we will see again.

10- Breakout

11- The Running Man

12- Missile Command

13- Asteroids

14- Car Crash game (Almost confirmed because Tommy said it will be one of the two "Meet Amico" videos.)

15- Battle Tank game

16- Shark! Shark!

17- Snafoo

 

That means that I decide to drop the Quiz Game, Circus game,Assasin Kitty versus General Meow game, Biplane game.

The ones I have the most doubt and who could be part of the trailer is the Quiz Game (Tommy often talked about it very positively), and the Circus Game.

But if I am wrong about one or two games from my 10th to 17 list, then I am worried about games like Snafoo and Shark Shark.

Why ?  Because now knowing that we have 7 games fighting to be among the 5 games included with Amico,

this probably means that 2 previous contenders are not developing very well... 😕 (Maybe auto racing is one of the new contenders ?)

Tommy, if you can confirm that Snafoo will be part of the trailer for Tuesday, that would reassure me and I would sleep better the next two nights! lol

 

Now trying the impossible, guessing 5 new games :

18- Farkle (Dice game)

19- Sesame Street Game ( Edutainment game )

20- Bocci or Horseshoes ( I played during my vacation and I would like to play again! )

21- PacMan (Why not. Lock "N" Chase not on the list is because they have plan for another maze game ! 😆 )

22- Tennis ( We need a sport game on this list that could be played by 2 or 4 people 🤔 )

 

So nothing very scientific, but done with love and for fun! 😀

I just read the first part "You Got it"  I was too busy thinking up my 22 I never saw on the bottom "Wrong Again"  You do realize Tommy, you now have to make the game or put a burger game in the trailer   Lesson to all the kids out there READ THE FINE DETAILS!

Me too . I’m not really interested in pac-man. It’s been done too many times and lock n chase is cooler ! I would love to see a reimagined version of it ! But on the other hand, I’m sure if a reimagined version of pac-man was made by these guys it would be cool.

It's an absolutely FABULOUS story that I can't say publicly because of our contracts with Atari.  Some day in the long future it will come out and you'll all be LOL'ing.

You've said in the past you're working on around 40 games and between 20 and 40 could possibly be available at launch. 

Would the 5 that come with the System be included in that total? (Meaning 5 games and between 15 and 35 games to buy at launch or do you mean 5 games and 20 to 40 to buy at launch)?  I know I'm weird for asking but I'm saving up to buy all launch titles and then every 10 to 14 days buy each new game which comes out.

Also will the physical ones be available digitally as well? I don't have much space in my room and would kind of just like mine digital (but I love that you are providing collectors a physical avenue).

Last question about the launch: since some games are hitting a snafu, do you still feel you have enough going into the first 6 months (meaning launch and every 10 days or so a new title for the first 6 months) or do you think you might fall short on that goal and have to release in a broader window (like every 14 to 20 days instead of 10 to 14 days)?

Do you have have all of the Atari licenses ? Love to see reimagined versions of adventure and warlords among others. It was puzzling that Atari has announced no plans to update their own games but to include the “Atari vault” with their system. Who needs that yet again ? I guess it takes Intellivision to bring us updated Atari games !!! Glad you guys got the licenses to do this !

Of course !    And only 30% will have physical release.

Yes.  Those figures INCLUDE the 5 (or 6?) pack-ins.

Yes!  ALL games will have a digital release.  Only some will have physical.

Absolutely have enough.  LOTS of new things starting in June/July of this year.

I have 12 of the very best Atari games... Adventure & Warlords are included in that bunch.

Haha... I'm not sure how many of those we would sell.  But maybe a sticker "skin" that you can add to the black or white ones. 

Although that EP logo would look sweet on the Galaxy Purple!

Console color name change!
 

Check it out... here's an Atari Age exclusive...

We are changing the color names of the black and white consoles because we decided that we're going to do them in MATTE finishes (the main bodies) what satin highlights.  They look SO COOL!!!

So Obsidian Black and Glacier White didn't work anymore (because those things are very shiny/glossy, etc.).

I wanted to keep it nature based for the black & white versions so the new names are...

Graphite Black (love that one!)

and

Ivory White

It will be in our press release on Tuesday... but thought I'd sprinkle a little info in here for everyone.
