Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

I've learned a lot recently by being a part of this community:

1) There is a lot of nice people here.

2) Tommy is very approachable.

3) RxScram is super nice and polite to everyone.

4) The community has a sense of humor and bonds really well.

5) In a time of great distress, people the world over can join in a common love of something and spend a few precious moments away from the worry.

And finally... the Amico means more than friend.

Well, it seems this place has been quite busy while I was asleep. Yay, time zones.

When Amico becomes a huge success I want Intellivision to buy Vectrex and I'll bring that one back next!!!!!!!!!

Do it. I will be order #1. Behold this thread if you haven't already:

So I have 2 random questions. First has nothing to do with Amico at all. I know you have the Nintendo Block Kuzushi. How is it? There is one I found in town and it's reasonably cheap and I kind of want it, but I'd like to get some opinions on it first. I've heard it's pretty good overall.

Second is Amico stuff. I just saw this on the website:

Q: Will the VIP Amico bundle work outside of the USA?

A: Yes, but Amico will ship with a standard US plug, so you will need to purchase an adapter kit separately. We are also working diligently to ensure that all necessary regulations are met for as many major countries as possible; however, the impact of the global health crisis has been felt in this process. If, at launch, Amico is not able to ship to your country, we will refund your order.

Question is should this come to pass for Founders Edition, think you can ship it to my parents in the USA instead? Amazon USA is actually currently not shipping stuff to Japan, it seems, which is pretty annoying if I want books or what have you in English.

Is Tiger King good?  My dad just started it and he said I would probably like it.  Worth the watch?

It is good. In a twisted way. Even if you are so so through the first episode, by number 2 it will suck you in. Each one has it's twists and turns. They set you up clearly for a 2nd season.  Half of me wants you to license the Tiger King game for the Amico. To see what you could do with it. The other half has to scrub himself off Karen Silkwood Style. Purchase it with a gift card. Hope that it's a one player only game. Then not tell a sole that I purchased it. THEN hope your servers are that secure and you don't sell that info...  If that isn't an endorsement, I don't know what is.

What I'm saying is: watch it.

Question about the VIP/FE extras (the RFID card, signed running man card/poster & the access to get the soundtracks), will these items be packed in the box with the Amico units or will they be received separately?  I received my 25% discount code with in my receipt e-Mail so I was wondering how the other items would be received.

Nope, part time Intellivision homebrew programmer, part time friend of the Canadian Intellivisionaires mouth piece/box hoarder, I was on an episode once, and somehow ended up Cheez-its shopping with another Intellivisionaire podcaster at a Portland Walmart one PRGE.

In the words of Han Solo:

Its true, all of it.....

In the "independent thread," Tommy mentioned this --

"I'm totally being serious... my dad can NOT turn the PS4 on.  And I always forget which side the ON button is as well.  And that should tell you a LOT!  Gaming machines have become SO complicated that the average person can't even TURN THEM ON! "

Apologies if it's been explained already, but that peaked my curiosity.  What, if anything, is different on the Amico that makes it easier to power on than the others?   I googled it but found info on Amico Mig Welders instead  😁

I've looked for the power button for 10-15 minutes and had to refer to the instruction to see where the power button was when I brought the PS4.  It's a very small button right next to the BR-drive.  I don't blame your dad on that one.  The Xbox360 and the Wii/WiiU have a round obvious power button on the front.

Ok ok he can use Marvel properties too.

I was trying to limit him to non-spiderman franchises but you can't argue with what they've done with those awesome movies.

Hey speaking of superheroes....anyone remember Alpha Flight?  They were like the Canadian version of X-Men.

I would love to have a game come out with them in it.

Yes, I remember Alpha Flight.  I have a bunch of issues.  A guy I went to school with (Scott Lobdell) was the writer on that book in the early 90’s.  He wrote the first comic story in which a character openly declared they were gay in Alpha Flight.

Eating crow is a colloquial idiom, used in some English-speaking countries, that means humiliation by admitting having been proven wrong after taking a strong position. The crow is a carrion-eater that is presumably repulsive to eat in the same way that being proven wrong might be emotionally hard to swallow.

And while we are critiquing ps4...

For the love of all that is Sony can they make a disk system that you can top load.

Ps1 had one

Ps2 slim had one

Ps3 super slim had one

Why do I have to worry every time I put a disk in that it won't ever come back.

THIS is one of the main reasons most of my ps4 collection is digital.

And to piggyback on that....now I have to spend how much more to get a 4 or 5 TB Harddrive just to make sure one day my purchases won't disappear.

And dont get me started on their poor excuse for a store front.....

Can people start to see why Amico appeals to me?

Straight forward design.

A chance to collect ALL games and not worry that over 4,000 games will just be dumped on me and I'll have no way of easily finding what I am interested in.

The ability to house all my digital purchases on a small sd card.

No more worries about trying to find that extra $60 for that "must have" game which no one will be playing in 3 months.

Easy, short, "gameplay first" games that I can play solo or with others and not feel guilty for spending 300 hours last month on Disgaea 2 for the psp.....I've said too much.

Rant over.

That is super awesome.

I have the digital copies of 1 through 8 from comixology.

It's nice to meet a fellow fan. 🙂

Harddrive

If you care about preserving your digital games, HDD is not your best option. SSD is expensive, though.
