Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

@Tommy Tallarico , I've got a quick question.  I stumbled upon the original Intellivision press release today and was reminded of this:

"The first 100,000 people to sign up on the website will get the exclusive opportunity to purchase a special and unique Limited Edition version of the console which will not be made available in stores."

Is this still happening, or has this morphed into the Founders Edition/VIP pre-orders?  Thanks.

I think it turned into the FE/VIP pre-orders.  I do recall the press release.  A lot has changed this then.

Technically  everyone has a chance . As these might be the official  retail price minus the extras.

Technically, I think the woodgrain version isn't going to be sold in stores, so that's still a "limited edition of the console which will not be made available in stores" and we don't yet know how many of those are going to be made.

Yeah... that was the Founders Edition.

Fine by me.  I was just curious.  And I was able to pre-order the "Classic TRON" console, so I'm happy.  Thanks.

"Intellivision was the first video game console to have a built-in PAUSE feature on the controller."

I remember being able to push either the 1-9 buttons or the 3-7 buttons simultaneously to pause the system.

Has this cool little feature made it's way to the Amico?

Who else remembers playing games such as bowling or golf with your buddies, and when it was your turn (your buddy holding the other controller) would purposely push the disc just after you set up your shot (you could tell because the speaker from the TV would make a clicking noise) and it made your bowling ball curve into the gutter or your golf ball mysteriously shank into the trees or the sand trap.

"Hey! you pushed the disc and messed up my shot!!!"! NO I DIDN'T!!! Yes you did!, I heard the clicking sound you $#&$*% a** hole!!! 😆👉😖

Fists would fly, noogies and purple nurples would be given, my mother would get so upset because of all the ruckus going on. Competition was fierce!

So, a rule had to be put in place that the other controller could NOT be touched until the other persons turn was over.

Those were the good ol' days...lol 😂

Remember? This still goes on in my house.  Usually it's when we're playing Poker & Blackjack.  No peeking!!! It'll be nice when the cards won't be visible to everyone else.

I think Tommy mentioned that the woodgrain version will be sold at certain retailers but it won't have the perks of the FE or the VIP woodgrain.

I thought it was that the purple, red ones would be exclusives at certain retailers, but the woodgrain one would be exclusive from IE.

On the IE website under FAQs for the console, it says certain retailers will sell the woodgrain.

Will Amico be available in multiple colors?

Amico will be widely available in Glacier White and Graphite Black. Certain Limited Edition versions will be available at select retailers, including Vintage Woodgrain, GTO Red, and Galaxy Purple.

I got this from the IE website.

Wouldn't IE be a select retailer? :D

This is exactly the reason why all of the different choices are Special Limited Editions and not just normal choices.  The Black & White are the normal retail choices.  All of the others are special editions only obtained through special means and distribution outlets.  This becomes very important to a place like Walmart and GameStop if they are the only ones where a specific style can be obtained.  This is exactly why the brick and mortor retailers love us so much.  The same will be the case with our physical game media as well.  Each store has it's own special physical limited editions that can not be purchased anywhere else except for that specific store.

It also enables us to sell Limited Editions direct to consumers to obtain a better profit margin for the company (so we're able to provide more cool items like this).  And unless some retailer comes around and pays us a TON of money... you'll be seeing things like the Vintage Woodgrain only available through our mailing list and website.  :)  That way... folks know that any of those profits are supporting us 100%.

This is why I think woodgrain will be an IE website exclusive.  They view themselves as one of the retailers.  But things can always change.

In the spirit of togetherness I think the Trolls and the Shills should do a rendition of West Side Story....

Wait wait wait...

I'm starting to see the pattern here.

Glacier White

Graphite Black

GTO Red

Galaxy Purple

They ALL start with G!!!!!!

What's the deal Tommy????

The people have a right to know!!!!!

Oh and some will say there's a Vintage Woodgrain but that's ONLY sold in their online store....so the public...those good citizens of the world...they will see Gs everywhere ... everywhere ..it'll hypnotize the masses and they'll all be under a spell.

Sure the Vintage and VIP (there's that V again or is it vegan....🤔) will not be swayed but the poor general public will fall under the influence of the G....

Gravy!!!!

I see it now the world divided into Vegans and Gravyites.

What a dystopian nightmare that will be.

I think part of it is that subscriptions weren't so typical for us. Yeah a subscription to a magazine or comic, but those were physical and in a lot of ways not as convenient. Younger generations have had more options. Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc. are all things that people have been use to. Do people even remember you could get DVDs from blockbuster or Netflix for awhile?

You can still get a DVD subscription from Netflix....I have one.
