I know there are many comic book fans here, so here's a question: has any of you tried to read ALL the issues from a particular comic book hero?

I have digital versions of all Superman comic books. Since he's my favorite hero from the major ones (because of the sci fi nature of his story), I'm sometimes tempted to read Action Comics #1 and go on with #2,#3... I'm sure we would discover a few interesting  cultural things along the way (and perhaps read a few good stories too).

Of course, this would be easier for a Spiderman fan like Tommy, as he was created in the early 60s.

Yes, though "hero" might be a bit of a stretch.  I have corrected/amassed/hoarded all the Comics for Groo the Wanderer.   Starting with the Pacific run, then Epic/Marvel, Image, and Dark Horse.

Also, Conan the Barbarian.  I don't have all the various Conan Titles, but I've read them all.   I do have complete collections of Conan the Barbarian, and the Savage Sword of Conan (the big ol' black and white mag)

Not bad! According to this, there are around 700 Conan comic books since 1970. I should give it a try some day, I liked Roy Thomas in Infinity Inc. as a kid.

In other news, our favorite Podcast has unlocked a new achievement: to answer the question "Will Another Major Game Console Be Released NOT from Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft" without even saying the word "Amico" (mentioned only once as "the new Intellivision console") and with a picture of the Ouya in the background.

Of course, their answer is no, because the Ouya was $100 and still failed.

At this point, I think they have realized they're creating a Streisand effect and, since this is personal now, the best way to help the Amico fail is not giving it free promotion in their podcast.

That would be pretty interesting, and probably a pretty large task.

Are you going to include all comics with Superman in them as a main character? Or just the main Superman series?

I clicked off almost instantly. When I saw their Patreon pop up and them start begging it was hilarious.

I feel really bad for people who pay them money to do this. But I do want to say it's good they left Amico OFF this and didn't mention it. I think Pat and Ian need to just drop it because it's not doing what they want for their "channel."

I have a question I asked a while back but don’t think it got answered. Will the 50$ gift card with the FE be in US dollars ? I am in Canada but am obviously paying for the console in US dollars. I realize it would be complicated to give everyone the equivalent in US dollars, but I thought I would ask.

Also can we expect a new video today from IE ?

I played Mario Kart on the SNES classic with my niece on Easter, even though we're supposed to be on lock down.  She kicked my butt.  I never had the SNES version and that control is hard to figure out and plus, she picked the 100cc difficult and we couldn't complete the Flower Cup.  Then we played Donkey Kong Country.  She had a hard time with it because she didn't know to hold the jump button to completely jump.  I held the run button and plowed through world 2 until the save point.  I played the crap out of that game back when I was her age, 12.  I even got the Gameboy color version.  When she left, I chose to play Star Fox 2.

Amico I believe would be a better multiplayer platform for everyone and I think that's what we need now.

Whatwasthatsound name reminds me of a satire reviewer on youtube.  *sniff sniff sniff* What's that sound?  Oh, there's a bomb in my room. I'll go fix it.

I just find it interesting that there are comments like THIS in a video about haters...

"The problem is the mouthpiece for the thing has been running a muck talking his ass off about how the thing would be at a certain price point, would have original games, would never use crowd funding, etc. etc. etc. Everything he's said has proven to be a complete lie, so calling anything hate is a bit much. People are rightly critical about yet another retro gaming brand revival making promises with little or nothing to back it up. Everybody has seen these clowns come and go before with nothing to show but empty promises, bullshit and excuses."

So the person calling me a liar is so misinformed that the points he is saying I lied about... are actually lies themselves.

Talk about zero self-awareness.

:)

Trying to stay out of it, but had to respond to that one.

This thread is entertaining and bringing back a lot of memories, especially about 80's New England.  I'm from Maine, and we had a drugstore chain called LaVerdiere's, and by the mid 80s they all had arcades attached to them.  You go $20 worth tokens if you brought in a report card with all A's and B's.  Loved that place.  Growing up in northern Maine required some serious travel for legit 'entertainment'.  The closest amusement park was actually the one in Mass you have been talking about!  We never went, the rides make me puke.  I love going fast, but I have to be the one steering the ship.

Anyway, on topic:  Playing cornhole again today, and found myself wondering if the user will be able to create their own board graphic design?  We built and painted our own for the backyard, it would be cool to bring them 'inside', so to speak.  Minor stuff, I know.  Just curious.

Did you ever go to Old Orchard Beach in Maine?  My family rented a cottage there almost every year when we were growing up.

For this first version of Cornhole folks won't be able to design their own boards.  Trying to keep the first versions of everything as simple and non-intimidating as possible.  But something we would look into for Cornhole 2 for sure.

As an old-head Intellivision fan, (same age as Tommy) one of the things I'm looking forward to most on Amico, is the eventual re-release of all the old Intellivision games, because this will be the first re-release that will also include all the LICENSED content the original system had (Tron: Deadly Discs, Burgertime, Bump 'n Jump, Lock 'n Chase, etc.)

Tommy, can you give an approximate time frame for when the old games will be re-released for the Amico?

Probably Christmas of 2021 if I had to guess... but could be even later depending on much we've ramped up by then.

I seriously wonder what these people will do with their lives in about six months, when the Amico is shipping and people are having fun with it.  Their entire world won't make sense anymore.

It also cracks me up that it's literally the same 5 or 6 people in EVERY video.  At this point I gotta assume that these are teenage boys or something.

Every issue of Spider-Man (and all the spin-off's... even the shitty Spider-man 2099).  I stopped collecting about 10 years ago though so don't have anything modern.  Same with all the Daredevils, Tomb Raider, Star Wars (Marvel series), Fathom and Danger Girl.

I'm sure there are others... both those are the completed sets I have and have read every one.

I have ISSUES!

(SEE WHAT I DID THERE!!!!)

😂

They will try to find all the negative exceptions.

A controller that does not work among the 100,000 sold !

They are going to look for a person who has dropped his controller and smashed the television screen like seen with the Wii !

(If they can't find any video, they will buy a controller to do it themselves ! lol) Etc.

I think they will be worse than today. They are currently recruiting their soldiers. Unfortunately, they want to start a war.

But I think in about a year, most of the storm will be over.

I listened to most of it and can now with certainty say... THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT WHEN IT COMES TO THE MODERN VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY OUTSIDE OF NINTENDO.  I'm not even exaggerating... literally almost everything that came out of their mouths was factually incorrect.  And the laziness and Nintendo bias is so off-the-charts it's unbelievable.  All they needed to do was take 5 seconds to Google "How many units did Ouya sell" to find out the actual answer.  But instead... they just assumed the worst and just made up whatever they thought would fit their narrative.  Their number was in the tens of thousands when the data shows over a million.  I seriously feel sorry for anyone who watches these guys and thinks they are getting accurate information.  It was pretty mind-boggling actually.  I maybe will watch one of their videos when they talk about us, but have never seen any of their material that isn't related to us.  Holy crap!  Are they always this far off the mark??

The other moronic thing is that there are actually other major consoles and players already in this generation... Google Stadia and Facebook owned Oculus.  I'm not saying they are as popular as the big 3... but the title of the video was "Will Another Major Game Console Be Released NOT from Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft".  The answer is YES.  2 more are already here.  And I'm pretty sure both Google & Facebook are considered "major".  Yet their answer was no.  They either completely forgot... or maybe they don't even know Stadia & Oculus exist?  No idea.  It's also apparent that they know nothing at all about the video game industry from a business standpoint... especially when it comes to the business of Nintendo.  They belittle Sony and say they don't have enough support and first party titles to continue as long as Nintendo does.  Really?  So the fact that Sony has doubled, tripled and sometimes quadrupled Nintendo sales for both software and hardware for the past 25 years means nothing (exception being... wait for it...  that family friendly Wii console that was sold to casuals and non-gamers).  The fact that Sony is completely diversified and owns movie studios, music catalogs, lots of the electronics industry, major technology patents, etc. means nothing?  They are an $80 billion company.  Nintendo (although impressive!) is barely half of that.  Then they dismiss Microsoft which is worth about $720 BILLION.  I'd say they have enough money to stick around if they wanted.  :)

Anyway... that was the first non Amico video I've seen of those two and holy crap... I thought they were misinformed about just us... but clearly it's a pattern.  I'm guessing they know a ton of stuff about NES carts and Nintendo.  That's cool.  They should probably stay in that lane then.

Yikes!

Today it's Monday.

I've been collecting bad news since the beginning of the month.

So I'm going to allow myself a stupid question, but one that will reassure me a little.

Tommy, for Moon Patrol will there be several different musics according to the levels, or it will always be the same, although it is excellent.

I think of trust and Value, and your talent as a composer, and I tell myself that it is certain that it will. But fragile as I am these days,  I would need to hear it from you !😆  lol

THANK YOU
