Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

The easiest way to debate haters or people who think this may not succeed, is to not get into a back and forth and to basically not debate them at all. Simply say. " Yeah you may be right this may not sell but then again maybe it will, we will see in the next couple years".  Thats it. There really is no need to debate points because truth be told, no one knows if this will work yet. Launching a new product is tough, status quo IMHO is always the toughest wall to break through.  IMHO I think the Amico has a good chance of selling but its still gonna be tough.

Big question.  What are the screens on the controllers made out of?  Tommy said it wasn't glass and it wasn't plastic.  Logically that can only mean IE somehow invented transparent aluminum.  I've got to admit, I'm perplexed as to what it could be.

Most display glass is an alumina silicate formulation, which is made up of aluminum, silicon, and oxygen.

Good gravy... I just downloaded Earthworm Jim from GOG (I forgotten I bought it like a year ago on sale).

Trying to use my 8 bit do sn30 pro+ on this game is like trying to walk upstairs backwards using only my tongue.

My goodness the crossbar doesn't work at all and the thumbstick only registers like 4 of the 8 way directions.  And standing still often makes Jim crouch and stand up it what can only be described as a spastic rendition of Pee Wee Herman trying to dance.

The game is probably the greatest game ever but thumbsticks aren't the way to go.

I know Tommy and the others didnt have anything to do with the port so I just mentioning that I cant (as yet) give a definitive thumbs up on this one.

Lol

😅

Now I know why I didn't download this....one of the reviews says this doesn't really have any controller support.

Good gravy

The biggest problem is they all want to be right. They've come online, they posted their big bad opinion, they want to be right. You can't say anything at all that's helpful because, when you try to, they just repeat what they've said and try to drown you out because there can be no other opinions but their own. It's like they've come to the conclusion they're right before they post and aren't actually trying to discuss anything.

Firstly, belated congrats on the launch of Amico Oasis! Three interviews uploaded in one night, and very enjoyable listening.

Second, do I detect a new catchphrase?

When you mentioned that the Karma Engine wouldn’t apply as single player, I was wondering if such allowances for more forgiving play could be adjusted.

I spend hours a day figuring out and testing the best ways to come at games from a completely different angle so that EVERYONE can play yet still keep it challenging for more experienced players.

i just really hope that in your desire to make the console "accessible" to everyone, you don't end up gelding it to the point where it becomes a total pansy machine. 😡

The game was never intended for analog sticks... so it doesn't surprise me.

Yet another strange thing that people are so against us about without ever considering.

"OMG! They should just put in on PS & Switch & Steam! Why make it just for a stupid platform no one is going to buy".

Use JoyToKey. Alternatively, find the Windows 95 or Sega CD versions since those are just plain better. I know the Sega CD version is expensive, and I imagine the Windows 95 version probably is. Unknown if the Windows 95 version works on modern operating systems.

Never mind, Windows 95 is cheap. Not sure how well it compares to Sega CD since it's been like 20 years since I last played the Windows 95 version, but it's a good port.

I grew up in Springfield, MA which is right next to Wilbraham, MA

We go to Springfield every February and spend a long weekend to go to the Northeast RV show at the Eastern States Expo Center.  We always have a great time.  One of my best friends (known him since elementary school) managed a Friendly's while we were in collage.  Always loved going there to eat, he would jack up the syrup on my orange sodas for me! I also loved the Fribbles.  All of the Friendly’s shut down in NY decades ago.  My daughter went to college at Montserrat College of Art in Berverly, MA and we would pass that big Friendly’s sculpted hedge along the Mass Turnpike near Springfield.  We looked into it and realized Friendly’s was still around and there is one about 1/2 mile from Eastern States.  We always do a lunch there every time we go.

Sorry for the ramble!

I agree hyperchase is super sensitive I do get use to it after a while but man it moves so fast once you get it up to speed.

Yeah!  We would stop in a HoJo's every once in awhile (typically on the Mass Pike on our way home from the Boston area) and get ice cream as well!  Are they still around??  (the ice cream)

There is one about ten miles from my house in Newburgh, NY.  I think Wyndham bought them out, at least that is how comes up when I Google it: “Howard Johnson’s by Wyndham, Newburgh, NY.”.  I don’t know if they still sell ice cream there though, maybe at that family owned one that was mentioned.
