Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

May be some days before they post their latest ~30 min Amico clip, so for any following the latest in "how do we paint Intellivision as a scam or irrelevant industry presence, here's the CUPodcast link.  Coverage begins at the 44:43 mark.

Even on the sales numbers from preorders, Pat needs to quickly quip "If those numbers are to be believed"... as any opportunity to cast doubt or aversion or shape any development as absurd or wrong-doing or shady simply can't be left unsaid.  It's like a verbal tick.

How about we start our "Wish Lists" for classic arcade games to get ported to the Amico!

My apologies if I'm late to the party, and this has already been done in the previous ~600 pages.

Here's some of mine :

Scramble

Qix

Phoenix

Gorf

Robotron

Sinistar

Rally-X

Time Pilot

Zaxxon

I'm sure there's others that will get jogged loose if I see other people's lists.

Hope this brings back good memories for some folks too!

I know it gave me a few good moments trying to shake the cobwebs loose of all those spent quarters in the dark arcades of my youth!

Wow, that was interesting. In short, they said everything has been done before and there are some red flags related to financing. Also wondered why the last video was public, "nobody cares stuff like that other than possible investors". Can they really be that much outside of their minds..

this gaggle of gigglers I seriously doubt spend much time around children

I think they do, because I am pretty sure they ARE children themselves, they couldn’t be more than 15-16 years old, so I wouldn’t expect them to understand the value proposition of this kind of product, or admit that it would be fun to play with their parents or young siblings again😆

Always meant to ask you how you got your handle in here!

How about others here??  Tell us the significance of your name you use in AA.

Supahwally is my handle at GTPlanet.net, so I continued using it here.  My name is Willis, after my grandfather.  My coworker calls me Wally, for reasons neither of us can remember.

'Supah' is how it sounds when Maine people say 'super'!  Ayuh!

Flowbee Pete makes some fun videos! Except showing off that haircut, while the rest of us turn into Grizzly Adams.

Then I guess us old guys will fit in with the look these young hipsters are going with these days.  Just need to add a pair of plaid shorts, dress socks, and sandals!

Phönix is such a great game that I and friends played it not only hours but many years on the commodore 64 in the 80`s. And Taito makes nothing with it since many years. Its still a favorite Slide & Shoot Classic for many Retro Gamer. Taito has so many great games at the past. Many of them I also have on the Wii. Like Arkanoid. Thinking of a Arkanoid with music from Tommy that would be awesome... Jungle Hunt totally forgot the game. Had it on the Atari VCS 2600 and that also a good one :).  Rastan is also great game. Elevator Action was also an awesome arcade game. I heard its still in japanese Arcades today . Arkanoid, Space Invaders, Darius, Bubble  Bobble, Bust a Move, Rainbow Islands are all Games that Taito is still releasing (many were on the Wii Shpp and some are now released as Collections for the Switch.

Ok. Media Markt and Saturn are mostly everywhere in germany :).

Will check then the Shop on the Amico Page.

I also love his posts and I don't think he should change them in any way... Simply adding a final "TL;DR" line with the conclusions of the whole message. This way, the long posts would be even more interesting even if you don't feel like reading them, it can work like a subtle invitation to read the 40 lines. 🍸

I didn't think Phoenix belongs to Taito; they did license it for the Japanese market.  I played the arcade game a lot back in the early 1980s.  Amico will have Demon Attack which is somewhat similar to Phoenix.

That's true!  Whenever I see a new book, er... post by RetroAdvisoryBoard, Tommy reacts much like Lucille Bluth does to Gene Parmesan in Arrested Development.  😁

Random question, Tommy. I saw a while ago you said Super Mario World is your favourite game. Do you have the arcade cabinet for it? I played it in an arcade in Anchorage when I was a kid one time. I have never owned a Super Nintendo (but I have had a Super Famicom since 2014!), but all of my friends had one and of course Super Mario World, so it was really cool to go in there and see Super Mario World in an arcade cabinet. I have never seen it since, though.

Caught some new  images in the European press release. Looks like a early Farkle build with inverted dice. There is a view of the land mine in Moon Patrol.

Thanks for the Farkle pic. The only ones shown so far haven't actually been of Farkle and were more the tech demo for the dice rolling reature. Now I'm curious as to how the controller plays into this.  Will you use the touchscreen to select which dice you want to roll again?

On a related note, Farkle is one of my mom's favorite games. So the other day I told her that a new Intellivision was coming out this year and that Farkle and Cornhole would be included for free.  I've never heard the woman get so excited. Then she paused for a moment and said, "Intellivision. That's the one with BurgerTime, right? Can I play BurgerTime again on it?" When I said yes, she got even more excited.  So to prove a point, my mother (who is over 70) is looking forward to and excited about Amico. She also owns a Wii (yes, for bowling) and no, she has no interest in a Switch, PS5, or any other type of game console.  She and my dad play solitaire on their iPads nightly, and she thought it would be a lot of fun to have something they could play together.

Also happened to notice that the screenshot of Cornhole in the press release material still has the error calling it "Conhole."  Just to give you a heads up.

Now all this forum really needs is a dry narrator on the level with the audience.

Tommy:  "AAAAAAaaaaaahhhh, that was just fantastic!  Isn't he brilliant?!"

Narrator:  "Retro Advisory Board was far from brilliant"

OK, a narrator, and a forum banana stand where we've stashed away the Intellivision fortune.

And a Tobias Fünke, mid existential/mid-life crisis.

Tommy, I would just ignore all the negative videos out there from here on out. Just focus on releasing positive videos, new information, and updated interviews.

What's happening is what you said would happen... As the Amico is getting closer to launch more Youtube channels are picking up on it and these channels thrive off negativity. In that latest video I just saw Rayken's Youtube battle with someone who is completely determined to say that you're using crowdfunding on Indiegogo 2.0 or something.

These people have no cares or concerns for Amico or you. They just want to destroy something and be as negative as humanly possible at all times online and in every comment section. It's the internet anonymity that breeds this ridiculous attitude and I don't think it matters in the end, these people are always going to exist. Thankfully they are very small channels and the amount of positive channels drowns them out. When someone like Metaljesus gets ahold of the Amico and makes a video his stuff will get 100x the amount of views and drown everything else out.

So just keep doing what you're doing. There's always going to be these totally uneducated hateful people who want to make up stuff for views.

Also - I noticed a lot of people keep glumming onto this "Earthworm Jim 4 is minigames" idea. I think you may have at one time mentioned something like that, but I keep seeing it brought up a lot and these hardcore people are really latching onto a totally non-official/unsure statement.

P & I are not "youth". Both of them are pushing 40, if not already there.

im gonna admit im having a hard time. the whole amico promise was no kickstarter, no crowdfunding. fig has given these people unlimited ammo and its troublesome. gonna keep doing my best but we've got our pal djconvoy fighting me now and its an uphill battle. shouldnt have done the crowdfunding tbh. preorders gave them a lot of ammo but now i cant fight them very well. at this point amico is a crowdfunded device to the haters. theres not gonna be much way i can get it into their head fig and kickstarter are different entities. im gonna keep fighting and i did preorder again but fig was prolly a bad move after saying no kickstarter. theyve got two blades that slice me open now 199.99 to 249.99 price hike and promise of no kickstarter but now its on fig. just keeping it real the heavy handed statements over and over this wasnt gonna be crowdfunded are hurting the people who try to defend.

btw djconvoy you are being watched on here bud. its pretty obvious you check this thread daily and constantly and have nothin bbetter to do with your time than shit on tommy and amico at every corner. for calling it tommys safe space you sure love hanging in here too. especially when its a device you are not interested in it at all.
