Congratulations to Tommy and to Intellivision Entertainment for making such an excellent and exciting addition to the Amico team!

Looking over the various videos about this latest development, and reading through the comments, I've noticed a recurring theme.  I've addressed it here before, but I feel as if it bears repeating now.  (Now, before anybody starts whining ... I've already stated that we shouldn't use these forums to "call out" specific individuals, or to post their external comments for the purpose of ridiculing them, but the following is a composite of several commenters' arguments, so nobody is being individually "targeted" or "attacked" here.)  The argument goes something like this: "It's ridiculous to attack any and all critics of the Amico as 'haters.'  I don't want the Amico to fail; I just don't think it can succeed.  I've seen the games, and I'm just not impressed by them, and I don't see why anyone would want to buy a $249 console to play them, no matter who you add to the team.  How is that being a 'hater'?"

Well, if that's your genuine opinion, that's fine**, but realize that you're making a statement about yourself, not about the Amico.  In other words, if you still can't understand the potential appeal of the Amico as a product, even with the team behind it and the attention building around it, you should at least consider the possibility that it may be because of a failure of imagination on your part, not because the product itself lacks merit, and that this may be a time to step outside your bubble and expand your horizons a bit.  The most sensible thing to do at this point is to sit back and be quiet and let the marketplace decide whether it succeeds or not ... and if you're not content to do that, maybe you really do "want the Amico to fail" after all, and if that isn't being a "hater," what is?  Something to think about, preferably before you fire off yet another tiresome batch of bellicose YouTube comments.

I've said before that these "critics" remind me of the critics of Purple Moon, the company that Brenda Laurel founded in the 1990s to produce entertainment software for girls.  She too came under attack from hardcore gamers and others in the gaming industry who had a vested interest in the status quo and felt threatened by her work, and I think Chris Crawford's remarks about them apply equally well to these "critics" of the Amico:

Simply replace "Brenda Laurel", "girls", and "Purple Moon" with "Tommy Tallarico", "families", and "Intellivision Entertainment", respectively.  I think the observation fits perfectly.

** (Just do the whole world an enormous favor and please don't beat other people over the head with your opinions, or claim that they're "not critical thinkers" or that they're "cheerleaders" or "Kool-Aid drinking cultists" who are "blind to reality" just because they happen to disagree with you.)

These people just can't and won't ever get it, even how you have just spelled it out once again. It's like speaking and explaining things to a toddler. They only hear what they want to hear.   If your post here doesn't ring a bell in their brain nothing will. Thanks for posting this Jaybird !!!

That'd be 80 dollars CAD for us in Canada.
Amico pricing for the win!

Great news about Mr. Allard!  I believe the ball is rolling downhill now.  Glad others have figured out it's time to move on from the smallminded manchildren on youtube, and begin engaging the target audience.

Speaking of non-target audiences, the Amico thread I started Jan27 at GTPlanet.net has crossed 1000 views.  It's a forum for people mostly interested in console based driving games/sims, so I'm a bit surprised.  Not much in the way of additional comments or discussion, which is fine with me, I'm happy it's attracted that many eyeballs.

Agreed.

It feels like with today’s announcement of Allard, it’s a good time to put a line in the sand and leave the haters behind... leave those folks to play by themselves in the kiddie sandbox reserved for people whose contribution to the discussion has little (if any) value, and doesn’t appear based on any sort of reality.

If there is going to be doubts about Amico’s success, I’d rather hear from people who can thoughtfully articulate their thoughts and engage in a meaningful conversation with Tommy, Allard, etc.

I imagine Covid is going to mess with the release date to some degree, but without that, we’d be about 5 months away from release. Five months!! This is no time to waste efforts on the people who just don’t get it and are entrenched in hating it. There are more exciting things to talk about.

Love what you sa8d its definitely something I need to adopt.  Thanks

Tommy's announcement was great news to wake up to this morning.

To celebrate I am wearing my Amico tee shirt today and so it looks even better (or I do) I asked my wife to shave my neck first! It's a lovely sunny day so I will be showing it off in public.

Congratulations to all at Intellivision for making the band bigger and better. 👍

Awesome news Tommy.

Sidenote: I was talking with a buddy at work who was lamenting (I was as well) the fact that Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was released for phones for like three dollars and not for the Nintendo Switch. He didn't understand it and then I reminded him of the numbers of people that play video games on their phones and not consoles. I then asked how much he thought they would charge for it on the Switch and he said about $15. I said do the math; that's why they released it for Android and Ios and left the Switch in the dust. I think that there is what cunts like Pat and Ian are afraid of.

EDIT: And then the bitch bought it for his iPhone.

My GOTO 1st new movie media experience has ALWAYS been The Fifth Element!  It always seems to be the demo they have and play (the Diva singing/Leeloo kicking ass scene).  DVD, Blu-Ray, Ultra 4K, Ultra 4K w/Dolby Atmos... I literally think I have probably 10 different versions of that movie in every and all formats (even the Europe versions as they had different extras).  Tin box, alternative covers, etc., etc... it's the only movie that I have in ever single format and will buy new every time there is a new version.

Others like that for me is Raiders of the Lost Ark, TRON & Tombstone.  Could watch those (along with The Fifth Element) multiple times and still enjoy them.  All the Rocky movies, Lord of the Rings & Star Wars are up there as well (for multiple versions on different platforms).

I remember seeing a Raiders demo for laser disc.  So, so glad I was still about a year or two from becoming a consumer for that type of product 🤣

My go to demos are Eagles live in DTS and Apollo 13, the launch scene.

Tommy! Congratulations on your hiring of Michael Stipe. He is truly a legend in jangle pop. I'm sure he's exited to get back to work ever since REM broke up. 😊

Dang, Tommy literally juked us.

Yeah!!  I gave a little hint there a few pages back.   :)

That's his Ferrari 360.  The one he named the Xbox 360 after.  Hahaha!

If you watch the whole video from the beginning... the end (and joke) makes a more sense.  It's pretty hilarious!

He's great.

YES!!!

I was contracted by DTS to do a ton of sound work... including their logo!  They even gave me stock in the company!  Great friends with their CEO.

Seven Bridges Road in 5.1 is absolutely EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m wondering if Adventure is planned for 2021. I’m really looking forward to a remake of that one. I have fond memories of that game but it’s just not that fun now. Unfortunately It doesn’t stand up well for me in 2020, but what a game it was at the time !!! Bring on The Amico Version 😎😎😎
