Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

I heard the Atari VCS coming out is $400 for the 8GB model.  Isn't that crazy?  That's too expensive for a measly 8GB.  Amico wins with having 32GB on board and for a lower price as well.

8GB is their RAM.  Our RAM is 2GB.  One of the main reasons their pricing is so much higher than ours.

For the type of games we're doing... we don't really need more than 2GB.  And RAM is EXPENSIVE!!  To go from 2GB to 4GB is around a $10 materials hike.

Question about the Evel Knievel game: Will there be a mode to play through all of Evel's jumps? Would love to have a "Career mode"  that starts from Lake Moses. Going all the way to the Sharks in Chicago.  Also is there a possibility that this will this be a physical game?

Yes to all those questions!

:)

Those are some pretty exciting ideas. I wonder if @Tommy Tallarico will comment at all and give any hints on being warmer or colder...

See the source image

I think they will capitalize on the pictures of family and friends playing together and how cool the system will look. Of course we'll probably see screenshots of games packed in and future releases.  Just some thoughts...

I think our box is super cool and really unique.  Like the machine itself... the art style is simple yet powerful.  Will reveal closer to launch.

Snafoo in the works already (hoping for launch) and we haven't started Sea Battle yet... but will be at some point for sure!

I've noticed you spell it "Snafoo". Is this the new kid friendly version?

I don't have kids but I appreciate the kids friendly decisions. I love my switch, and classic PC games like Duke Nukem 3d, but I was super shocked to see the game on the eShop with a full on trailer of his lines like "I'll rip off your head and [email protected]#& down your neck" and "shake it baby" as he offers cash to the stripper. That game was a lot of fun when I was a teenager, but man not good for a kid to see. I wonder how much of that you could block from a kid after handing them one. Seems pretty much like an adult machine with kids friendly games.

Some things I found interesting in the Factor 5 Podcast in Germany:

http://www.spieleveteranen.de/archives/2836

Katakis the Amiga (Factor 5) and C64 (Manfred Trenz) game started as different R-Type Clones first. After problems with Activision after the Katakis release they programmed R-Type for Activison on the C64 (Manfred Trenz) and Amiga (Factor 5) in 3 weeks. Turrican C64 from Manfred Trenz was portet for the Amiga by Factor 5. The Atari ST Version was made by 1 one them at the same time as he programmed Turrican 2 for the Atari ST. Turrican 2 was directly build for the Amiga and ported to the C64.

Licensing of the turrican games or version ports seems possible. Analouge has made such a deal not long ago.

They planed to reveal someething for 30 Years Turrican at the Gamescom 2020 but that was not happening cause of Covid 19.

And they want to look whats gamescoms digital event is all about and if they annouce something there. They all work now for Epic Games on everything that Epic Games makes. Tools, Games, Engines.... Only Chris Hülsbeck is not at Epic games he makes his own thing with his great game music.

Turrican or anything from Factor5:  As an Amiga fan, I was a loyal disciple back in the day (I think they had even started work on a Rescue on Fractalus remake or sequel back in the day that was dropped), so if they ever become a dev and revisit Turrican, I'd be over the moon.

Tommy:  May be difficult getting some of the Star Wars licenses but work towards getting some of the older Lucasfilm licenses, would be fun to revisit Rescue on Fractalus or BallBlazer on Amico.  On that note, wouldn't it be something to see some of the old style adventure games on the Amico, like Secret of Monkey Island, etc?  Because of the puzzle nature of these games and the humor, I think some day these are bound to become REAL popular again!  My wife and I used to play the old Space Quest and ... er... LSL game together, because a family that laughs together, stays together and those games were hilarious :)

good memories but Evel was no match for our living room wall and Im pretty sure in the summer my dog would chase him and bite him when he was going ( guessing the dog hated that windup noise)

Evel is unstoppable, you must be confusing him with his Canadian cousin Duke Caboom. The only thing Evel lacked over Caboom was the 70's porn handlebar 'stach ;)

In all fairness to Duke, he kept that promise.  So in a way, that's just a good role model right there, teaching our youth the value of always keeping your word.

Hi All,

Sorry i haven't been around for a while. Get ready for a weird Golden Ticket question :)

I do not own a cell phone :) I have received a e-mail from Intellivision stating that they know I have 2 golden tickets and that I'm entered for the contest on July 15th. Only thing is i have 3 golden tickets.

So my wife downloaded the Amico club app on her phone and when you load it up but you're not yet into the moon patrol demo you can scan the golden ticket that then takes you to a Cloudy Mountain demo video and tells you that's it. It doesn't ask for your info like e-mail or anything like that. I did this once for each golden ticket i have.

Does anyone know if this is the correct way to go about it? Do i need to do anything more?

Cheers all,

The Wren

The email says the following in fine print at the bottom:
* If you feel this number is incorrect, let us know by replying to this email. Please note the drawings are for holders of Merchandise Golden Tickets, which are different from Golden Ticket Gift Cards included with Amico Pre-Orders.

I don’t get what makes the “OO” more family friendly than the “U” ? I get the idea with the “F” and the “U” being mentioned but in all these years, it never entered my mind. Maybe I’m just slow 😜

Thats great News, Snafoo is timeless and should be very simple to present in a modern way.
