Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

I'm having a blast with the new demo.  But I keep dying, lol.  I wanna beat the level if possible.  It's hard playing on a phone.  This demo is addicting however.  It's all about the fun.

What ya need is some suction nurples (patent pending) to play the game right.  But, at the end of the day, it's a teaser app meant to tantalize.. controls make all the case why "You can't really just port these games to mobile" - glass has design limitations with active play.

What if the LFL 2020 The Game (Lingerie Football League) is headed to Amico!

seeing that its basically a c list franchise at best, it would be meaningless.

Moonpatrol demo was fun even though the controls were far from good. Can't wait to play it with Amico controller. I got to checkpoint M.

Yeah, that's about where I got.  The controller will definitely help.  Has anyone here beaten the new demo yet?  I do like the power up in the demo.  It only lasts a few seconds but it's cool.  Also, I like that there are checkpoints too.  Now all we need is the Breakout demo.

I haven't quite finished it, but I did defeat the new Moon Patrol by getting it to freak out on the end screen.

Any place I should file bug reports at @RxScram?

Over/under as to when the first "told you this a scam" video comes out if it hasn't already? Ugh. I'm getting tired of these garbage videos popping up in my YouTube Amico searches.

I hope the added announcement is that the system will be released on 10-10-2020 as originally planned!

Wouldn't that be the best possible news of all?

Yeah, YouTube can use a filter to check "this doesn't interest me" in the search results, as it has on your suggestion feed.  It's tiring, but that's their tactic - cheap, disposable and largely effortless videos to flood the results and create apathy, fatigue, even antipathy by those earnestly searching for Amico.  It'd be one thing if there was a point to most of them, but chiefly, they just serve as fodder, psychological warfare - overwhelm and muddy the results for anybody searching.

My bet would be "within 2 hours".

I don't understand what big announcement would put off an already rehearsed presentation just an hour before it was scheduled to go?  I get that they want to get the news in but that could have been done separately as a news release or a separate announcement / video.

I understand your point. Probably the video about this news was already done.

We will probably know more tomorrow.

I'll admit my ignorance about these two people. I’ve never watched their videos, but see them mentioned from time to time here, usually in a negative light. And obviously Tommy has talked about them in video interviews when asked.

Beyond apparently not liking Tommy and/or Amico, do they have some industry pull or influence?

In other words, why does anyone care what they say or think?

And I’m asking that sincerely because I’m not tuned into the video gaming world. My interest in console gaming dropped quite a bit over the years and it’s only because of the Amico that I’m paying attention to console gaming on some level again. So all these personalities that apparently everyone knows are a bit of mystery to me in terms of how they fit into the industry.

Short answer?  They don't, you shouldn't.  Asterisk.

The asterisk, because beyond why you shouldn't care about two guys with zero pull and influence in the video game industry, they do have some sizable platform on social media.  And Intellivision is incorporating some amount of a general buzz campaign within the retro gaming community to build enthusiasm for the development and release of a brand new platform.  You run into a modest-sized influencer with an ax to grind, with monthly (weekly) updates for his audience (30,000 viewers on YouTube, much larger on podcast?), it galvanizes AN audience.  And they lend some legitimacy through their size to the many small scavenger "channels" putting up a front of garbage videos.  See @cmart604's "not more of this" response to it, and he is PASSIONATE about Intellivision.  What does that do to the casual observer plugging in the search and filtering to what's newest to see what this system is all about?  It platforms them, they become a standard bearer.  In the long-run it doesn't much affect the prospects of the Intellivision Amico, but it is a deliberate thorn in the side of a company looking to talk with YouTube channels and podcasts as part of its strategy to generate buzz and leverage social media to spread information.  They occupy the space used to spread misinformation.

I suggest you ignore as best you can, @jaybird3rd had a fantastic post on sealioning as a social media behavior worth doing a search in this thread to review, it was very eye-opening.  If you must explore their takes, I have a new series started yesterday to address their talking points, the narrowness of their perspective and how that confirmation bias really misleads their take and misinforms an entire audience.  I won't be advertising it here, it's just there for the record, as said record seems easily malleable by a couple of podcasts hosts with a prerogative.

Why you gotta hurt me bro? :(

Sorry, just showing allegiance to my team. The NHL playoffs and this Amico event are the two biggest things on my radar right now. Getting ready for game two very soon!

Thank you!  Here is a direct link to the post you mention.  (And I agree: ignoring these people is still the best policy.)

My hope is the event goes smoothly tomorrow and that talking/whining point goes away. They have a 24 hr window to express their outrage at what a scam this is and how it continues to negatively affect their lives. 🤔😐😆

Tommy,

Will the full game of Moon Patrol have an option where you control the vehicle at all times?  In the demo the vehicle keeps moving even if you don't slow down or speed up.  It plays like an on rail shooter.  Did the original play the same?  Hopefully we can move the vehicle on our own in the full game.  It might make it easier to play.

Not sure anyone has mentioned this yet about Tommy's quick little video but I did like that he said they would be showing 20 games, 10 or so that we hadn't seen yet. That's great to hear. Let the speculation begin as to what they are.

Yes. That's Moon Patrol. Faster, same speed, slower, jump, and fire. Good Ol' Moon Patrol!

I really like the Amico Moon Patrol so far. The worst part is the annoying mobile controls, and that problem will be solved with the Amico controllers.

I appreciate the explanation. Thank you.

To a large degree, I do ignore it, but then wondered if I might have missed what seems to make them unique in their ability to generate attention here.

Since they were mentioned earlier today, and we all have 24 hours to kill until 10am tomorrow, I figured I’d ask. Thanks again.
