I don’t see the update for the Amico Club App on IOS .......anyone got it yet ?

@RxScram mentioned that the IOS app will take a bit longer due to the Apple approval process.

I don't understand what big announcement would put off an already rehearsed presentation just an hour before it was scheduled to go?  I get that they want to get the news in but that could have been done separately as a news release or a separate announcement / video.

My guess is that they want to do it all in one big, blowout announcement. Get as many eyeballs on one video instead of having some big news, or a huge deal get overlooked. Considering how much they were pushing today's event, then it has to be something pretty major that would make the entire event a bigger deal.

Aw man :(

I
've got a meeting tomorrow that can't be moved.

I'm gonna be relying on you guys for a full post-presentation breakdown of all the cool news!

Yes, I made this point on FB. I cleared an hour in my schedule to watch this live.  I can't easily clear out the same 1 hour window tomorrow.  I'm sure the VP will understand if I move our meeting booked a month ago with less than 24 hours notice.

Since I'm ticked, I'll add my hot take.  Giving us mobile versions of Amico games makes little sense to me.  So many talking points about how using a phone for games sucks...so they give us a mobile version of a game designed for an Amico controller and a TV screen?  I've worked on games where the development effort to do a demo really hurt the core game because it took time and effort away from that core game. You typically have to branch a pre-beta build, then make a lot of fixes on the demo which often don't port to the main game because you are hacking it to get the demo out the door. Sometimes it makes sense because the marketing value of the demo is worth it (I recall getting a demo in a few million Post cereal boxes once) but in this case, most of the people playing Moon Patrol on their phones aren't even the "target market" for Amico.  Since Amico will have a dedicated mobile app for additional controllers, I can see the value of setting up Android and iOS build pipelines and getting used to the submission process.  So that is something, I guess.

I was able to download the iPhone app.

The app itself has been on iOS for a while but there should be an update today.  Mine is still showing last update 6 months ago

I think the main point of the phone demo is to show actual game development progress being made and to give people a taste of the style of retro-reimagined games.

Oh, never mind. Probably would have been good for them to have that updated and online before the announcement then.

The problem is that you submit to Apple & Google and Google will often get things posted right away. Apple has a much more extensive "review" process which you never know how long it will take (and lord help you if they flag something on the app, may take days to resolve). Basically dealing with Apple on app publishing is a big pain.

That can be done by video and save the dev effort to make the mobile version of the game.

It's working now.  It just has to load for a while.

I noticed this version is much larger & graphically intensive - my craptastic Amazon tablet is both slow to load and glitchy to play.

Kinda true but videos aren't good enough for some people (see some Youtubers ignoring videos made back in March) and also if you want to explain or understand what a retro-reimagine game could be like, nothing is better than a hands on demo. There has been a ton of remakes over the years but retro people know that half the time they screw up the game play when they give it a fresh coat of pixels. For me getting a bit of hands on time and feeling the play style of a reimagined game is was huge.

If it is some big license, perhaps part of the deal was to get some feature time in the event, thus necessitating a delay...

Unfortunately I also have a meeting overlapping the first portion of the event.  Silver lining is that my internet is real flaky today so hopefully a better viewing experience for me tomorrow.

Does anyone know if I come into the stream 15 minutes late, can a start at the beginning and always be a bit behind or am I best waiting until it is over to watch in its entirety from the beginning?  I'm not sure I like the idea of jumping in during the middle and then going back to the beginning afterwards.

Noticed two things about the new Moon Patrol update ...

1. Major graphics update - cool.

2. I suck at Moon Patrol

See, for me I found the 1st Moon Patrol demo to be dull.  I didn't much like the visuals.  It definitely decreased my interest in this particular title (to be fair, I don't really like the OG Moon Patrol much either). The most recent video clip for Moon Patrol showed a lot more and brought my interest back up a bit.  It'll be interesting to see where today's demo shifts my interests.

I'm having a blast with the new demo.  But I keep dying, lol.  I wanna beat the level if possible.  It's hard playing on a phone.  This demo is addicting however.  It's all about the fun.  I was using the button option, maybe the tilt option is easier.

My top secret source has hinted at this possible game rumor that may or may not of delayed the Amico event.

Fellas, grab your joystick and a bottle of lub....beer!

What if the LFL 2020 The Game (Lingerie Football League) is headed to Amico!

The IOS update was approved and scheduled for update at 10:00 Pacific today. The problem is that it took some time to propagate through all of the Apple servers. Should be fully updated and live now.
