One person, whatever, they are the same person but just parodying the others’ crazy negative behavior as satire. He’s not meaning it to be serious, obviously.

That's one way to look at it. but the only other ones I see using that type of language he uses is the Darius truxton crew. I wish none of that was in the amico community. It took the fun out of it for me. Now amico YouTube is almost unwatchable. There's a couple that's still pretty good.

Well, he is trying to parody six or so trolls at once, lol, but, you're free to have your opinion.

Yep that's right both difference of opinions. you think he's paroding them I think he's one of them trying to make Amico fans look bad, I saw the video Rick did about him. It's either one or the other, I guess there's no way to know lol it's hard to tell with some of these accounts especially if they don't make videos themselves. Hopefully I can get my Amico question answered because I'm really curious

The one I asked earlier look up a few posts

He hasn’t been too specific. They have 10 million for advertising. Maybe they have some more for store marketing. I imagine it would be like the Nintendo Switch or 3DS ones I’ve seen in Target and Walmart. Maybe you’ve seen those. Might just keep them up for a shorter time after release and around Christmas if it is too expensive to keep one maintained indefinitely. No idea what the testing stands cost though.

If I were to guess $1000 on 1000 stores, that would be a million. But like I said, I don’t know how long $1000 lasts for a demo stand. A month?

He said they would do mall tours and have in-store demos, but that was before pandemic restrictions.

in-store demo sounds like it would be way too costly you'd have to pay people to do that, and train them. I would advise against that. There are products that do that but it's pretty annoying actually. the booth thing would cost for the space but you wouldn't have to pay someone to be there much like a vending machine.

Did you notice that this actual screen from Pong is the solo mode !  😉

Great catch! I am still not super excited for Pong, but they have really increased the game play options with fireballs, mini guns meets Brickout & inverse paddles. There is going to be a serious wacky factor with this one:

Yes ! The Breakout style is really cool.  You need to defend your walls while playing and trying to destroy the opponent's wall !

The mall tours would involve IE staff.  In store demos could be an amico demo unit with a couple of controllers chained to to the table and a TV.  Not sure who pays for the demo unit.  Arcade1up had in-store demo units.

Yo Tommy idk if anyone asked this but will there be achievements for games on the Amico

Yes, and in addition to what LePionnier stated, there will also be things like local accomplishments, something like a badge that shows that you have the best score on Astrosmash in Chicago or Montana, for example. Hopefully when they do the UI video in the coming days, he'll talk a little bit more about it.

My mom and I played the 2600 together a lot when I was a kid and we’d always write the best scores on the back of the manual for a given game... our equivalent of “achievement recognition” back then.

I am soooo sad I got rid of those manuals. I had them for a number of years, but in a purge of stuff, out they went.

If you figure it costs $500 for a person to visit stores in a city for a weekend x 30 employees = $15,000 for 30 cities in a weekend. If those 30 people visit a total of 300 cities over 10 weekends that would be $150,000. Maybe double that for salary. It’s not outlandish if money is set aside for it.

I think its going to be difficult for in-person demos for awhile which sucks. Maybe there will be a combination of influencers and some in-person events. Covid has really upended a lot of things, especially the way people see and interact with newly launched products. Honestly, I don't see myself going to the mall or anything anytime soon with the current situation as it is. The company I work for is doing a lot more work with influencers and social media to drive product awareness and engagement, in addition to collaborating on curated content. We send product pre-launch to them and they do unboxing and demos, etc. This is more ramped up now with the pandemic.

Looks like Sony is doing some hands-on demos outside of the company, but mostly with gaming outlets. https://www.engadget.com/sony-ps5-hands-on-videos-182601211.html

Maybe this was already mentioned but does the vintage woodgrain Amico have real wood?  Or is it painted to look real?  Tommy probably answered this before in a post or video.

Neither.  It's a special printing and plastics process to make it look amazing.  It looks exactly like real wood.  Doesn't look painted at all.

It's plastic. I believe during the early August live event, he had some samples and was having attendees express a preference for whether they liked the shinier glossy finish or the matte. I'm not sure which won out, although it seemed like more people voted matte, and the latest images I've seen seem to look more like the matte.

Glossy ended up winning as we did a lot of tests with people in person.  It's hard to see the difference over video and also keep in mind that the controllers (because of the polycarbonate face plate) are gloss.  So the gloss controllers in a matte woodgrain looked strange.  But trust me... the entire thing looks really sweet.  Will be posting pictures when we get the final metallic gold trimming 100% complete (going back and forth with different colors and amount of metallic).  It's not a lot of metallic, just enough to give it a real nice look.

@squirrelgotdead is right about the plastic although I think Tommy said that people in real life prefer the gloss so they may go with that. Of course it may still be up in the air since they won't go into production until closer to December. One other note, it isn't paint either. I believe they mold a laminate directly onto the plastic during the injection molding process. That is why specialty editions like the wood grain and galaxy purple cost more than just a simple color. The glacier white and graphite black are just colored resins mixed directly into the plastic, which is a lot simpler.

Bingo!
