Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Hello, folks! I'm new to Atari Age and I've joined because I'm really interested in the upcoming Intellivision Amico console. I've followed this topic for a couple of months and decided to sign up!

I'm excited about the launch of the console although, like a few other people based in the UK, I've just had my Amico console pre-order cancelled by Amazon UK due to - I believe - a misunderstanding by Amazon Europe of stock allocations. I've seen that Intellivision are working to try and get some more stock for Amazon Europe and I hope this can be achieved!

In the meantime I plan on keeping eyes on this thread and joining in the chat. It's great to see so many folk sharing their thoughts on the console.

Welcome totalamico there are a great bunch of people here, I’m sure you will fit right in 😀👍

Hee! Thanks, Starpaddler!

Hey, Silverbot, I'm glad you managed to get your pre-orders placed with Argos. After Amazon UK cancelled my pre-order yesterday, I tried pre-ordering with Argos but there seems to have been a systems glitch - I was charged twice but still didn't get a pre-order! I'm awaiting the money to be returned to my account and I'll probably hold off and see if Amazon UK gain any more stock.

Our sales folks are working with Amazon UK to try and get them more stock.  Hopefully we'll know something soon.

Yeah, my dad was trying to order one all afternoon, but the site kept on locking up. I’ve managed to get through and order 2 on my wife’s Argos card, so hopefully it will be 👍

I had started to write a Welcome aboard email. I stated that there is a good group of people. Fun. Engaging. AND best of all, all enthusiastic about the console. All are Honest. I actually was going to mention that even Tommy comes in and answers a ton of questions. Keeps us informed. Very Transparent. Almost to a fault.  We all signed up to "learn how the sausage was made".

I got called into a meeting for work and boom... The proof of what i was writing was already posted! Clear that post... Start a new one...

Ask any question. Share your thoughts!!!  Someone here will answer. :)

Haha! Great stuff, thank you woobman! Indeed, whilst reading the posts here during the past few months, one of the things I really like is the passion and enthusiasm for the Amico. To me, it feels like the console will be something fresh in the gaming scene.

Correct.

We dumped the 2 USB charging connectors in favor of 32GB instead of 16GB.

Definitely the right choice!

:)

@Tommy Tallarico (or someone on the IE Team) - FYI

FAQ’s on the website needs update under the console section (How much memory capacity does the Amico have?), as it current still reflects 16G.

Nice catch!!   We have it as 32GB in the SPECS section, but not the FAQ.  I'll get Daniel on it right away.  Thanks!

Question for everyone here!

We are going to be adding some classic Intellivision box art to the merch store.

Question 1:  Without licensed stuff, which box art would you like to see?  Definitely want the art to look cool.
Right now I have on my list:

Night Stalker
Astrosmash
Shark! Shark!
SNAFU
Star Strike
Utopia

What else?  (keep in mind... no licenses stuff.  That includes stuff like Tron, D&D, Burgertime, Imagic, Pitfall, etc.)

Question 2:  Would you want the size of the art to be the exact size of the box?  (approximately 8 inches long)
Or... would you prefer a bigger style like this:

Please let me know your thoughts.

I would say the size of the box or possibly much smaller than that, like a small version of the box in the top left corner of the shirt ! That would be a classy t-shirt ! I don’t personally like large pictures on my t-shirts.

For question 1 . Those you mentioned would be a great start !

To answer your second question.  I want the image to look big like it is on the shirt.  That looks great.

I like the larger option and my choices for good looking iconic box art would be:

1) Auto Racing

2) Sea Battle

3) Sub Hunt

4) Utopia

Edited to add Space Battle, can’t forget that one!

This is awesome!
Astrosmash, Big - just like the picture - would be a definite purchase for me.

may I add a suggestion: Some of the inlay art would also look really good on a t-shirt. Auto racing, Tennis, Skiing and Beauty and the Beast are some of the best inlay art Intellivision have had.

I like the larger picture as you have shown with Astrosmash!  I'd be down for a purple tshirt with Utopia for sure!

That Astrosmash shirt looks amazing with the larger art, so my vote is for that size.

@Starpaddler had some great additions but I think your list is pretty solid with Nightstalker, Astrosmash & Utopia being likely buys for me. I was wondering about SNAFU but after re-looking at the box art, it is simple but very bold graphically - would make a nice shirt so thumbs up to your initial choices.

Please do another run of B-17 Bomber but add-in the other Intellivioice games minus Solar Sailor.   Would look good on tan shirts.

Armor Battle

Auto Racing

Triple Action

Space Battle

to name a few.  LOL

Either large or small will do.

Oh, forgot to say how much I’d love to see these shirts. I’d be down for at least a few.
