That's some deep stuff there. 😂

Nah. That's just math.

Deep would be... If my body is out of phase and can walk through walls, what stops me from falling through the floor? Stargate SG1 question asked to the script writers.

Earlier on, Tommy was talking about how both Sony and Microsoft forbid explicit content on their platforms. Now, I know that Sony cracked down on this, but I haven't seen any info that would suggest that Microsoft did too. In fact, this reminds me of a Devil May Cry "controversy", where a scene with nudity got edited on PS4, but not the Xbox One or PC.

(This is off-topic, I know. Apologies!)

Not me, I find people, who bitch about woman nursing in public, absolutely absurd.  But none of this has to do with Burger's.

I don't feel it's off topic considering what we've been discussing.

Here's a link to the full WSJ article I mentioned earlier.  It's mostly about Sony and mentions that XBOX declined to respond.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/sony-cracks-down-on-sexually-explicit-content-in-games-11555427944

But Microsoft is known for following suit on similar type of stuff.

Here's one example:
https://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/168102/Sony_Microsoft_remove_sex_offenders_from_online_games_ACLU_questions_effectiveness.php

But yes... I would say that Sony definitely leads the pack for responsibility so far.

I can't talk about this until June.

But don't worry.... we've taken care of the problem.  And it's HUGE!!  People FREAK OUT when they see what we've come up with and how we're doing it.  Patents still pending.  All I can say at this moment.

:)

That being said... we've found that something pushing a touch screen to shoot is actually MORE responsive than a normal button!  Because there is no delay at all... so you can fire off a lot of bullets (and in whatever direction you choose!).

It's just something you need to experience first hand.  But the great news is that you'll have options for most every game.  But just know... that in a lot of cases... folks are using the screen to shoot on the Amico controllers when they could also use the buttons.  The screen is just faster.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my question. I appreciate it and look forward to trying them for myself!

Yeah... especially for Baseball.  It was all just muscle memory!

Utopia is the one that I always needed the overlays for though.  Could never remember what all the buildings were.

How about the rest of you??  What original Intellivision games did you ALWAYS need the overlay for???

I always had an issue with Microsurgeon if I didn't use the overlay - selecting the different types of weapons against the viruses, tar deposits, etc.

I loved that game though - I thought it was way ahead of it's time.

Here's my two cents on this whole sexual content in games chat.... Companies basically have basically changed stances over the years.

Sony, especially in the Vita/PS3 era, got really into allowing games full of sexualized anime characters/touching minigames/etc. Now they've changed their position and are becoming increasingly restrictive on sexual content. With that said, Sony never explicitly allowed hardcore pornographic games on their platform. This is why the incredibly popular genre of visual novels in Japan typically come in two versions - 18+ on PC, and a version with 18+ content removed for consoles because of this long understood rule.

Microsoft has mostly always treaded a middle ground where a lot of sexualized content is okay with them. However they also do not allow hardcore pornographic content in games on their platform.

Nintendo is the weirdest since I'm sure we all remember how much they've fought against things so benign as RED BLOOD in the past. They started to become more open to "erotic" content in the DS/3DS era, and are certainly more accepting of it now on the Switch. However, despite what Nintendo has said about allowing basically whatever, I really don't think they are happy about hardcore porn either on their platform. For the most part, I think it's indie developers pushing the envelope and seeing what they can get away with on the Switch. There are all kinds of trashy games on the Switch digital library - so much so that I feel Nintendo is not really reviewing them all (which is how stuff gets on the platform and then later needs to be removed/censored once they find out).

Most games released on censored form on Switch, however, do come out in an uncensored version on PC. This sometimes leads to people posting articles suggesting 18+ content is on a Switch release when it's actually not the case. At this point I don't believe there is a way to issue patches to restore cut content on the Switch (but I'm not big into the Switch mod scene so maybe there is?).

But at the end of the day.... Amico is a family friendly platform with games rated E and E10+ exclusively. So Intellivision Amico users won't ever have to worry about stumbling upon porn games :P. It's a very clear stance toward family-friendly gaming and I appreciate the transparency. Other console manufacturers do not have one set stance that can be clearly applied across their systems and libraries.

From the discussion thread I just thought of this. With the games being super affordable. How many would you need to sell to get development money back?

Yeah... I agree.  Loved that game on so many different levels.

Wish I could show you some of the screen shots for the new one.  Looks super duper cool!

Whoa - there's a new Microsurgeon coming?! I knew this was the right system to focus on!

To try and get the topic back on track, Tommy is there any plan to allow other bluetooth devices to connect to the system?

My thought is using a bluetooth keyboard to allow typing teaching or spelling or homework programs

If you keep adding things, Amico might turned into Atari VCS.

@Tommy Tallarico, I don't know about the rest of the world, but 3 on 3 hockey has become popular in Canada, especially as a spring league after regular league play is done.

1 goalie a side and 3 players. Sounds perfect for an 8 controller or 6 controller (with computer controlled goalies)

Has this mode been considered for the Amico Hockey game?

Also, are the controllers location-aware of each other (namely could you wave your controller at another player's controller to pass the puck or exchange dice?)

Yep!!  That exact set-up is exactly what the original Intellivision Hockey was as well!  And we're not changing it.

3 on 3 it is!  And yes... perfect for 8 players or any combination thereof.

Yep!  Lots of bluetooth and/or wifi and/or USB connectivity options.

I think it's time we admit that nowadays many products that used to be for children are instead aimed to 30-40 year olds: comic books, Pixar movies, Mario and Zelda games... Just an impression.

Those 30-40 year olds are no other than the children who enjoyed said products 20-30 years ago.

Is there a problem if you are over 40?

Is there any plans for a pinball game for the Amico? I would love to have both a video game style pinball and also a collection based on real pinball tables.

I wanted to tell you a story that happened on Founders day. I was at my job when it was time for getting the preorder for the founders edition. I told my workmate before hand that I wanted to pre-order the unit and informed him that I would jump on my phone when it was time. He is 24 and hasn't played an original Intellivision before and asked some questions about it. I got in on preordering it about three minutes after getting the email. After our class I told him that I got a preorder for the Amico and he then brought up the Night Stalker video and watched it from beginning to end. He turned to me after and simply said, "I think I might have to sell my Switch for one of these."
