The motion controlled has to be cornhole, Kool Aid man would be neat!

Wii already had a motion controlled Kool-Aid Man game.

It was called playing Wii Sports without the wrist strap on, thus crashing the Wii remote through their tv. Except instead of screaming "Oh Yeah!" people yelled "Oh Sh--!"

Tommy, you know better than I do, but can it be a little risky to wait for prices to drop for machine parts ?

Because of the virus, could it be possible for prices to rise rather than fall ?

Thank you.

No.  Component prices shouldn't rise.

My favorite part is when Mr. Contri declares with such smug confidence that we're only going to sell 5,000 units.  Hmm... I guess we're doing pretty well so far as we're more than halfway there and it only took about 5 hours with zero advertising and marketing dollars.

Will enjoy proving folks like this wrong.

It just amazes me that people can have such a strong opinion without ever having played the machine... and in their case... not even understanding what it is.

Hey Tommy I’ve been watching all the interviews you’ve been doing for the amico and was wondering, if you’re not too busy, if you would want to do an interview?

Sure.

I'm always busy... but will make some time.  :)

Feel free to PM me some details.

Thanks!

Wii Sports tennis was ruthless.

I almost decapitated my buddies big toe. I hit his foot so hard with the wiimote that the battery compartment door ripped off and the batteries went flying.

We were all crying we were laughing so hard. I think the Samuel Adams helped numb the pain.

Hey man, I couldn't agree more. I've been watching the Amico since I first heard about it, and believe me, I was one of the ones who preordered the Founder's Edition within the first 5 minutes.

A friend came over last weekend to drink a few beers. We went to play a multiplayer racing game, but there's nothing. Nothing modern anyhow that's split screen multiplayer. We ended up playing games from the Xbox 360 library (thankfully the Xbox One plays some 360 games). Burnout Revenge and Hydro Thunder Hurricane. I'm not sure how old Hydro Thunder is, but Burnout Revenge is 15 years old! We had to go back 15 years to sit down, drink some beers and have a good time playing a video game in the same room together.

I like that at around 24 minutes in Tommy shows off a Tandyvision One and declares it the best vintage Intellivsion console.

Growing up one of the neighbour kids had a Tandyvision, and I always loved the woodgrain look to it as well. I was ecstatic that just a few weeks ago I finally found one for a really reasonable price. I know it is just a different shell to make it a Radio Shack model but damn it looks nice! :D

The FE Amico and it are going to match wonderfully.

You and Tommy are not wrong. The Tandy is hands down the sexiest of all the versions of the Inty. That is not a fact to even be debated. Now, finding one in a really nice box....very hard to do.

1.  A motion controlled game.

Games are trying to evolve to become large, narrative driven movie like "immersive" experiences for a single person. That's why VR was being pushed so hard. The most solitary gaming experience there is. Beyond a single player game on a TV, or a game on you phone, you're literally in a pair of goggles with all sights and sounds dictated by the headset.

Ironically, there are VR games... Where you sit on a couch with a friend... And play a video game on a TV. Or watch a movie together. 🤡

Except you're both in VR.

I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as it's not the ONLY experience available. But more and more games are just single player 3D over the shoulder or first person story driven games.

Dude, these are two of the funniest posts in this entire thread and they appear on the same page!  Where have you been all this time, especially when we were stuck discussing those two YouTube dolts?!  Thanks for the laugh.  I almost spit my breakfast at my computer screen! 😆

Agreed!

This is why I find it so perplexing that certain folks are interested in constantly trying to tear us down.  What the hell is wrong with having OPTIONS??

Amazing to me.

I've had that shirt for years now. But thought it was time for it to part ways and came up with a creative way to do it.

Honestly - that shirt deserved that send off. Pat and Ian have become nearly insufferable.

They were once fun to listen to and had interesting opinions and takes on video game related events and news... Now they've become hugely arrogant, self-absorbed, and totally convinced of their own superiority in the gaming space. If you even try to make a counter point or bring up something, or even mention that they aren't open to the idea that things could be different, they ignore you or lash out.

The way they act and talk with such dripping venom and sarcasm towards literally anything they judge extends way beyond just the way they treated Tommy and the Amico. They seem like pretty sad individuals now with nothing of interest to say on their own, so they sit around commentating on news articles. I particularly like how Pat keeps mentioning his book out of nowhere.

I've read a lot of that book - some of his write ups on the games are laughable. Very clearly padded out those books.

I have a question for Tommy that can generate a healthy debate. I'm sure he will reveal reasons about the decision taken that are unknown to us at this point.

I have just realized that 4 of the 5 titles included with the system for free are reimagined classics. While the fifth one, based in motion controls and probably in cornhole, is really appealing for casual and non gamers, I wonder if these reimagined classics, which look awesome, will very likely play wonderfully and will benefit hugely from the Karma Engine, are really the best experiences to open this untapped market of unexperienced players.

So Tommy, what do you think about this? Snafu, Astrosmash, the mysterious game that's probably Shark! Shark! or Burger Time and especially skiing will be great games, but... Shouldn't the system include some board and card games instead for the reasons I mentioned above? 🧐🎲🃏

By the way: As much as I like (organic) burgers, I don't understand the love for Burger Time. Perhaps it's because I've never been a great fan of Pacman either, but... well, I hope the mysterious fourth reimagined classic to be included with the console is Shark! Shark! or some other game. The Intellivision game library provides a great choice. 😇

Thanks for the question.

The thing that I wanted to make certain with the pack-in games was to ensure value.  I wanted the 5 pack-in games to feel super premium and the customer to feel like they got $50 worth of free games.

I just didn't think a card or dice game would be as valuable as the others.  Card & dice games will probably fall into the $4 - $6 range.  Something like a Skiing or Astrosmash, motion controlled recreational sports game with over 100 different levels, etc. will come across (I believe) as having more value.

Also... we took a look at every demographic to make sure that everyone (no matter what your age or gender) has something for the entire family.

Hope this helps to answer the question.

Thanks!

Thanks, Tommy! I knew there was some key reason hidden to us.

However, I am still a bit worried that these 4 games can be perceived as too difficult by casual and non gamers... I hope this is not the case or, even if it happens, they end up buying the system because they love the cornhole game, Back Talk and other casual games.

Once they have the Amico, I guess these people can always look for other games in the e-store and ignore these 4 initial titles if, as I fear, reimagined classics are not their thing. 🤞

Tommy - on the Spy vs Spy "fighting game" idea, I didn't realize Spy vs Spy had a PS2 release. Looks like it also had multiplayer with up to 4 players.

Seems like a great little 3D party/fighting game to learn from for a potential Spy vs Spy fighter on Amico.

Could gather up all the negative reviews and then do the opposite on the Amico reimagined version!

Not sure if this is out of the realm of what you were thinking... could also be too "3D world" for the Amico's ideas. But yeah, some kind of 3D Battle Arena with items and fighting moves would be really cool.

I could see a 2.5D working well for that. Think Night Stalker but with gadgets/traps/hilarity.
