Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

I know this is a selfish request but I want someone to interview Tommy for an hour and have it only be about Amico. Tommy has a wonderful life story and it is interesting to hear about his live shows and how he became President/CEO of Intellivision but I kind of want more Amico information. Of course if the topic veered off into talking about John Alvarado then I'd be ok with that too. 🙂

There's TONS of those out there.  If you put in "Intellivision Amico" in YouTube then sort by "DURATION" you'll get a ton!

Tommy,

How about a snow mobile racing game for Amico?  Also, not sure if you already talked about this, are the first physical Amico games coming at launch or a few months after?

Yes.  We have a snow mobile game on the drawing board.  Yes... physical media on launch.

YES!  I guess I should have emphasized that it should be for local leader boards only.  I don't care if someone 1000 miles away plays like Billy Mitchell that I have no chance of ever beating.

You mean because of cheating?

It's part of our plan for sure.  Not sure if we'll have time to implement it on launch... but it's part of the plan for sure.  If not on launch... by early 2021 probably.

But there will be regular local leaderboards at launch right ? On games like moon patrol etc that are based on high score ? And separate leaderboards for each mode and difficulty level ? I know I ask a lot but I know you guys will do it right !  I need to enter my initials and be #1 ! Lol

Tommy,

Will there be tax on digital games for Amico?

Yes.  Or else we would go to jail.  :)

What other payment methods will be accepted for digital games on Amico besides the RFID card?

EVERYTHING that is normal.

15 hours ago, Atari_Master said:

Will RFID cards be sold at retail and will there be different increments as well?

Yep!

So you plan to lighten the restrictions on meeting an E or E10+ rating for certain games? Or will you alter the content accordingly like some people here suggested?

Can't say at this point.  Just ideas right now.

We were taking about this yesterday and i am 99% sure that it’s because he just doesn’t care about high scores of random people and I feel the same way. There is no fun factor in beating people‘s high scores that you don’t even know. But beating  your family or friends high scores ? Now that’s fun !!

2 of my favorite bands from that era!  Don't forget Van Halen & Styx!

:)

yeh also a fan of both Van Halen and Styx.  I hope to see the current lineup of Styx and the separate Dennis DeYoung performing Styx one day.

btw, Dennis's new album just hit on Sunday.  His new tune is out.  Nice to have a new album out and he is in his 70s.  His voice has not changed a lick.  One of those you know it is him voices like Steve Perry.

Yikes!  More stuff getting canceled every day.  I hate to say it... but it's probably not looking very good for E3.   :(

Still keeping my fingers crossed though and standing by to initiate plan B if needed.

Plan B = Tommy smiling as he hands the microphone over to John Alvarado.

Yo!,

I made the mistake of venturing over to the Amico thread on Reddit late last night and something caught my eye that was a bit disappointing.

Here is the comment...

tommy has changed a lot of his answers in the atariage thread. i am on his side but its hard to defend him when he is now saying he may not even have 10 units for E3. if he cant even get 10 units by e3 how is he going to get thousands and thousands by september for an october launch? i dont think hes as trustworthy about this as he lets on anymore.

A few things...

1.  I wish if this person had a question or issue he would just take it up with me publicly in here.  I would have no problem addressing his question or concern.  But to basically call me a liar... is going too far.  Especially when the question was never posed to me in here.

2.  Yes... I change answers in here because everyone is seeing, hearing, reading all of this stuff in real time as its happening.  Most people understand and appreciate this.  I'm just surprised the concept of things changing isn't clearly understood by some people.  But to basically call me a liar because of it?  Really?!?  I'm ALWAYS open and honest ALL the time.  I guess... to a fault.  Every sentence and word I say shouldn't be held to some kind of perfect standard that is never going to change.  All of this is happening in real time and plans constantly change.  Companies NEVER do this... for exactly this reason.  Yet I continue to do it anyway... knowing that stuff will be used against me in the future.  Sad.  Yes... at one point I was hoping to have 50 or so machines on the floor of E3. Then Corona hit.  But if we get 10 - 20 in a featured position with BIG TIME TV coverage... I'm happy with that.  As if I could predict the Coronavirus?  But whether it's 10 or 50 (or NONE if it gets canceled) the machines at E3 wouldn't be the ones that come off the assembly line anyway.  They would be DEV KIT versions.  So the phrase "he can't even get 10 units by E3 how is he going to get thousands by Sept/Oct" is 2 COMPLETELY different things.

Anyway... I just wanted to point out how disappointing it is to read stuff like this when I've always been so honest and upfront about every little thing.  For folks to now somehow use it against me is going a little too far IMO.

Last comment about Reddit.  I have never read so many ridiculous, uneducated and just plain STUPID remarks than from the user: paprium_fiasco.  This guy really takes the cake!  Literally EVERY comment I've ever read from this guy is almost completely the opposite.  And you guys thought that Tony guy was off?  Nah... this papsmear dude is on a whole different level.  Another self proclaimed "genius" who pretends to know everything... yet knows nothing and doesn't have the balls to come here and confront me in a manner fitting of an adult.

People need to understand that we're not going to pull the trigger on a $10 Million marketing/advertising budget if we will only be able to produce 100,000 machines.  Why?  Because we could sell that many on our own with very little marketing.  This is business 101.

I saw Dennis DeYoung twice and Styx once in their current lineups and enjoyed both but Dennis DeYoung played much smaller venues in my area and it was just amazing.

That guy has been on the Amico subreddit for a while. He did defend you from Tony, I think he just gets easily frustrated and panics quickly.

His thread prompted me to make this thread:

The Paprium guy is a lost cause. It's hard to know who he is or what his agenda is.

I won’t bother you anymore about local high scores but just to reconfirm , you will have separate high scores for all of the different skill levels ? I know I asked but you are reading so many responses, you might have missed that point.  When high scores are implemented which is rare, they often  have only one  leaderboard for all skill levels and modes  which makes no sense. Examples are if there is easy , hard , multiplayer etc there should be a separate leaderboard for each.  Ok I’ll be quiet now ! Lol . I have just missed having properly done local leaderboards for so long. I can’t remember the game , but there was a game that had high scores and they lumped easy and hard skill level in one leaderboard !!! Pissed me off !! Lol

Cumberland Farms!  Now that's some east coast shit right there!  Do they still exist???  Anyone here from the east coast remember Dairy Mart?  They were the big competitor of Cumberland Farms back in the day.

We still have Cumberland Farms, across New England, the Hudson Valley, a handful of super convenience marts on Long Island, and every 4.8 miles along Rte 1/I-95 in Florida (I guess by law, to lure the shrewd New England retiree who isn't having any of your timeshare scheme).

Dairy Mart left the Northeast in the 90s.  Still have some of them in Ohio and Louisville, KY.  Not like you remember though.

I hung out with Tommy Shaw and his wife one night in Vegas about 10 years ago.  We talked for hours.  He was impressed I knew his solo album stuff (which I love!)  He's as tall as me!

I can't really go into detail at this moment because of some pending stuff.  But I'm pretty sure you're gonna be happy.  :)

Is “tall” the correct word in this situation? (Says the 5’9” guy) 😂

yeh, the crew around Dennis's band is awesome!  August is a fabulous guitar player and also sings great too so he and Dennis make the band super.  I am a Tommy Shaw fan too but if I had to choose one lineup... I would go with Dennis.  I am amazed how good his voice has held up.  Super!

This is not his new song that dropped Sunday but one he did in 2019 and I feel is a stellar song, very Styx here and if his album is anything like this, watch out!
