He doesn't show up at all on DuckDuckGo. At least not the one at Intellivision. Lots of other dudes with the same name, though.

That screenshot result was from DuckDuckGo.

To whoever mentioned the controllers, I have a Switch and had to buy another set of Joycons. Our family is small, just three of us but now my kid is 6 and has shown interest in things like Mario Kart we ended up buying another set. It adds up over time. I remember my parents dreading buying more controllers for Nintendo and then we had to take turns because you could only play 2 player.

I finally got to watch the video that was released yesterday. In the same vein as Mario Kart, I was happy to hear that some of the games would adjust difficulty. This was one of the reasons we got a Switch. Will most games have this ability?

Another thought I had as I watched the Astrosmash video (again, for like the 100th time 😂) -- will there be an option to play your own music in any of the games? I am thinking like how Excite Truck had the option of using an SD card to play music. Don't get me wrong, I love video game music but sometimes I just want to zone out and listen to my own music library while I play.

Regarding getting someone famous for promotional purposes, lots of mentions of 80's movie stars or movie references, but isn't the target market people in their 30's?  I'm 48, I was only 7 or 8 when the Intellivision was introduced.  I'd go for 80s references, but do people in their 30's with single-digit aged kids?  Maybe a Seth Rogen age (38) person who appeals to a wide range of demographics would be more in line with the overall marketing strategy.

If possible, it would be super cool if somehow Stranger Things could be involved. Eggo waffles have had a renaissance due to that show and so have other nostalgic brands and items.

(This is an actual patent they just registered, some kind of robot to keep solitary players company. It kind of reminds me of this other recent patent by the company that shall not be named.)

Holy hell that's frightening looking.

Since when do folks play games with Cookie Puss

...or more importantly....

slippers!

This is a good question.  I'm 47 and my son is 21 today lol he is obsessed with the 80s all because of stranger things and other movies. Pixels ready player 1 because of all the references. He loves Back to the future, Tron. His absolute favorite console is the Nes. So I think you would be surprised what generation z likes. Oh my sons favorite band RATT lol.

Very thoughtful way you handled this person.  However it has come to light he is a dire Wolf in wolf clothing.

I fear another innuendo, double entendre named game coming to Amico.

Hey @Relicgamer, your last message before the TonyTGD one is repeated. 🧐

But I think it's cool and extremely interesting that your 21 yo son loves the 80s and 90s rap metal. Here's an advice: show him some 1989-1994 MSDOS games (Lucasarts, Sierra, id Software, 3D Realms...).

I want to believe young people turn retro because they actually prefer 1980-2000 creations. I mean, we didn't like the 60s so much when I was a kid. We were lucky to live those times as children/teenagers. 🤘

Good video.  They were fair and I understand and appreciate their concerns.  I left a comment to address a few of them.

Hilarious to see the same 2 dopes in the comments spouting about how "Nintendo already does this!" or how Splatoon 2, Overcooked, Animal Crossing & Stardew Valley are "casual" games!

And they proclaim that I'm the one who doesn't have a clue?  :)

Also funny that they don't understand what a $150 million line of credit for pipeline manufacturing even means.  I'm guessing both these stalking commenters are immature young kids... just by the way they write and present themselves... and they are definitely die-hard Nintendo fanboys.  That's cool.  I just always find it interesting that the points they bring up that they "think" the Switch is doing... is exactly why Amico is going to be a success... because the Switch doesn't do what they are claiming (not for a hyper-casual or non-gaming audience it doesn't).  What a hardcore gamer "thinks" is casual is something COMPLETELY different than what a non-gamer or actual casual gamer wants and/or consumes on a daily basis.  That's the disconnect with these folks.  Zero ability to think outside of their own skins.  I would recommend them NOT per suing a career in marketing.  :)

I....I don't even know what to say.  RATT?  Cool!  I had no idea-no kids for me.  I do know that 13 year olds LOVE our green 1980 Corvette in a way that people over 30-35 do not.  They have no negative association with it (divorce dad syndrome, anyone?) that car that looks like nothing else they have ever seen.

There are famous folks who definitely appeal to BOTH ages AND to both sexes.   We are talking to a handful of them already.

I am not sure I would call Animal Crossing a casual game either. There are some aspects that are, but there are also things that are absolutely infuriating about that game.

BTW, I have been adding up the pre-ordered consoles and multiple merch orders (this is #3) - damn this shilling is expensive business

well technically that wouldn't be shilling anyway since you're the one that's paying intellivision in order to advertise for them. a parallel example would be a whore offering to pay you for her services. 🧐

I know but I wanted to see how he would handle himself.  He actually was not a jerk. But what I found is in his videos 2x more people gave him a thumbs down lol not a good way to start as a content creator

I'm sure you have it well sorted already.  I have to constantly remind myself how old I am, and things that appeal to me may not have a large market.  But when it comes back around, and people you never thought would be interested come into the fold, it confuses the crap out of me.  Tube radios and amplifiers were totally gone for a long, long time.  Now?  BOOM!  So bizarre.

Oh sorry, but *EVERYONE* who owns any Intellivision merch, even if they paid for it themselves, are shills - just ask some YouTubers.

It depends on the game and the style.  Games like Moon Patrol won't (because we have a great versus and co-op mode that won't need it) or Missile Command... but things like Cornhole, Skiing (in Ski Cross), Shark! Shark!, PONG, etc. will.  I'd say there are more games that have it... then don't.  And even within some of the games that have it (like PONG for example) it can be turned off.

As a video game composer I was never a fan of allowing folks to do that.  Hahahhaa!  ;)

That being said... we have a super cool retro style interactive music shooter style game that WILL allow you to do this!

If I could Tommy.. I like the new "promo" video.  It was well thought out and engineered to a smart and sensible crowd.  All too often these Gaming things really don't hit target audiences well, as most buyers don't give a crap about what the console is about.. they want one or two specific games, and only buy the console upgrade because the graphics are upgraded, new game version.. etc.

You both did a great job of giving specific reasons about the whys, the do's and the yes's in a very positive way.  Talking about a product you are producing is easy, you obviously have a knack for it, and do well in front of the camera... but I liked seeing her perspective as well.  Great stuff.

I will say though... the backgrounds of both your choices of venues... was... well ... for lack of better words... distracting.  I only say this because at times I was looking around her museum of Egyptian artifacts in awe.. and although I'm not much of a Spiderman fan, I found a lot of cool things to look at, and lost my focus.

Keep up the great work.  Really looking forward to the release of this... especially with all the crap we're all going through lately.  It was good to see such positives waves coming from both of you.

No negative waves man...
