Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

It's like having a conversation with a brick wall.

His lack of being able to judge something outside his own head is exactly why he'll never be a "real" journalist like he imagines.

Oh... that and the fact that he doesn't even own a Switch or a Wii... yet LOVES to always bring them up as a comparison to Amico.

:D

He's stuck with opinion blogging and making nasty YouTube videos that his 15 negative and hate filled followers watch.

Me & Amico consumes his online existence.  We are so interesting to him.  He can't ignore us.  We must be doing something right.

:)

Discussions with a brick wall are less frustrating; ... and more rewarding.

You may be correct as I looked and cannot find what I paid, if anything, and its been years since I've played it, so looks like I was wrong on that, so thanks for correcting that.  Assumed/thought it was something I actually initially paid for.  (see what I did there Pat and Ian, it really is that simple).

l am not one who generally thinks I should be entitled to get something for free, they obviously put much effort into the game and they should be appropriately compensated, but for me (and apparently many others) the approach to buy ‘gold’ to temporarily buy down the timer is just plain frustrating.  Again I would much rather have a free trial period and then be required to pay a one time cost to purchase (rather then rent/subscribe) the game, should I feel it warrant the price. It was a great game but for me didnt warrant the frustration of the transaction system.  Maybe in the end its 6 of one and a half dozen of the other and i just need to learn to accept change; or not and just buy an Amico - yea thats a much better option for me.

Pigment is another example, you can only subscribe (last my wife looked) and from my memory, the yearly subscription rate was more than we thought the outright purchase should be, so we’re out on that one as well.

Cant wait until 10/10, solitaire is getting old.

I mainly mentioned it because I've worked at EA for nearly 20 years (shh, don't tell anyone here) and while we have earned much criticism over the years I feel the duty to point out when it isn't warranted.  🙂  Also, I was on a central team at the time and supported the Firemonkeys studio when they released RR3 - they are a good bunch of people.

At the time I decided to download it because I knew some of the people who worked on it, even though I wasn't a mobile gamer.  I remember the first time I hit the timer and I was confused.  I can still remember the instant I realised that this was what free-to-play looks like.  And I never went back to another free-to-play game.

We see it every day on the news and especially in political commentary.  It's just the way the world works in the 21st century.

yes. it's called the "hegelian dialectic." divide and conquer strategy. while the sheep are distracted through endless quarreling amidst themselves, those on top use such opportunities to amass more and more power and control.

Well... at least the author was honest when he said...

"So maybe the company is onto something I don't quite comprehend."

Yes.  That is clear.

And that's fine.  Not for him.

He said he has all 3 major consoles and a PC connected to his TV so I'm assuming he doesn't think he's the average person/consumer anyway.

I just find it once again interesting that there aren't many "journalists" out there that can just report on a simple news story anymore.  Just the facts.  It seems that everything needs to be an "Op Ed".  Everyone must always feel the need to inject their own personal opinions into the storyline.  Whether they are the target market or not.  We see it every day on the news and especially in political commentary.  It's just the way the world works in the 21st century.

Lucky for us... we don't really need the gaming press to succeed in our mission.

Some of the mainstream things we have waiting in the wings are really going to make the difference.

It's a shame but you are correct.  Not much straight up reporting left.  I partly blame 'us'-the people who consume information.  When I was a kid, to get tabloid news, you had to buy it in a physical store.  Everybody saw you standing in line at the grocery store with it, and, at least where I was from, people would try to hide it or maybe make an embarrassed comment.  It's not like you were buying Penthouse, but it was different than picking up the regular newspaper.  The newspaper had a basic journalistic standard, and anybody with half a brain knew the difference between the NY Post and the National Enquirer.

I still remember the day, several years ago, when my Yahoo! News feed changed...and all the tabloid crap was mixed in, even when I went to the 'news' section-not 'Stories'.  Now all media is tabloid based.  The garbage is mixed in.  Add facebook and youtube, where the content is totally unvetted, and here we are.  The fake journalists have devalued real journalism so much that it has to become tabloid just to compete for clicks and eyeballs.  Today there is no shame or embarrassment when you peddle or consume disinformation.  Everyone seems to be having fun rushing to the bottom of the barrel, but the prize is only chaos.

On a lighter (or maybe just sweeter!) note, I left Maine in 1990 and headed to Long Island NY to go to Hofstra.  My first experience with Carvel was on campus, we had one that you could use your MEAL PLAN and buy ice cream and stuff.  It was good.  Very good.  My diet was bad.  Very bad.

Thank you so much for posting this slightly negative article.  We all know your heart is in the right place.

For someone who is so into having "discussions" about Amico... you certainly keep dodging all my questions and discussions don't you?

You're such a phony.

But their love for Bacon and Taco's are for real !!!!!   The question  here is , even with people knowing who and what these few are up to /doing here and what there real intentions are . The obsession to post  negative undertones  and discredit what Tommy and IE are doing and have accomplished so far just keep coming.  Oh those people are playing co op games but not video games with each other  with us here , IE and Tommy . Grow up would you's ... Maybe order in some Taco's with Bacon so you can focus on that....

Probably not for much longer.  We tried to roll out the red carpet for them with the "independent" thread, and they blew their chance.  We don't need them here any longer if they're only going to persist in bringing more of the same negativity.

I’m not entirely sure what I just watched but I enjoyed it.  Although the prospective at times led to my brain strange places.

My brain during this video I don’t like rap turn it off, but I enjoy black and white video just turn it down a bit it will be ok.  That’s an odd dance to the beat but the outfits are adorable. That is one huge door does a giant live there? Are the dancers going to be sacrificed?  Those are some really cute shoes, oh no the giants door is back the sacrifices are about to begin, oh good it ended and everyone survived

Tony TDG is a narcissistic sociopath! People like that will never change. He is no journalist!

Unfortunately, there are many currently in this profession (not validating that he is a journalist) that the same could be said about. Its really sad these days with fake news now being disseminated by what appear to be ligament sources.

What would Walt say

I am not sure I would call Animal Crossing a casual game either. There are some aspects that are, but there are also things that are absolutely infuriating about that game.

Sure, Animal Crossing is casual.

The Grand Canyon's just a ditch.

Yup, seems like the proportion's correct!

I didn't quite get the same impression from that closing line.. I think I didn't read it with as much scrutiny, but it read, to me, like it was more establishing that he wasn't trying to sell you on the product, go a roundabout way to establish himself as an uninterested observer.  Not sure it was delivered as such, but that's the takeaway I left the article with.

Sure, elitist.  I wouldn't think a gaming journalist would be out of line to have a ton of experience with PC gaming and with the consoles that are out, so, I get it.  Maybe he thought it was adding some legitimacy (minus his insert that *he's* not interested, would he think we presume he's shilling the investment opportunity?).

All the problems you find with games journalism not just being able to relay the news just goes into why this is problematic, but I guess my suggestion is the guy may not have meant it to be as dismissive.  I try to give the benefit of the doubt unless someone's burning through second-and-third-chances like they're going out of style.  Twitter isn't the only medium where intent is sometimes lost.

Part II

We are talking about a stream that will replace E3, so no advertising.

What I want is to have moments of suspense between each revelation, and in an original way.

In my 1st example, I said that we could see Cara's family playing 4 players.

It could be Shark! Shark! (for us it would not be new, but for several others yes). But it could also be Burger Time or Frogger !

Then the German developers will introduced us to the new Ski-Cross Gameplay for the skiing game. (They are playing instead of working on a new game ! lol )

Here is an example for a 3rd unveiling.

The host (Victor Lucas ?) informs us that earlier this week, IE made a surprise at Tommy's House and that we are going to see the little video that was shot.

We are in Tommy's living room, and we see him playing with his father with the original baseball game from Intellivision.

Tommy asks his father if he remembers the last time he tried to play a newer game of baseball (We can see that or not !).

In the discussion we understand that the controls were far too complex, even that he had failed to turn on the console ! lol

It is at this precise moment that John Alvarado communicates with Tommy and says to him :

"Tommy, we're finally done. Now you can try it with your father!"

Here we are, now we see Tommy and his father playing the new Baseball game on Amico and having simple fun ... etc. etc. 😃

Also, in another segment, we could have a making of, like Tommy recording sounds for Corn Hole, dice sounds for Farkle, and another revelation.  etc.

Thank you.

Or, the US skim team playing the game, some NHL players playing Hockey, etc...  that may drive some buzz, and with some sports (NBA, for example) that could really motivate some folks...

That being said... I can't see grandma or non-gaming mom picking up Borderlands and Gears 5 anytime soon.  So we're still S.A.F.E.

:)

..or any hardcore gamer dad/mom who wants to play with their <9 years old kid/kids.

In other rooms we might see information about the Moon Patrol sequel.

You know, I get that most peeps on here want that Moon Patrol sequel before they even play the first game, but I need to see R-Type, Centipede and Kid Niki (Suggested way back on page 100-something) before yous guys get 'Moon Patrol and the Temple of Doom'.🙄

The games have not officially been announced and most are aimed for casuals and non gamers, but the guy is 100% sure that the Amico "will not have a killer game like Halo". 😐

Their readers buy and enjoy modern super hero comic books, so they will probably like the article too. 👍
