The last HoJo's I was aware of was College SQ in Worcester, that closed in the 90's  I haven't seen the ice cream for 30 years :( I think HoJo's may have even been selling Hersey Ice Cream at the end.

I know you are a car guy...  But if I say Riverside... What do you think?     I still call Six Flags, Riverside...  Oh,  they had a track back in the day!  So, I can say, I have been to Riverside Speedway!  LOL

I work in IT and everyone is younger than me...  Non of them ever heard of riverside park. So sad...

I think they had the first loop coaster?   I did not fact check that....

There is a final HoJo’s on the New York Northway (I-87 between Albany and Plattsburgh/Montreal) just outside of Lake George.

Food and service are hit and miss, but an ind. operated last stand for the roadside family restaurant.

I'd include this in a minigame title called "Amico Pub Games", along with air hockey, foosball, darts an a few others.

I get it... the Ouya failed.  It was taking mobile games and trying to play them on your TV.  We have never stated that this is what we're doing (in fact the exact opposite) and how many couch co-op games are there on mobile?  How many with tactile feedback?  How many with ZERO microtransactions, Loot Boxes, in-app advertisements, annoying pop-up's after the game is shut off?

You only forgot to mention that you also know what the hell you are doing - the fatal flaw with the Ouya. Most people here are from the game play shown because you know the Amico is just a entertainment center ornament without the games. The Ouya motto was that they will build the box and then, hopefully, the developers and then after that the people will come. Intellivision is building the games and using that to bring in the people. Also almost no differentiation between the Ouya and any other console/set top box. Their goal was to be very open to indie developers, but lowering the barrier also means you get tons of crapware & the good games get buried. The Amico is a console with a point of view, curated software, targeting an undeserved market and is being built by an experienced team - the differences are staggering.

oh wow, yeh not easy, but you sound like you did what you could.  There are some strong souls in the world that I know that take in sickly dogs from pounds that are at the end of their days, but these kind people take them in anyway to give the pooch or cat a nice lasting more comfy and loving way to leave this world.  So great of them.  Same goes for adoptions... it may be hard on us to let them go BUT... imagine if you will that pet has a loving home until he/she can move onto a new family that he/she will take care of.  I often see pets take care of us and not the other way around.  They love non conditionally and are some of the best animals on the planet... much better than many humans.

So don't talk yourself out of it as it may be your calling.

TJ

Dont worry I been getting realky.bires and seeing pets up for foster... I'm seriously considering fostering 2 until.i go back to work.  I.live right by a dog park.

Ok... Thinking about Safecracker again. I got a suggestion.

What if the players break into Geraldo Rivera's house, search around, crack his safe & find the key to his vault in the basement? Once we get there, we find all of Al Capone's shit in it.

Hi,Tommy (to get back to our regularly scheduled programming), from your latest IE video, it could be taken that the design may now be 100% complete. Is that something you can confirm?  Thats a big milestone and should be screamed from roof tops (or at least be posted herein).

Also, did you ever get the chance to reach out to Big Head Games on Retro Cave Flier and if so, anything fertile come out of it?

Another thing society does not realize is news is a business and they love bad news. Their ratings are sky high now so they will continue with their polarizing opinions.

Wow,  the North-way... Don't know how I missed this?  I have driven that route hundreds of times on my way to Lake Placid...And Back!  LOL

If you are in the Albany area?  I saw Springsteen with the Seeger Sessions Band at SPAC- Saratoga Springs and a few other shows at the Pepsi Center? I think it's called in Albany.

It is only about 2 hours away.  So it is as easy to see a show in that area as Boston etc.

When we can "gather" again, we need an East Coast retro gaming expo!  I wanted to go to the Philly Classic, but never made it :(

-I don't mean a Nintendo Gathering...  I mean CLASSIC Gaming!  ;)

if it turns out to be a mobile gaming device you can plug into your TV, then the Amico will be a tremendous failure.

Again with this?  Yes, I agree.  It would be a tremendous failure.  But we're not doing that, have never said we are doing that and in fact make it clear that the mobile industry is WAY LACKING (i.e. we're doing the opposite of what they are).  I get it... the Ouya failed.

🥵

That article infuriates me. I mean lets be totally serious.  Is the game galaga a mobile game?  Hmmmm if it came out today thats probably what it would be pinned.  But yet arcade1up sell a cabinet with galaga/galaxian for around $300 and uet those seem to have zero problems selling.  Sure I get it it sell to people that want that arcade experience.  And thats different.  But people bashed them when they came out and now they are planted in tue market.

Amico will do great I have no doubt. Im looking at it more like the wii. The wiis graphics sucked even with component video cables. You could actually get better output with a gamecube.  I know thsts crazy but it was what audience they were targeting.  And no matter what the haters say the switch absolutely does not have that focus.  In no way are the people that bought the Wii to play bowling went to a switch.

The article lacks true insight on the industry.  Niche lol Yeah ok . Except the numbers say otherwise.

Ironically, I have the 4 Galaga game collection on my iPad. It came out about 2011.

Galaxian, Galaga, Gaplus & Galaga 88.

I do get the point though. It's always an arcade game no matter what device it's programmed to work on.

Galaga is one of my all time favorite games...  I cannot play this on a mobile device...  Actually, any "arcade" game for that matter.

The NDS is a "mobile" device, but it has actual buttons.... So, "I" don't think of this in the same way as an phone or iPad etc.

I am not saying I don't play games on my phone or iPad... Just not arcade type games.  Maybe I am just old and inflexible?

I bought a floor model at Walmart of the galaga arcade 1up and man its fun. Hold the highest score in my house my son tries but cany get on the board lol ha ha ha. Also have the tempest missile command, and street fighter cabinet. Im getting more in the future. We have a 500sf space we are building into a arcade family room. Going with the old goldmine arcade theme. But the Amico will be a centerpiece.

They make a bluetooth arcade stick for many iPad games. My version of Galaga series works with it.

Tommy, do you have any Hasbro licenses?

I think a game like CLUE would be a perfect game for the controllers capabilities.

Plus, they have several versions of this game and you could do a few of those.. Plus you have some Disney connection, I think they did Haunted Mansion and Tower Of Terror editions.

I really cannot wait for 10/10/2020.....

Yes, I have the iCade...  My wife got for me for Christmas several years ago.

I didn't use it to often.  I never had a vectrex back in the day,  and tried to use this as a way of recreating it...  I didn't work to well,  but I never check for updates.  May need to dig that out... Being home ALL THE TIME!

Thanks for reminding me!

Thank you for the LordRayken Rant.  Its nice to know others share the same level of frustration, but we need to remember that is their goal.  Best to just procedurally boot them and move on.

I agree.  I think the best response to their particular brand of crazy is to bury it with positivity and productive achievement.  At some point, it becomes counterproductive to continue to respond to people who can no longer participate in the thread, because it only allows them to influence the discussion even after they're gone.

(And for anyone new who is seeing these responses out of context and might get the wrong impression, let me clarify: critical points of view are welcome here and always have been, as long as they can be expressed politely and dispassionately, no matter how much you might have heard otherwise.  You'll find many examples throughout this thread.)

The Ouya comparisons actually really bother me. Because the people making them clearly have absolutely no idea what the Ouya was to begin with, and then have even less of an idea what the Amico is. It goes without saying; if they don't know what the Ouya was, they definitely aren't going to understand the Amico. Is this going to be the case for any and all future dedicated game hardware? Just constantly bringing up Ouya?

It's really really unfortunate that we're in a time where Ouya and Coleco Chameleon hog the spotlight when it comes to these people's mindsets. The Ouya has given a lot of regular people a ton of cannon fodder to use against the Amico. I can't count how many times I've seen "Ouya 2" or something in comments on Youtube or on "news" articles comments sections. And those that are in the know use the Coleco Chameleon as their starting point, like the two I'm not going to name. Instead of taking a step back and realizing this has absolutely nothing in common with either one of those, because it's "video games" and "failure" they just use those names casually and constantly. It's hard to understate how hard of a failure the Ouya was and how much of a botched kickstarter that was, and the Chameleon was a scam through and through, right down to totally fake hardware. Reviewtech outlined it really concisely and clearly and said it loud and clear. The only hope is that some people are actually listening and have unplugged ears.

I posted this here because I found all these great metal signs while working through my video game corner.

They were made for me by Brian,AKA Crazy Climber who bounced in and out of the intellivision world between 2014-2016.

He did great work and made these super intellivision signs, coaster sets etc. on his CNC metal cutting machine.

I love this stuff and a couple of them hang on my game room walls.

I took them down to share these pictures.

I figured this is at least as valuable to share here as the usual focus on what negative people say about the Amico.

Remain positive everyone and share fun stuff!😊👍

Hey,

@Tommy Tallarico I was just reminiscing about the gameplay reveal trailer and the microsecond glimpse we got of the plane game.  Any updates on that game. title, release window?

Or was it really just a tease for the unnamed sequel to Pitfall 2 in which Harry now gets to fly a plain on his way to loot dungeons with quickclaw and Rhonda :)

That was Bi-Planes (which appeared in the original Triple Action).  We wanted to split that out (along with the Armor Battle style game) to have their own games.

The same studio who is doing Moon Patrol for us is doing Bi-Planes as well!   The main focus of the team is finishing up Moon Patrol over the next few months... then we'll go full into Bi-Planes.
