Accidentally  was listed as rated e for everyone.   Accidents happen for sure..... but  amico if that happens you will just get an e10 plus rated gane by mistake and not an m rated.

Thanks for posting this. I didnt think this would happen again so quickly.

I laugh when inexperienced people do videos calling out Tommy for lying in regards to his comments about how Nintendo as  been allowing things to slip by namely mature content. Then in the same breath criticize him for not allowing it to be on the Amico.  Pathetic.  They need to wake up. You cant just allow your kids on a Nintendo anymore and trust the ratings through parental locks to keep them safe. Shame on Nintendo.

Am I the only one who is constantly checking the Amico app to see if there’s anything different besides the 20 second Moon Patrol demo?  🤣

Me too!

What this happened recently with a different game - how did I miss that? What game was it?

Someone is asking me what's the OS for Amico ?

Someone know it ?

It is a special Linux/Android hybrid that we've created internally.

Stability of Android and the flexibility of Linux.

Brain's Man Cave has an excellent interview going on with Activisions Dan Kitchen where he mentions doing an Amico game!

Dan is GREAT!!  Was cool to hear him talk about Amico.  (It's around the 55 minute mark or so for those interested).

I first met Dan about 20 years ago when he was at Majesco and we were working on games together.  As he mentioned... we talked in NYC at Toy Fair in February.

Great guy and definitely an industry legend!

Here is a video that talks about Eshop from The switch, and why some games are selling at $0.01 !

When they are in the best sellers page, they increase the price ...

Sorry for the Nintendo fans, Tommy has nothing to do with this, it's all my fault bringing this subject here ! lol ( And yes I have a switch and also a PS4 ).

Really curious to see how the shop will worked on Amico ! 😀

Yeah... I've mentioned that a few times here in the past.

It sucks that Indie developers need to find ways to game the system in order to try and get noticed.  Yet another way our system is set up differently and better for developers than others.

For the Amico, I think this shows that there is definitely a market for these types of games.

I hope folks didn't need a Japan sales chart to finally understand.

I just checked Amazon Japan's overall video game sales rankings to see how well the Game Gear Micro is doing, and it's kicking ass right now. The only 2 things in front of it are Doubutsu no Mori (which is what you probably know better as Animal Crossing) and that 51 games thing.

https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/bestsellers/videogames/ref=zg_bs_unv_vg_1_1025478_2

People in general across the internet were wondering how well this 51 games thing would sell, and it seems that its physical preorders are doing quite well in Nintendo's primary market. Release date is apparently today, so it will be interesting to see how long it stays near the top of the sales charts.

This may not look like this for long, so be sure to check it in the few seconds after I post it!

For the Amico, I think this shows that there is definitely a market for these types of games.

One of the things to notice on that list as well... everything except for Last of Us II seems to be what gamers would consider "casual".  Even the Ring Fit is on there.

Oh... and LOTS of extra controllers!!!

:D

I initially thought the Game Gear Micro was $250, but it looks like it's just the price some people are reselling the console for folks outside of Japan in Amazon.

If people are paying such an amount of money for that tiny thing, it shows you how great the value of the Amico is for its price compared to many other entertainment products.

There is a special bundle you can get that has all 4 colors, a pin collection and a magnifier.  I believe that one is around $250.

Tell me again hardcores how outrageous Amico pricing is.

They're the types to ignore statistics and data anyway, so...

Like you said, though, Nintendo knows their audience and they made this game. The only things they've ever done that failed that I can think of were the Virtual Boy, 64DD, and the Wii U. There are probably more things, but I can't think of any right now.

Now that you mention it, you're right. There are a lot of controllers on there. Meanwhile, in the USA, we have a bunch of prepaid cards for the most part.

The list was updated recently.  More will be added as time goes by.  Back Talk Party is shown in the list, I think this is the 6th pack in title that Tommy has hinted at.

Very cool.  A very well done page.  Sometimes rare for Wikipedia!  But whoever is working on it is doing a nice job.

Any folks from here?

Watching your interview yesterday you mentioned that you are going to sign and number each founder edition Amico. Can I have #1 of 2600?

Since Tommy is a robot, lol, he could have his very own game on Amico called Tommy the Robot.  Also, a while back I mentioned a game called Save Tommy like the Atari 2600 game Save Mary.  But with Save Tommy, you have to rescue him because he was captured by Atari.

All of the big 3 are there for a reason.  They are all great and amazing for different reasons.  They all deserve to be there and have earned their right to do so.

We haven't yet.  That is one of the reasons there is such skepticism from the hardcores... yet such love from the game industry itself.

Hardcores will expect us to earn our stripes and actually come out with a product instead of me just talking about it.  And that's totally understandable and we're up to the task!  The game industry itself loves the idea of something different and because they know a lot of the folks working on the system and the games... and they assume that it's going to be great because of that.  If for no other reason... than the experience and track record of the team we've put together.  The haters or skeptic hardcores seem to forget and overlook this big time.

Isn't it interesting that a great and important guy like Xbox president Phil Spencer will tweet positively about us without ever having played the machine... yet some YouTubers or message board commenters are so quick to tell us how stupid we are, how it's going to be a massive failure, no one is going to buy it, etc.

Who do you think knows more about the video game industry I wonder.

:)

But yeah... we gotta earn our stripes.  Which is why me & the team work so hard.  Because we care, we are passionate and want to earn the chance to sit at the table with the big boys.  And when we accomplish it... we may accomplish something that Google with all their money and infrastructure and Atari with all their legacy... were unable to.

Wouldn't That Be Something?

Yes!  There are a few I've been kicking around.  Don't want to say right now as a few of them are very personal choices.

I’ve done some work on it. I would have liked to add some photos, but they would need to be uploaded to the Wikimedia commons page by the rights holder, but then they become public domain and any Shlub could use it for anything.

I was going to say I want 666 as my Amico # but being born 6 month of 66 myself I have enough 666 there... haha... so do 999 for me.  I hear 999 over in europe is slang for Bootie Calls.  That works for me.  Just don't tell my "old lady".

Yeah, I always found it interesting that every comment made by someone who actually works in the industry that I have personally read is supportive of the system. Those types of people have access to the same market research and other information that you do, as well, so I'm sure they are aware of all of the potential customer base that you are targeting, as well. I'm not sure why nobody else thought to go after the Wii people that got left behind by the Wii U, though.

Still, if the data and market research suggest that there is a chance to make some good cash from such target customers (and apparently so, or we wouldn't be talking about this right now), there's no reason not to. First rule of business = provide value, and if there is an untapped market, you might as well provide value to them if nobody else is doing so. In a sense, you'd have... well, you can't really call it a "monopoly", but you'd control that entire sub-section of the customer base. I'm pretty tired right now so I can't exactly think as clearly as I'd like, but perhaps we'll continue later. Time to go to sleep, I think.

Interesting.  In the Navy, we use 999 as the code to say "WE NEED IT DELIVERED NOW!!!"  Which is also appropriate in this situation.

If you tell that to a German, there's a high chance that person will stop instead of hurry.
