Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

The cancel culture will never cease to amaze me. I'm refering to the handful of people (or is it the same person under different aliases?) continuously going out of their way to make videos and flooding YouTube with half-assed arguments for no other reason than to tell the world how they don't like Amico.

Is it to be recognized? Is it to fill the need to "belong" to something?

Is it because of the hourly rate it costs to consult a shrink?

Or is it because you'd like to hang out with the cool kids (aka: Amico All Access podcast 😁 ) that are having fun discussing about what they like and about every upcoming exciting new thing?

Dude, there are a million things you could find and discover to get you excited about and that could make you happy - you know, that feeling you might have forgotten about, the one that makes you smile uncontrollably. Go find it because life's too short, so when the day comes and you're in that nursing home you'll want to remember about those times when you had fun.

Respectfully,

Cheers.

Hi Folks!,

A lot to catch up on, but wanted to pop in real quick to bring your attention to a few "tough questions" I was challenged by on YouTube today.  I know we want to keep a positive vibe so I prefer never to post negative videos here.  But a set of 4 videos were trying to stump me with their so called "tough" questions.  The questions weren't tough at all.  When you have nothing to hide... then no need to hide anything.

Because of the negativity angle, there were a few questions that haven't been asked in here, so I wanted to share the answers with you all.  This is a Q&A thread after all.

I'm not going to post the links to the videos (they'll probably end up deleting my answers anyway) and if anyone finds the videos and comments on them... please try to keep it positive.

So-called "tough" questions.

Q:  What would it take for you to abandon your sunk costs and walk away from a failed project?
A:  Nothing at all. EVER. Sorry fellas. Hate to break your hearts.

Q:  You stated that you were going to have some big reveals at e3 2020, which was just a few months after the global pandemic started. You didn’t show much. Why is that?
A:  Because we are saving it for our own online press conference. Exactly the same as every game company has done. More info on ours (date & time) coming within the next week. Reason we've waited a little longer than others? Wanted to make sure that if we are forced to delay... that it would be a part of that conference as well.

Q:  What is the team working on? Software developers don’t need to be in the same room. The mobile app hasn’t been updated since January 2020.
A:  Our internal full time (w/benefits) team of 30+ hardware, firmware, mechanical, OS, Testing, backend, servers, UI/UX, and software engineers are working on the same things they have been working on for years. We also have marketing, PR, art department, audio, controller/accounting and customer service. A simple LinkedIn search will show you most of the folks and when they started. Very easy to verify. A few employees don't have LinkedIn, but you get the idea: https://www.linkedin.com/company/intellivisionentertainment/people/ In regards to our developers, there are literally hundreds of people working on games for us right now.

Q:  Did Intellivision Entertainment take any paycheck protection loans since it is operating as a small business? Or are they such a big deal, as Tommy often implies, that they don’t need anyone’s help?
A:  As with most pre-revenue start up companies affected by COVID we did receive one PPP assistance loan. Every small company applied. No reason not to. We qualified. Here is a published list of all the game studios that received them. You will see that we are at the very bottom tier of folks who received assistance. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2020-07-10-game-companies-lining-up-for-pandemic-relief-loans This is an explanation of what PPP is: https://www.investopedia.com/your-guide-to-the-paycheck-protection-program-ppp-and-how-to-apply-4802195

Q:  What do you feel that you, personally, can bring to this project? You're not an engineer, programmer, game designer, or project manager. What makes you think you can succeed where so many others have not?
A:  You're wrong about assuming any of those things about me. Please feel free to read my bio here: https://www.tallarico.com/bio
In regards to what makes me think I can succeed where so many others have not? It's called confidence. Because folks like you have told me my entire career that I "can't" do things. And at EVERY turn I have proven the "doubters" and "haters" wrong.  Again, read my bio... then ask yourself if you think I'll fail. If you still think yes... then I look forward to adding you to the list of folks I have been proving wrong my entire career. That's the great thing about always being the underdog... no one sees ya coming and when you pull it off... it's even that much more sweeter.

Q:  How far along are you with FCC testing for EMF radiation? Battery testing? Will you share parts of the process with the public so they have a better sense of how things are going?
A:  Halfway through testing. COVID has delayed. Known fact by everyone manufacturing hardware. Easy to Google.

Q:  How long do you really think it will take for shipping from China to the US? How long to clear customs?
A:  Takes 1 month from China to US shores. 3 days in customs. We can manufacture approximately 1,500 machines per day, shipment crates are 3,900. So approximately 2 1/2 days to create a shipment. Could potentially start manufacturing in early to mid August, but compliance testing is backed up. Decision to be made by the end of this month. Been saying this since March of this year. More news will come as we get it. Been transparent from the beginning. California once again shut down by the governor yesterday. Orange County specifically named. Things getting worse here... not better.

Q:  Can we disable the LED lights?
A:  Yes. You will be able to disable the LED Lights.

Q:  How much of your personal money have you put into this project?
A:  None of your business. Enough to matter. What difference would that make anyway?

Q:  What factors would go into your go/no go decision regarding product launch?
A:  Distributors, compliance testing, manufacturing windows and most of all... retailers.

I won't be answering any more of their so-called "tough" questions.  I gave them 10 shots... and answered them all with ease.  Of course from here on out, if I don't answer other questions then they will say I'm ignoring them and that I'm hiding something.  The ridiculousness never ends.     So just thought I'd answer everything they asked (across the videos they posted) and now I'm done with them.  If they have any more "questions" they are more than happy to come on in here and ask them in a respectful manner (if they haven't already been banned). I like to try and dedicate a hour or so each day to answering various questions around the internet so I picked this one today.  But as you can see, they are mostly asked in a negative, disrespectful or demeaning way... so no reason to give that very small group any kind of further attention.  They tried their hardest to "stump" me... and like always... failed.  They spent a lot more time making all those videos and graphics than I did answering the questions.  At what point do you start to question your life choices or be more productive with your time?  Prepare for 10 other videos over the next few days I'm sure.

Anyway... bottom line... I thought the answers were interesting so I wanted to share them here with everyone.  Normally I wouldn't have responded...  but thought that some of you would be interested in some of the answers.

Thanks!

I saw those videos and already commented on one before reading your post here. Sorry but when I see an Italian paesano attacked I step into action. It's not personal, it's strictly business.

Good answers by the way

It’s nice of you to answer these questions but in reality most of them are nobody’s business. Whoever is making these videos really has no life. I feel bad for them actually.

But you my friend TT keep fighting.   (haters , COVID etc) and you don’t get discouraged or dragged down by people who have nothing better to do than attack you for no reason. It can’t be easy on you mentally but you stay on course no matter what others say. That’s why I believe in your mission and I am so thankful to the while IE team ! Nothing can stop this from happening.

I want to highlight this part. I cant even imagine the shame you would have to endure if this was all for a scam. To go from having a clean successful well regarded career in this industry with the respect coming from industry leaders to just doing a scam.

You would have to be the biggest fool ever.  And for what? Just for money.  Nothing in your history suggests this. Also one thing these complete fools forget.  Your parents

Do you think your parents would be happy knowing this was all for a get rich scheme?  I'm pretty sure they wouldn't.

When this is all over it will be icing on the cake. And I'll be happy to have some too lol😂🤣😂🤣

Well said Relic. I don't know what it is that makes some people so negative and always looking to shoot other people down. It reflects on something lacking in their life that makes them so angry all the time and always have schadenfreude. You see it everywhere and it's way more prevalent on the internet where you can remain anonymous. Like Tommy said though, keep it positive, we all know this will be a success and we'll soon be enjoying the console and posting our reviews of games.

I just thought it was funny that their only hopes for Amico to fail is if I quit.  "Tommy... what will it take to make you quit???"  They are practically begging me to stop at this point.

Love it!!!

I mostly agree with the above.

The one catch is their behavior isn't cancel culture, which is something different.  At best, these folks are trolls.  At worst, they are malignant parasites who use negativity to boost their ratings because they are incapable of generating worthwhile content.

I refuse to fail... something the haters are going to find out the hard way.

Most haters do not understand the drive it takes to create and become a successful entrepreneur. People instilled with that drive generally have a powerful positive outlook combined with a talent to identify what inspires people. Their ability to create and transform ideas is one I value highly, as we advance much more quickly with innovation.

Tommy is creating a new revision of game entertainment to bring people together. If that is not a brand of gaming you are interested in, it is okay to not want it. To try to derail and destroy something that will really not affect your life, but would deny others pleasure by the same destruction, is rooted in a place of selfishness, ego, and even narcissism, where you believe your opinion carries much more weight and importance.

Thank you Tommy for having the drive to create. I pray your perseverance is rewarded.

I also hope the haters can find a positive project on which to focus their talents. I know their pursuit of happiness will have better success when they can fight for their passion instead of crusading against their dislikes.

Malignant parasites is definitely accurate description.  3 things I would add and when you think about it,  its actually very hilarious. 1 To boost your ratings or views you need more subscriptions so your content get to a larger audience.  Which they are not doing because their view count is super low. Which is funny because sneakyv has been doing this the longest.  And his rate of growth hasnt really grown.

Now to the 2nd part. To gain more subs you need to work on your channel.  And have content that fits to a variety of people with a variety of interests.  Something that cant happen if all you make is Amico hate videos.

3rd part. Starting new channels every week or 2 you are essentially hitting the reset button and trying to gain a base of followers but only gaining the same number of haters you had before.  Basically spinning your wheels in the mud.  Its hilarious to watch because they or He however you want to dice it isnt going anywhere.  And at this rate of growth the Amico will have launched and had a full production run and likely be on to Amico 2 before they or he,lol, gets anywhere.

I got tired of their BS a while back so I don't look at any of their videos.  Since Tommy posted them here, I read the question.

... Tough questions?  It's easy to come up with tough questions, but these aren't it. The majority of these have a purpose and it's not to get more info to the masses, it's to try and embarrass Tommy, to try and catch him in a lie, etc.   There is nothing that is conceived from journalistic integrity with these questions.

Tommy:  Free advice - Don't waste any more of your time on this type of BS.  We all know you can hold your own, that was clear 30 years ago and it's even clearer now with what you've done thus far.  But whether you agree or not, this type of negative energy can sap away at you and if anything, can take your attention away from more important things like family and getting this console out the friggin door eheh

A message to the negative nannies of the world: if you want to see if a company is legit, if there is a real vision in place and if it has a chance at success, you can always tell via one thing:  look to see who's on board, look to see who the head of the company surrounds him/herself with.  Look to see if what they are doing is out in the open.  USE FRIGGING GOOGLE to try and find the answers to your "tough questions", might shock yourselves by finding the tough answers are right in front of you.

What disappoints me is when people spew venom and whatever they pass off as journalistic intent, they aren't just flinging the crap at their target but at the entire project and everyone associated with it.  If there is a cookie trail of info that shows there should be doubt, its fair game to push for answers but not this way.  I mean, it's obvious what pops their tart. Talk about digging themselves in a hole...

There's nothing wrong with wondering if Amico will succeed.  There's nothing wrong with questioning facets of the business model (ie: game funding, target audience, etc).  There's nothing wrong with having doubts. The approach they've taken has nothing to do with these, for them, it's obviously personal, and when it's personal, it has nothing to do with facts or Q/A's.  How hard is it to ask questions with integrity and respect?  Apparently plenty hard!

They should ask themselves:  "What would it take for us to abandon this crusade and walk away from the constant attacks?"

Their answer is likely "when Tommy steps down" and THAT is the problem right there, answering this would be admittance that this has nothing to do with journalistic integrity and all personal BS.

Ugh, I feel like I need to take a shower after reading that "Q/A"...

System platform development is hard, and the haters haven't played in that realm. By percentage, few have. I've worked on a few original platforms, which is uncommon. It's fun to make the new things. Hang in there Tommy, we're rooting for you at Spacebar Arcade in Boise. Go Amico!

System platform development (video games or otherwise) is far more challenging than making a platformer game.

Q:
You stated that you were going to have some big reveals at e3 2020, which was just a few months after the global pandemic started.

:)  So just thought I'd answer everything they asked (across the videos they posted) and now I'm done with them. :)

Anyway... bottom line... I thought the answers were interesting so I wanted to share them here with everyone.  Normally I wouldn't have responded...  but thought that some of you would be interested in some of the answers.

Thanks!

I’m very much looking forward to finding out the date time and location of the Intellivision event I’m hoping you guys post the event on your YouTube page after it’s over I feel like I will for sure want to rewatch it several times maybe even a few times with some friends

Reading the terms and conditions and it says the giveaway is only open to residents of the U.S.

Sure enough:

ELIGIBILITY: The Sweepstakes is open to individuals who meet the following criteria: (a) are twenty-one (21) years of age or older as the date of entry, (b) legal residents of the United States (50 states and District of Columbia, but specifically excluding the territory of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, United States territories, possessions, and protectorates, foreign based United States military installations and wherever restricted or prohibited by law) (“Entrant” or “entrant”). Sponsor, each of its respective partners, advertising, promotion and public relations agencies and their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agencies (collectively, the "Sponsor Affiliates") are not eligible to participate in the Sweepstakes and/or win a Prize.

So... what about people who meet these requirements but don't live in the United States? Maybe there's something I missed, though.
