Hey Tommy I have an if question for you I’m not sure if you will have an answer yet or not but wanted to check.  If the release date ends up getting moved will you be moving the final payment date for those of us that preordered the system or will the payment date still be September?

Final payment wouldn't be "due" until we are ready to ship.  You would be contacted a few weeks before to finalize the order.

Thanks!

Tommy, a question comes to mind.

With all the different style we can have with the controller for a baseball game, you already said it could be possible to have 2 or 3 baseball games.

The deal with MLB is it for one particular game, or it could be for more games ?

Thank you.

Just one.  Probably wouldn't add another baseball game for awhile.

And what the heck on the dots along the edge of the desk? They look so familiar but I can't place them

P.S. Thanks for the Snake Plissken (my semi namesake) include - didn't go unnoticed 😀

Oh wow!  I didn't even notice the Running Man in the lights on the building in the background!  Hahaha!

And the color cubes on the bottom of the mic?   GENIUS!!!!!!!!

Damn son, you've got a good eye! 😉👍

The dots on the desk are morse code. You'll have to copy the code below:

.---- ----- .---- ----- ..--- ----- ..--- -----

and then paste it into this online morse code translator to find out what it means.

P.S. Snake is a badass!

I just did what you said... and it was fun as hell!

Thanks for the added pressure.   :)

I like that idea. There have been many fun baseball games, and other sports titles, over the years...with many different styles of play. It’d be a blast to have more choices, at least down the road. For example, you have Intellivision NHL Hockey and then the NES hockey with the average guys, big guys and skinny guys. Very different games and both fun.

Yeah... that is my thought as well.  Doing some Retro Reimagined stuff like Football would be cool.  Intellivision, Tecmo, 10 Yard Fight (which we have), Backyard Football, etc.

Yes!  I mentioned it in another thread, but two students at my university won the ACL's College Cornhole Doubles National Championship last year.  I agree with Brett Weiss's latest video (and thanks to @Intellivision Master for posting it!): it would be a mistake to downplay the Cornhole license, because the game is bigger than most may realize.

Yep!  You're absolutely correct!  A few people making fun of it online... not even realizing that they have received 10's of millions of viewers on ESPN & ESPN2 and they mentioned that they even beat out Wimbledon in viewership last year!  But it's also a game that anyone can take part it, known well as a friendly party and gathering type of game.  Oh... and the best part... because it's mostly played outdoors... that means MILLIONS of people are typically unable to play it during the winter months.  If only they had a simple INDOOR solution.   :)

Yeah I've gathered, it's probably bigger in the U.S. than here in Canada, we have curling which is a niche sport but which is pretty big up here (Tommy any curling games coming?  Maybe  an association with the World Curling Federation?)  I guess if Amico is the only console that has ACL as a sponsor it could draw in fans of the sport as they play their favorite pastime at home with friends and family.  I could it see it doing well.

Yep!  Some of the pro players have already been tweeting about it (as well as the ACL itself!)

And their mailing list is HUGE!

Wouldn't It Be Something if we could advertise the game on ESPN AS A PACK-IN during the competitions?

I think cornhole could be somewhat of a Wii Bowling for the Amico, but as far as the license, it reminds me of the Intellivision license for Backgammon back in the day. Doubt the license sold a ton more of Backgammon. To a degree, name licensing is like a explaining a joke. If you have to explain it, a ton is lost in the process. MLB is huge because MLB (and for some of us, Intellivision history). A very small population is familiar with ACL (I wasn't). I like the license because it's a nod back to ABPA Backgammon, but much as the ABPA didn't sell billions of Intellivision Backgammon (people weren't familiar with that organization), the ACL name won't sell this game either to a significant degree. Wii Bowling didn't have PBA attached to it (unless I'm mistaken). Regardless, it delivered, and that was because of compelling gameplay.

Ultimately, the games need to be compelling. I am a fan of the throwback "what is that?!" level of Intellivision licensing, though. Intellivision lives!

For a growing company like ours... it's the exposure to their audience and partnership possibilities that make it really great too!

Regarding the Cornhole license... it depends on what Amico gets for it beyond just a game on the console.

I’ve only watched it in recent weeks but what I see is guys standing in a very regulated area and not moving around a lot until changing sides.

If there’s an Amico ad on one of those banners (which aren’t digital, so they don’t change that I’m aware of) that’s a lot of eyeballs on an ad throughout a match.

By comparison, I’m watching an AFL game right now and their advertising around the playing field is digital and constantly changes, along with constant changes in camera angles to follow play. I don’t think that happens as much in Cornhole so your banner gets good visibility if it’s within a great camera angle. The organization can probably be pretty dang specific with how much camera time you’ll get based on where your banner is.

I don’t think, back in the day, there were backgammon tourneys on TV. So for me, any comparison with that doesn’t quite fit.

I think it will become more clear to all of us once Tommy comes along and explains (if he can at this point) what these relationships with Cornhole and MLB will mean as far as visibility at games, and if there’s a player/Amico TV commercial partnership.

But picture a TV ad during a Cornhole match with some of the top players having a great time at home with their families playing the Amico version while it’s pouring rain outside. (Dare I even ponder an ACL-branded Amico?)

Then do the same thing with Curling in Canada. And whatever sport is popular to a wide number of people (but isn’t a “major” sport) in whichever countries the Amico is eventually moving into.

Banners during matches, co-sponsorships with their partners (Subway as an example), TV ads during ESPN broadcasts, in person set-ups at their live weekend events, promotion from all the players and their followers, etc., etc...

It's all possible.

:)

Horseshoe pitching is very similar in play as cornhole. How about a horseshoe pitching game?

And official licensing to accompany the new game.

The NHPA.

I don’t think this has been asked or answered yet, and I’m not searching this thread.

What's the latest on physical games?  Game card? SD type card? A code in a box?

And, has any game box design been worked on?

thanks

Physical games will have their license read through RFID.

So....an actual physical game cartridge/SD?   Or some RFID business type looking card that you swipe over a reader?

Here was a very early mock-up we did about a month after we got the official license and started working on it.  I'm not saying the game is going to look like this... this is merely a quick and early mock-up we did based on the original look of the game if it were reimagined.   A lot of the proportions are incorrect and again... merely only a very early mock-up just to start getting some initial ideas.  We did 4 or 5 of these, but I thought this one was pretty cool.

Let me again repeat... this is JUST a mock-up and .jpg... but something to maybe get folks a little excited.

I’m now waiting for the video to be released that says this is the confirmed final and finished version of the game.

And why am I not surprised that the two teams chosen were the Yankees and the Red Sox? 🤔

Lol... Let's make a video on how this is just a .jpg and the Amico must be fake, and if somehow it is real, they can't even get more than 3 players on the field. I can't believe it... we have all been fooled... 🤣

I think it's amazing what Mattel came up with in 1980, 9 years before I started playing video games: the original Baseball game looks fun even for someone who doesn't like the sport.

The strategic decision to choose Cornhole as a pack-in is also surprising and it looks like it could work pretty well, at least in the US. It looks like, in many European countries, pétanque is the "European Cornhole", while bowls is a very similar sport played in the Commonwealth countries, and someone recently said here that curling would be the Canadian equivalent, so I wonder if Tommy and team can use Cornhole's engine, change the terrain, change the balls and release other similar titles in other parts of the world.

The thing with pétanque, however, is that it's not a popular sport at all and is mostly played by elders (this video is filmed in the city where I live in Spain, lol) Cornhole looks more fun.

Also, a great thing about cornohle is that kids can beat adults in official matches.

You have the Tecmo license? I remember buying the NES multitap so we could get 4 players on that thing and it was the best football game memories I've ever had. Not that some football games haven't advanced since Tecmo but just goes to show you that the best memories are gaming together...if you can't manage that prepare to be easily forgotten. You'll hold onto the memory better when you have friends to share it with :)
