You should probably just let people do what they want to do instead of literally, now, commanding someone to do as you will. No one can make anyone stop commenting or responding to vile, hateful posters or commentators. He literally just posted that the initial feedback for Amico was 80% negative until he targeted the haters and figured out how to communicate with them or get through to them. 

 

Allowing really uneducated hateful vitriol to multiply or get spammed all over without dealing with it is a recipe for disaster for a fledgling company.  

Directly arguing with a genuine "troll" is not going to do your company any favors. It's not controlling anything. It's just fueling the fire. The best thing to do is just post the facts and set the record straight and move on. Name-calling and labeling does not help paint the company in a good light to those who are caught in-between. All I know about that back-and-forth is what I have read in here and the other forum - I did not even know about this Tony guy until last week when he came in here. To me, the whole thing looked unprofessional for both sides imo.

The point is, all of that didn't need to be brought here.  Believe it or not, this forum existed long before Amico and it will be around long after.  If Tommy was concerned, he could have dealt with the guy directly outside of this forum or started his own private forum to address hostile commentators.

I completely agree with you and ColecoJoe - the thread needs some clean up. But I will say, inviting people here to see if they can attempt to discuss their actual issues isn't a bad thing. He showed what a lot of haters show - no logic, and attention seeking.

 

It's on the person if they can't make a cogent point after being given a real, moderated platform.

 

Trolls, haters, etc. can be reasoned with and turned around if you can get through to them. That's what Tommy has done on several occasions.

So you're not seeing the entire behavior or things that are said to me and others.

Just wanted you to be aware.  I'm sure some of the mods here may be able to shed more light on the Tony situation as I wasn't even aware he got booted until CPUWIZ mentioned it a few pages ago.

 

 

 

He was banned for his inability to not have a post that had politics in it. It wasn't due to his civility. He was warned about politics and ignored it. CPUWIZ would be a better person to ask though.

That seems pretty aggressive too and I'd be curious as to if Tony was banned for being aggressive why this is allowed? It is this type of stuff that brought said drama. Tony wouldn't have even been here if it wasn't for the purpose to be put in his place.

Couple of rando thoughts:

 

- I am so hyped that both kevtris and Tommy T. himself are chatting in this thread.

- Tommy, just in case ya didn't know, most of the people who have been taking potshots at you are the same..."bless their heart" kinda people that have been doing this to others here for years now. They don't take kindly to having their limited and relatively uneducated world and business beliefs challenged instead of widely fawned over. 

- I used to really like Pat and Ian, but holey moley have they gone down a dark path. It used to be I found them to have informative thoughts, nowadays it is just typical click-bait garbage and a couple of seemingly very unhappy people wanting others to be unhappy too. 

 

I was one of the people who didn't really think much of the Amico when I first heard about it, but I've been convinced by quality messaging, tons of info, and the potential for a few months of fun with game geeks like myself. Anything else is great, but that alone is worth $300 to me. Frankly, I have the same expectations about the VCS, although Tommy's PR work has clearly been more in-line with what the Amico audience is looking for.

Despite what others have said... seems like folks are forgetting that I answered his questions in a very respectful way.  He then starts calling me a liar anf getting aggressive.  The only person looking for a fight was him.

If the guy was really thought to have been hateful he shouldn't have been brought here. If he's hateful on twitter, youtube, reddit, or whatever, what makes you or anyone else think this place would be different?

I was hoping he would be civil and ultimately result in regular chatting. 

 

It's often that trolls are put in their place and they come around to realizing what they were doing. This one didn't. 

 

There was no "flame war." He just embarrassed himself by being called out several times by Tommy and then he got himself banned for ignoring rules about politics.
