How about actually racing on those tracks you could buy in the 70's/80's where you snapped them all together and the cars raced on the electrical wires embedded on the tracks? That would be neat.

Making custom tracks like that would be sick.

Oh yeah, imagine setting up your own custom tracks just like you were playing with the real tracks from those sets. Loops, overpasses, etc.

A slot racer game was shown, and it reminded me of Pixeljunk Racers

The notion of what makes things complex, vs simple family fun is somewhat lost on me. Making and sharing your own tracks seems like it would fall under "complex," but could be kinda fun in an Excitebike kind of way.

I had racing games where you made your own tracks, and sports games where you made your own rosters.  I may have messed with that stuff once but never really bothered.  I just played the games.  A casual game can have complex optional features.  And they did say some Amico games will be more "hard core" than others.

Edit:

This talk about game features is speculative anyway.

Yeah or having a way to build your own track in the game. That would be fun. Kind of like the original Excitebike.

Something else that creates a lot of friction for super casual players is being asked to whip out a credit card, even if it's for a pay once, play forever game. There's a reason free games do so well on mobile and make up for it with in app purchases.

If the quality were high enough, wouldn't it be neat to just raise the entry price a little bit, and have it come with a crapton of games? Or a (free/bundled) subscription that would add more content as it's finished, like PlayDate is planning to do?

UFO 50 seemed like the last word in retro style indie games. It was supposed to be released some time ago, but now it's scheduled to come out "when it's done, because game development is hard."

There's so much indie goodness out there that would appeal to retro fans.

I think the subscription idea is an interesting one. I do something like that for a card game I play.

My big concern for video games is dev time. Making a card for a game is simpler than a full fledge game. That would be my concern for the PlayDate.

I do think it would be cool to have an 'Amico Family Fun Club' subscription service. Guaranteed to get so many games per year and you get to keep them. It would make each month an exciting anticipation of the new game. It would also encourage people to try games that they might normally ignore.

There is some retro indie goodness out there. Two I can think of I love is Rikki & Vikki (7800) 2 player Co-Op https://store.steampowered.com/app/893690/Rikki__Vikki/

And Micro Mages (NES) 4 player Co-Op https://store.steampowered.com/app/1065020/Micro_Mages/

Both under $11 on Steam. I know you can still get R&V on cart and I think they are still working on getting NES carts out for the MM KS.

The kids and their momma got me a Slot Car set for Christmas, so they're still kicking.   One interesting concept that could lend itself to an Amico version of sorts -- they sell many add ons for these things, and one of them is a piece of track that connects to phones/tablets to emulate a Pit Stop.  When the crew tells you to come to the pit, you have to stop on that lap, and grab the phone, and complete the mini-game process as fast as possible before you can begin racing again.  Pretty neat.

Also, Nintendo did a slot car game on 3DS that was great, but was held back a bit by the Street Pass concept. By "held back" -- I loved street pass, but it was a bummer at times having the playtime limited each day until you get more passes.   The game had a story of the player, new in town, having to prove himself in some sort of slot car racing scene to take down the best kid in town, or something like that.  Fun gameplay that really captured the slot car experience, couple with a reason for a campaign to exist.   Something like that would be a perfect fit for this system.

That slot racers thing is such a neat idea! I think the Amico has great potential to bring those type of fun ideas to the market.

Since the Amico is focusing on co-op ,kids and family friendly games. I wonder if IE have approached Dreamworks for any of their titles like this.

Image result for video games kids with trolls in them

There is a lot of potential in this franchise for sure ..  Look how happy they are.

The silver one has special powers.

Licensing well-known characters can eat up a lot of a small budget, but seems like an effective way to buy the attention of kids in the target audience.

Hopefully then in a year or so when IE becomes established in the market Dreamworks will approach them. I think Tommy mention that they have been in talks with Disney as well?  Like you mentioned Trolls would gather attention for IE and the co op gaming community.  , that's for sure.  What kind of theme do you guys think would be good for a Troll game. I think something like teaching children real meanings behind peoples real intentions ,actions and words would be a good one..

Any thoughts ?

Been playing this one (Magicat) a little today and I think a neat platformer like this would go great on Amico. Simple controls (only 3 buttons), but good kid friendly platforming. Looks like there will be some puzzles and I haven't got to those parts yet (so those may or may not be difficult). Only thing it's missing is multiplayer and right now I don't see why a game like this couldn't do co-op like in New SMB.

Only $5 too.

Looks like it would be a shovelware game which the Wii was well known for having.

Can't say I see the resemblance. You know his avatar is from Space Channel 5, right? Which honestly, as a rhythm game, it wouldn't be the worst idea for a couch co-op revival.

Two screen game that could be done on Amico. Multiplayer could be controlling different instruments instead of straight beats.

Mr. Beefy should add this to OP.  Great to know, thanks!!!

Edit:  Is this going to be a remake, or just the original INTV game?

Sorry for the late response, I just found this thread.

Man, I am a huge BurgerTime fan! I used to play it all the time in the arcade and then loved playing the ColecoVision port as well. The NES port is excellent as well. I'm always up for more of that.

I didn't even know they had brought BT back for current gen (BurgerTime Party) until recently. It looks decent enough, perhaps the graphics look a bit like an Adobe Flash animation, but as games like Castle Crashers have proven, it's more about the game play and co-op. I'll grab the physical copy when the price drops a bit. It supports 4 player local co-op and online as well.

Awesome, and seeing how it says "Super Burgertime" seems like an updated version which is great.

Is it going to be an "enhanced for Amico" port of this game?

Awesome game. I just picked this up on the Switch, under the "Johnny Turbo " brand.

All of those classic Data East games are on sale now for only $1.99. I also grabbed Heavy Burger. An absolute love letter to fans of Data East arcade cabs and twin stick shooters such as Robotron: 2084! Also has 4 player co-op as well.

R-Type is still my most anticipated game for Amico, this is one of those games that could convince me to buy the Amico sooner rather than later.

Is R-Type coming to the Amico? Better hope those controllers are latency free and can handle a "beating" and being thrown! haha.. R-Type games are often pretty brutal "old school tough". Hopefully they can add a co-op mode like they did with R-Type Dimensions. That was an awesome port with new 3D perspective views and a new soundtrack, both of which could be toggled on-the-fly.

Hey Spoonman!!!  Nice to see you around these parts.    Yeah that was definitely one of my concerns for R-Type.  Hopefully the controls are tight and responsive.

Yeah, I figured I'd follow this thread. Some of the others seemed to be a bit one sided. I've been watching and reading up on the Amico since it was first announced and I'm trying to wrap my head around who it's for and if it's something I need to get. Thus far I still can't answer either of those questions. :P

I will say that I found the trashing of modern consoles as part of the Amico sales pitch to be a bit off-putting. I'm still very curious and look forward to seeing more game demos though.
