We are also trying to get Amazon Europe more stock as well (shifting some retail units around).

#1 Main board is installed in the base

 

#2 Rubber feet are applied to the bottom of the base

 

#3 The top (where the controllers go) is inserted into to the accent color ring

 

#4 The controller charging daughter board is inserted into the top & accent color ring assembly

 

#5 The power button is added to the top & accent color ring assembly

 

#6 The LED side boards are mounted

 

#7 The side light guides are placed over the LED side boards

 

#8 Two wire connectors are plugged in between the charging board and the side LEDs for power & logic (to make those fancy LED effects happen)

 

#9 A wider power & data cable is plugged in the bottom main board

 

#10 The wide data/power cable is attached to the top assembly to connect everything together and the unit is closed up

 

#11 A set of screws are inserted into the base to hold the top & bottom sections together

 

#12 The light guide is added to the front LED strip on the charging board

#13 The bottom front vent cover is attached to the front light guide

 

#14 The Amico is completely assembled

I believe that was the Ethernet port which got bumped off the design in a late board revision. Normally I would miss it, but the Amico is designed for such no/low bandwidth needs, WIFI is fine.

No it's where two usb ports use to be.  I don't think earlier ptototypes had ethernet.  If you want ethernet you can get a usb-c ethernet adapter.

At one point 2 USB Type A ports were going back there. I think USB2 as far as speed goes. But I could be wrong. They may have been USB3. But it was decided that all could be done through the USBC port. (mr_me beat me by 30 seconds LOL!)

Thanks for the correction, you are right - those were usb ports. Don't know were I pulled the Ethernet port from.

Well, don’t know if the Ethernet port was ever showed in any design of the console, but it was for sure something that was talked about in the first presentation/specification but very early on was taken away/discarded. I don’t see any benefit to have it personally..🤷‍♂️

Unless they decide to put streaming apps on Amico, internet won't be used much anyway.

Not Amico related but if you have the ability, Atari Creep (friend of the Amico) is raising funds to fight Alzheimer's. Last year he smashed his old fund raising record & gave away lots of cool retro gifts to random donors, thanks to several sponsors. Help make 2021 an even better year in the fight against this dread disease that steals people away before they even pass.

Hello, folks! I'm new to Atari Age and I've joined because I'm really interested in the upcoming Intellivision Amico console. I've followed this topic for a couple of months and decided to sign up!

I'm excited about the launch of the console although, like a few other people based in the UK, I've just had my Amico console pre-order cancelled by Amazon UK due to - I believe - a misunderstanding by Amazon Europe of stock allocations. I've seen that Intellivision are working to try and get some more stock for Amazon Europe and I hope this can be achieved!

In the meantime I plan on keeping eyes on this thread and joining in the chat. It's great to see so many folk sharing their thoughts on the console.

Hi Tommy, I’ve ordered 2 Amico’s from Argos (my dads one got cancelled as well) hopefully these won’t get cancelled down the line. Thanks 😀👍

Correct.

We dumped the 2 USB charging connectors in favor of 32GB instead of 16GB.

Definitely the right choice!

Hey, Silverbot, I'm glad you managed to get your pre-orders placed with Argos. After Amazon UK cancelled my pre-order yesterday, I tried pre-ordering with Argos but there seems to have been a systems glitch - I was charged twice but still didn't get a pre-order! I'm awaiting the money to be returned to my account and I'll probably hold off and see if Amazon UK gain any more stock.

If folks are going to be drinking beer today in honor of St. Patrick's Day, you'll want this song playing in the background.  This was a song I did for Bard's Tale with the old LucasArts composers (they are all great friends and I had hired them as contractors for the project) Peter McConnell, Clint Bajakian and Michael Land.

 

Intellivision Software Technical Director John Alvarado was the Engineering Director for the game!  (cue @Michael Garvey)
