Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

Tommy - just watched you describe some of the Amico colors. The "oilspill" aspect of the Galaxy Purple you were describing is called pearlescent I believe - good term to use in future interviews. Sounds fancy too (maybe lol) 😎

Tommy,

in regards to games, the Intellivision Productions release of Swordfight could be a fun game to have for the Amico using motion controls if that would be allowed. Obviously, a one player mode would be nice to have as well.

Perhaps I need to clarify my last message: EXPLANATORY IMAGE. And by the way, I also believe the Atari VCS should have been included in the last Twitter poll by Victor Lucas. For me, those 2 retro consoles (the Analogue Pocket and the Polymega) are not real "new" consoles as they only play 20-30 year old cartridges. And it would have been interesting to see the poll results with the VCS. The Playdate should have won the silver medal. 😛

The Atari VCS isn't doing anything new, like the Analogue Pocket and Polymega, so I would argue that they should ALL not be on that poll haha

Has the Woodgrain design changed since it was first announced? Will the wood sections be textured or have a matte finish that makes them look more natural?

Matte or gloss.  We are working on images this week (not pics... but renders).

You can't really complain, Tommy... Thanks to this topic you have special agent 008 in Spain, special agent 009 in Italy, a double agent in France and several high-profile experts infiltrated in Canada... We really should recruit some Chinese and Indian guy though, we must think of the numbers. 🌍🚁🎬

I'm totally in! In 2018 I spread the promotional cards for Intellivision Entertainment to the videogames stores I know in Rome. It was funny to see the surprise in their face looking at something related to the Intellivision in 2018! :D

I find this last CES video a bit disappointing, it's too short... JUST KIDDING! It will be interesting and refreshing after that combo of 2 long ones (especially the first!). I will watch it now.

It is pretty obvious the entire panel are all heading down slightly different roads but all in the same direction. Zai is playing into the "exploding board game" market but with a tech twist, Mattel's is seeking to stay relevant with it's "generation glass" (young screen users) "core kid" with games like Pictionary Air (light pen drawing Pictionary). Of course Intellivision is merging technology with family values and just good 'ol value values. Don't think I didn't notice the fist bump with the Mattel guy when Val said you should all work together [Blarneo can we get an appropriate bromance graphic? ;)]. Really impressive to see an established company like Mattel, a startup like IE and an indie game dev like Virsix/Alta all tracking the same trends.

FYI on the poll results from Victor Lucas (Electric Playground). Pretty impressive because Victor's core audience has to be pretty hard core gamers.

In fact some of the comments were that they hadn't heard of *any* of these systems. Obviously of those that had - Amico was their #1 choice (and

I guess the VCS write-in campaign didn't fair too well ;))

Okay, I just watched the CES video! Very cool indeed. Zai Ortiz and Chris Down are really nice and creative guys and I admire what they're doing, but I can't see myself buying Alexa to play Zai's voice-controlled board game, St. Noire, or buying Chris Down's new Pictionary Air (not that different or fun). The Amico has clearly won this round, but I hope that hinted collaboration with Mattel is fruitful.

The following months will be really interesting as we learn more about Tommy's secret and potential collaboration with some other big companies, including Mattel... and Roblox! 🧐

I think it's great how games like Moon Patrol or that slot car game will use the Bruce Lee/Mashed(Drive to Survive in USA) method of letting players that have been eliminated or that are waiting for their turn attack the main player. Tommy talks about that here in the last podcast video.

Currently we haven't put a limit on them as we are assuming folks are going to want to buy some as presents for friends and family.  But if we see someone trying to buy a ton... we wouldn't allow it.  Important that true fans get one.  And yes... I do think there will be some hitting EBay for a big price at some point... but that will actually help us instead of hurt us.  So I won't mind if a few make it on there at ridiculous prices.   :)

Ugh.... its the NES classic debacle all over again! ;)

Hahahhaa!!

It's like my investor pitches.  I have a 5 minute, a 12 minute, a 30 minute... and an hour version!

Oh... and the 10 second one.

Think Nintendo Wii... but 14 years later, better technology, less expensive and complete focus on family friendly/casual games that bring people together no matter what your skill level.

Once we start showing this kind of stuff with the controllers.  YouTubers/haters/confused folks, etc. will start to understand why I keep saying that these games can't be played on any other systems.
