Not worth it.

Mods don't even bother to pin Ataribox thread in Atari 2600 forum.

In fairness their hardware and even some software seems to finally be moving forward. I am actually really happy for their backers on this. Of course, as a developer I am befuddled how you could just now be showing things like menu software for an x86 Linux build after the hardware has been nailed down for a year - but at least they have. Now all they need is someone to proofread the names on their game menu and to travel back in time and not anger 97% of their fan base.

Yea glad I made a calculated risk and decided AGAINST backing the VCS, coz if I had and saw those poor misspelled classic Atari game names, I would be beating myself up FOR backing it as it blew any chance of this thing has for being a halfway decent product.

I have been wanting to ask Tommy if there will be any Amico titles straight up targeting the tradition young girl market? Something along the lines like the mobile game Love Nikki-Dress Up Queen (yeah, that is really the name) or just cutesy characters like Trolls, or My Little Pony or American Girl (not necessary those IPs - just along those lines)?

Rfid cartridges that you don't plug-in perhaps; shaped like Mattel cartridges.

Wouldn't that be something.

But how could I not have thought about it !!!

It's Shark Shark of course !!! Young girls and Grand Parents will more likely play with Shark Shark instead of Night Stalker !!

Now you're thinking.  :)

The part I thought was a little sketchy with all those videos they posted is that they never went into any of the games from the menu.  Gotta ask yourself why.  Would you want to show that there are actual games and what they look like?  I'm wondering if the original games are from the arcade Roms (Asteroids, Centipede, Tempest, etc.) or are they the 2600 versions (like the crappy AT Games Flashbacks).

Just curious... will there be a maximum # of Founder Editions one can buy.. meaning max on order 1, maybe 2?  Reason... I can easily see someone buying extra to then try to flip later for more $.  Would be nice to know out of the 2600, they are in 2600 different peoples hands and not someone that hoards for possible later sales, etc...

Just curious.

Currently we haven't put a limit on them as we are assuming folks are going to want to buy some as presents for friends and family.  But if we see someone trying to buy a ton... we wouldn't allow it.  Important that true fans get one.  And yes... I do think there will be some hitting EBay for a big price at some point... but that will actually help us instead of hurt us.  So I won't mind if a few make it on there at ridiculous prices.   :)

Tommy, just to be clear, Paul has promised me that I could buy all 2600 of them and would be able to sell them at at fair markup on eBay. 😂

I think what is creating all this hype is the combination of a really good product and a really good seller.

The Amico is so great it kind of sells itself and Tommy could even sell us the Atari VCS if he wanted. 🐑🐑🐑🐑

By the way, Tommy, after you manage fixing what's wrong with video games these days, you have another mission... MMGA (Make Music Great Again) :

Don't RFID chips have really limited capacity? Or is it kind of like a USB with an RFID chip to read the data?

Your right most RFID chips store tiny amounts of data up to maybe 64k. Because they are usually used for things like door prox cards and inventory tracking - you just don’t need much storage and keeping it cheap makes more sense.
