Hey Tommy, here's an original question about the Amico, an interesting offtopic question and something I've noticed about the Roblox controversy:

- What if you break or lose all your Amico controllers? Can you use only smartphones to play?

- What was your involvement with Powerslave on the Saturn? I loved the demo on the Playstation and the music was really cool, but I was wondering why your name only appears on the Saturn release.

- It's funny how all the noise you're making is starting paying off. Victor Lucas followers will know about the Amico, CES visitors... and now Roblox fans too! In one of your recent Twitter messages, the first (and for now the only) reply is from a "Roblox player", and it's a positive comment. Surely some hardcore, mentally unstable Roblox fans will harass you, but I'm starting to suspect that sometimes creating a big controversy is worth the trouble to make yourself or your company known... at least in these viral, crazy days of the Future® (2020).

Tommy: apologies if this was answered already but will it be a notice received on the mailing list that just tells us “it’s live” and we then preorder the FE edition or will the email state “as of x date at x time, log into (insert website) and preorder your FE Amico”?

until end of October I work for a living so I am not constantly tethered to my email so if there is just a prompt via email, I will probably miss out, therefore hopefully some advance notice so that I can try and be available. Ie: I just want a fair shot at ordering one.

Although I would have preferred “one per customer” I totally get why you are allowing some multiples.  At the end of the day there won’t be a better advert and better message to your investors for what you are trying to do then than to say: “we sold out on ALL the Amico FE preorders in 30 min” (or I suspect If your infrastructure supports it, even quicker)

whatever the case good luck with this.  As they say, sh1t is about to get real!”  :)

Hi Tommy,

yes this is interesting - if the controllers are RFID linked to your account and one breaks how do you access your games? I assume, that in the settings somewhere you can unlink that controller and add another.

on another note, I am super excited to read and watch anything and everything to do with the machine. Are you in talks to release a bespoke magazine?

I don't know how the menu on Amico will work, but I'm looking forward to it.

We know that every new game will have a great opportunity with a 10 day window. (more or less)

It will be like a celebration for them and for us, another graduate or new born in the family ! 👶👨‍🎓👩‍🎓

It might be interesting to have information on the creation of the game, a little history as well as a presentation of the developers and what they have done before.

It could also be anecdotes, images, short video, etc. Something good without excessive costs.

All the attention would really be on their game as well as on them. They are the stars ! 🥇

It would be a great advertisement for them, and really interesting for most of those with an Amico.

1.  Yes.  Absolutely.

2.  I did the sound design and Saturn port.  Didn't work on the PS version.

3.  wink-wink.  :D

Also... I banned a lot of the haters on Twitter which is probably why you don't see negative comments as much.  Way more positive folks came aboard thought.  I'd say I nuked about 50 people total and I'd be lying if I didn't say I got great enjoyment out of doing it.

We will start to release info today on social media (and here) about exact timing.  You'll know when it's coming and when to look for it.  Sometime Friday is the answer... but the closer we get the better we'll understand the time and will let folks know over social media (and doing an e-mail blast tomorrow).

Once it's ready and open, you will get an e-mail with the link to pre-order.

Although it would be nice... I don't think we're at the point where 2,600 machines would sell out in under 30 minutes.  I'm thinking it's going to take at least a week or so if I had to guess... but again... I'm totally fine with being way off and wrong.  :)

Correct.  You can link & unlink physical controllers.

Our big PR stuff will start in June at E3 and early fall.  A lot of these publications will only run 1 big story... so we need to be close to launch when this stuff hits.  So currently not planning any big magazine things at this moment.

Thanks! The sounds were really cool too, good job! Powerslave is a very underrated game, some call it a FPS metroidvania.

I just realized that there a few awesome "Tallarico style" video game soundtracks from 1995-1997. Games like Fury 3 (1, 2), Powerslave (1, 2), Twisted Metal 2 (1, 2), Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit (1, 2)...

🎸🎶🤘

Back to the Amico, I'm looking forward to see how the soccer game will be. Here's a suggestion: The anime series Captain Tsubasa is still very popular in Spain and Japan (they just announced a crazy arcade soccer game for PS4/Switch/PC) and people within the 35-45 year old age group remember it fondly. The series was also very popular in European countries such as Germany, Italy, France and Poland, as well as in Latin America. A unique soccer game based around that could work well on the Amico, similar to the one released for the first Playstation 25 years ago.

Too late to edit my message, but I just wanted to add that, apparently, the PC version of Powerslave is very different to the Playstation and Saturn versions! It's inferior both graphically and gameplay-wise, being a standard FPS and losing the metroidvania elements. So in case anyone is interested in playing the game, remember that.

LOL, it looks like Tommy will take care of the sound design for all the games.

Tommy, do you plan to do this for every single Amico game or only for the initial games? And in any case, can you reveal the brand of coffee you drink?

Sensible Soccer was one, it not THE best 8-bit style soccer game for it's era.  Would be fun to see a soccer (Football) game like this on the Amico

A500/1000 Version...

Think of the multiplayer possibilities of Dig Dug.

Maybe I'm wrong but I'd like to see a sideways orientation to Soccer and most other sports games.

Agree.  I think Tommy & IE can do way better than "sensible soccer."  Who came up with a crap name like that for a sports game anyway?!  It would be nice to have something reminiscent to NASL soccer, but with a more modern look! 😎

Sensible was the company name... Sensible Software to be exact, so pretty natural to come up with Sensible Soccer, Sensible Golf, etc. Easily recognizable branding and you knew by the iconic name that they were/are high quality games.

Here's my opinion of a few soccer games, both arcade and simulation ones:

Let's start with the simulation ones, as the Amico will not be inspired by any of those:

- Sensible soccer is too difficult for a soccer game that uses only one button. Dribbling is impossible, the pace is too fast, there's no way to make three consecutive passes... I believe it's a highly overrated game.

- If you want to play really good simulation soccer games, try Jikkyō World Soccer 2: Fighting Eleven/International Superstar Soccer Deluxe for the SNES/Genesis, Winning Eleven 97/Goal Storm 97/International Superstar Soccer Pro or Winning Eleven 3/International Superstar Soccer Pro 98 for the Playstation (Winning Eleven 3: Final Version has better gameplay adding 1-2 passes but never left Japan) or Winning Eleven 5/Pro Evolution Soccer for the Playstation 2 (Winning Eleven 5: Final Evolution has improved gameplay and it manages to emulate the slow pace of a soccer game pretty well, making short passes more important).

- Even an 8 bit game such as Matchday 2, the best soccer game of the 80s, can be considered a better simulation game than Sensible Soccer and other much more famous games. With only one action button, the scrolling bar changes the power of the shots and players have to protect the ball, push each other to gain the position or use short passes to try to find some space. You can even control the goalkeeper saves and the direction of the jump in headers.

And now let's move to the arcade soccer games, the ones that could really inspire soccer games on the Amico:

- The Neo Geo Super Sidekicks series is fun in a crazy way but perhaps is not a good example for the Amico, you don't even know where you are passing the ball most of the time and passes, unlike shots, always follow the direction you are looking at. Pushing other players is much more important than passing and that can be stressing, even for an arcade style sports game.

- Goal! Goal! Goal! is a very addictive Neo Geo game with a nice shooting mechanic and an effective dribbling system: you run faster diagonally.

- Nintendo World Cup is a great example of a fast arcade action soccer game that doesn't follow the rules.

- Tecmo World Soccer 96 is a nice Neo Geo game with one of the best dribbling mechanics: the game pauses and the attacking and defending player play some kind of minigame where they can only advance a fixed amount of distance each step as if they were in a chess table.

Soccer games for the Amico could have only 2 buttons, passing and shooting, to simplify the game for non gamers, but a third button to make long passes or a fourth one to sprint could be implemented. Passes should be directed automatically to the players in your team. I hope the team working on this can come up with something fun for 8 players. Let's look for a soccer emoticon... Okay, here it is:

Hmm...

With rumors about Frogger coming on Amico ( From Konami )

this game could be Circus Charlie ? (Also from Konami in 1984 !) Maybe !

If at least one of those two games are coming on Amico, that's huge ! Konami was so good with arcade games !

If an Ice Hockey comes to the Amico....

Do not make it SLOW like Intellivision NHL / Slap Shot.

What I am talking about is changing directions!  I played Hockey from Mites 6-8 years old through College.  And then OLD MAN league :(

NHL was the only sport game I didn't play on the Intellivision.  My Brother and I would play NASL instead.  I never played an actual game of soccer in my life.

Hockey should be soccer at super speed!  NHL speeds reach 30 MPH.  Of course an active shift in Hockey is 30 seconds!

Video sports games in general... ugh. Biggest problem for me (and many others) when trying to play a game like Hockey or Basketball, is keeping track of who has the ball or puck. Too many players on a crowded field, usually made worse by poor color choices, camera angles or perspectives. AND what direction is the goal I'm supposed to be going for? I forget half the time. lol

Make the players too fast and forget about it!   🤣

That's what happens when somebody from California programs a hockey game in 1979.  It's not all bad, they did get a few things right but NHL was one of the two intellivision sports games that was a little disappointing for me.  And don't call the Amico game "Ice" Hockey.
