This is super cool Tommy.

You're the only person that has me excited for sounds in a cornhole and farkle game! Now I'm not only looking forward to more gameplay footage, but also more audio.

Tommy’s solution makes sense. I guess I’m wondering more if my main controller breaks, in time we’ll find out.

It would be difficult if not impossible to link a main account to two separate consoles, because you could potentially play the same games at the same time.

A work around would be maybe a specific download only functions on one console. So if you own Yar's Revenge and Adventure, you can only download them one time onto one console. But if you remove it from one console, it can then be installed on the other console. Although that would be odd without being connected to the internet.

He said if it breaks you can get a new one and marry it to the base station, his words not mine.   :)

The way I am doing my setup is.  Family room Amico is my Kid's account.  My Office Amico is My Account, Parents Bedroom Amico is my wifes account, My Garage Amico is my Burner account to troll happiness to people :)  Everyone has High Scores on their system that we can all challenge.  If I visit the Family room with my controller and achieve my high score on Moon Patrol then when I return to my Office and with a tapity tap tap...voila it is there.... Even though Amico's solution may not work for eveyone I still think it is pretty good considering, but perhaps there is still time for adjustments, Tommy Listens to people everywhere, is is the ultimate lurker :)

The thing that is confusing me about this is that purchased games would be tied to a single account, right?  So if you bought all your games on a single account, you'd always need to carry that controller around to each unit you are playing (and presumably can only play on one machine at a time).  If you purchased different games on each account, you'd have to remember which controller had which games and take the right one to the room you are currently playing in.  Otherwise you would need to repurchase every game on each account.  Or will there be some "Family sharing" account structure like Amazon does with Prime where purchases can be shared across accounts?

Or maybe I'm thinking about this all wrong...

The way I understand it each Amico in order to purchase games online will have to be tied to its own main account. That account and all games linked to it can be moved to a new console should the old one break but two consoles can’t be signed to the same main account at the same time.

If I’m understanding correctly your controller can rfid to another system and give access to your games on the main system until you tap said controller to its main unit again.

that means for the 2 console situation you described you would either need the second console in a significant others name or maybe in your name but linked to a different form of payment (the same name different payment method is speculation as I have not seen that asked)

I just requested a refund for a game on Steam because the damn thing was so bug ridden, it was a chore for my daughter (the reason I bought it) to play, so she didn't enjoy it at all.   It made me wonder -- what's gonna be the stance (policy/procedure) on refunds regarding digital game purchases?     Any plans to follow the Steam/Microsoft model, where you have a couple of weeks and less than 2 hours of playtime to request a refund for any reason, or more like Nintendo/Sony, where the digital receipt says "My money now, fooser!  Bwah ha ha ha" in the fine print?

Fingers crossed for the Vectrex Prism. (That’s what I’m calling it in my head!)

Hi!

Welcome!!

I like that name!

I've been friends with Jay Smith since the mid 90's (Smith Engineering was the company who created the Vectrex).

He even showed me the COLOR version of Vectrex that they were working on before the industry crash in 1984!

I have no problem with travelling profiles, but does it work with any controller paired to that system, or is one of them the primary?  Do I need to mark which is which and which goes to which system after we finish a 4 player game?  I assume a purchased game can only be in use on one system or the other at any given moment, so I would need 2 copies if Moon Patrol is to be played on both systems simultaneously.  Can folks play the rest of the library fine if one of the controllers is currently in use for a given game in the other room?

Basically just not quite understanding how tied the controllers are to a system vs a profile/account and how flexible a family trying to shuffle between 2 consoles will be.  Mostly I hope to have us all playing together, but if I was playing in the study and someone else hops on the living room system, I don't want their experience to be disrupted because I'm playing.

Yeah Great points about the # of copies of games, gotcha :)

That’s a good idea but I prefer to have one set of high scores for multiple systems if it’s possible.

Tommy, those photos are awesome.  Mic stand?  Naah, I got the top and bottom of a Yahtzee box right here, and this cornhole bag for the right angle, who needs a mic stand?

Hahaha!

I actually set those up like that for the picture.  I actually did have mic stands when I was recording.  :)

I used 3 different types of microphones to see which one I like the best for particular sounds while editing.

Is there a master account per system, or individual profiles per person?  If I play on either system, am I 'Me' on both, or am I 'Me1' on one and 'Me2' on the other. How would 2 systems interact with the 4 members of the family, does everyone need to be attached to a specific controller, or can they 'log in' anywhere they want, and what ramifications are there to what content they can access on each system?

Let's day all my purchased games are on the main system in the living room.  If I want to play Night Stalker on the system in the study, I have to take a controller from the living room system to the study, or I can just log in to the study system and have access to all my content?  Does each member of the family have access to all games on either system, or are they paired to one system (or controller) or another?

If none of these questions make sense, then it's likely because I'm over thinking it and everything is fine. 🙂

You would need to take the controller to the other room.  You can't log in with your master account to any system.  You can take your player profile with you on the controller though.

This is confusing for now but it will be quite unusual for most people to have 2 systems. It would not be the end if the world to buy 2 copies of certain games if needed but it would be nice to have access to all of your games on multiple systems. I understand why that might not be possible as people might share account information to avoid buying games .

So if you want a Separate library of games on both systems then you must buy multiple copies. This will be a rare situation.

so if I tap my controller on my second console , I can not access any of my games in the first console right ?

We can't really put the same game onto different consoles in the same house.  Would be so easy to pirate.  If different games are being bought on different consoles throughout the household, then in order to play one of those games on a different machine... you'll need to have the controller for that machine.  It's the best and easiest way to handle.

Correct.  If you want to purchase the game once and bring it all over the house on different machines... that is totally fine.  Just need the controller that is matched to the machine with the game.

If you want the game to always be on 2 different machines in the house at the same time... then you would need to purchase it again.

We haven't gotten there yet.  Still deciding.

Question:  How much was the game on Steam that you requested the refund for?

So, it's either take the controller from room to room or buy the game twice.

I mean, really.  The games are less than $10 each!! And if you're getting the FE AND VIP editions, you already have $75 to spend.  Go ahead. Splurge. Spend the extra $3 to put it on the system in your office.  You bought 3 or 4 consoles, but $3 is going to break the bank?

Yep!  Just not the same game.

Yep, totally makes sense as to why.  And I'm sure adding a "family" account would be a lot of work for very little demand.   Thanks for clarifying!
