Probably it's the kind of paint that it's better to see in real, that photo can't show the thing in all its splendor !?

It is color shifting that is why it is hard to get a true sense of the color. More straight on it is blueish and on the edges purple. Not a fan of that picture, here is the other shot and xBox controller with a similar paint scheme

Tommy Quick question about the LEDs on the console:

I believe you mentioned that they do server a purpose a few hundred pages back on this forum. For some reason I cannot remember if you ever said what that was. Can you elaborate? Or will this be a reveal later on?

Yeh, more a fan of this one... Really is purple... the other one looks more blue so far... and that makes me sad... and blue.  hahaha

Here is what I remember Tommy saying on the subject...
- For games where there is an active player, that player's color will be shown on the console and their controller (like who's turn it is in a board or dice game).
- For a game like SafeCracker, the console might flash a pattern of colors to indicate the code or to give some hints.

- For games where you have a health meter, the color might indicate what your health level is at - perhaps even flash when you are critical.

I'm sure there are more that Tommy can chime in on but those are what I recall.

Yay, there it is! Galaxy Purple, even if it looks like Galaxy Blue + Tiny Bit of Galaxy Purple! I'm guessing it is definitely the lighting. It will probably look great in person. I might consider getting this or red to preserve my FE and keep it nice and fresh.

I foolishly missed my chance to get the galaxy 3DS and now that my 3DS is breaking down and it's no longer in production I'm in a weird situation that has little to do with Amico aside from both being galaxy colored.

Actually now that I have turned f.lux back on, it's purple for sure!

I hope it’s the lighting. This color does not look at all the same as the renders that have been shown all

along. Im not loving personally.

nor am i.  more of a fan of the rendering with the metallic silver lining. this particular silver (and purple) looks flat, dull, and uninspired. insipid.

yeh same here... the 1st purple looked fascinating and fun, different too... this new one has changed the essence for me... I feel like a Skeksis has drained the life essence from it.

The gamestop one is missing the shiny plastic chrome along the edges  and it doesn't look pearlescent anymore. 

Unfortunately I will probably be passing on this purple if it's just purple and white around the sides. May go with black now.

Now we got.idiots claiming to be @Tommy Tallarico. Smh

They're both CG renders. Not photos. They specifically set out to make it look that new way vs the original render.

tommy puts 16gb vs 32gb up to a vote but not this crappy purple vs original purple to a vote? 299.99 for that ? really hope the molds and dyes for that tooling werent that much more expensive cause whoever sold you that purple in china ripped you off.

I think the purple in the GameStop pre-order looks better than the original.  It's actually something that looks "galaxy purple."  The old one had too much pink in it for my taste.  

Maybe I'm against the grain on this one, but I think it was a change for the better.

I think the deep purple has the potential to look great if they go ahead and add the plastic chrome siding again. 

I really think that's all that's missing the more I look at it. 

The galaxy purple Amico is the Empreror Zurg edition lol.

I seem to remember Tommy mentioning something about the word chrome... not sure if it was in context of this siding or not... like it was cheap looking.  I would say yes with some color combo the chrome may chintz it down.... but maybe with the purple it enhances vs chintz down.

I didn't even notice the chrome siding until you mentioned it. I have a feeling that it's gone so as to keep all models with the same matte siding. 

I have to be honest though, at this point, I just hope it comes out in October. I'm looking at the calendar and figuring out that this "lockdown" isn't going to end as soon as originally hoped. They're still finalizing a lot of stuff for the system, plus then they have to QA test everything... Time is not our friend here, and so long as they can get functioning (and quality) units into the market, at this point color is the least of my concerns.

I am good with it too - I think the color shift will look cool in real life and appeal maybe a little better to both young boys & girls. Remember Tommy is looking at real samples with real paint and not renders so what looked good in a render may have been a train wreck in real life and so they swapped the colors up a bit.

I could also potentially see the chrome looking like a cheap plastic toy. Chrome plastic usually does.
