Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

I am good with it too - I think the color shift will look cool in real life and appeal maybe a little better to both young boys & girls. Remember Tommy is looking at real samples with real paint and not renders so what looked good in a render may have been a train wreck in real life and so they swapped the colors up a bit.

yeh if looking at real life version it just may... ultimately hopefully it sells well.  TJ

I preordered the black first edition today at media markt. Also ordered some things from the Intellivision Shop. Also saw now the complete Interview with Vara Dark. And as awesome as the last interview with her. Someone asked for Beetle Adventure Racing. A Need for Speed Classic like N64 Racer with Adventure Elements. One of the best EA Racing Games ever. Don`t think that a Amico Version of this game would be possible cuase EA wants money then and Volkswagen. The Interview before Vara Darks someone aked for Biohazard Battle from Sega which Tommy Tallerico thought it was a Resident Evil Name....

A really great Shoot em Up but like the Thunderforce games on the genesis more... And R-Type III was my favorite Shmup of the 16Bit consoles.

Uh, that is the galaxy purple in the picture...

Not sure what picture you are saying but in above posts there is the original Galaxy Purple (not sure if it has always been called Galaxy purple now that I think about it so maybe I should have called it just "purple" haha) and the newer purple as show for the system being sold at Gamestop.

So old one I like... the new one I don't... as much... haha.

The picture referenced in your quote is the one at this link: https://www.gamestop.com/video-games/arcade/products/amico-galaxy-purple-limited-edition-only-at-gamestop/11102038.html

But I see what you mean.  Some of the original pictures are a darker purple.

I think this could be removed from YouTube for being confusing to viewers.

It is technically a violation of Youtube's policies for misleading videos.

Reported the video as having misleading text for claiming to be from Tommy Tallarico, the president of Intellivision Entertainment. I HIGHLY suggest you report it too.

And don't comment on it, either. I usually have a lot of tolerance but I'm getting tired of giving these kind of people views/comments to be honest.

Yes YouTube likes activity, up votes, down votes, comments - don't do that - just report it.

hmmm, not a fan on the color on this one... but to each their own.    Now the purple ones are kickass.  This one above I feel like they ran out of color right before the thing fully printed.  Or is that just me?  The two colors don't help each other in my one good eye.  haha

TJ

I find it amazing that people are concerned about color as much as they are. I must be the oddball, as I don't really don't care much about the color, I just want it to have fun!

I actually care about both.

That is why I am willing to pay an extra $50. for the purple, which is very little considering I plan on playing my Amico for 100's of hours.

I understand as well why it would cost a little more than the FE or VIP edition because now it is a Gamestop exclusive and when you involve a middleman they have to make a little money too.

Like I said, purple is my preference color, its my money and I am happy with that and totally fine with the price.

I kinda want to not beat up my Founders edition so this will be my daily,I am playing it machine. 👍

Yeh a mix of both for me... design... color... fun.. it all envelopes for me the whole package.

If I was Amish I could be fine with just good old black and white.

haha.

And although days I wish I was Amish... I like electronics like this so bring on the fun colors.

haha

I guess I’m the “odd” one here as I got the Amish (black), and it’s probably the wrong forum to say what I think about the wood grain and/or anyone who likes it🤭

I think that this may be a case of much ado about nothing. They are probably still all renders. I'm sure that Tommy will start showing off the final versions to us prior to the public. We'll all give input and we'll end up with a few nice choices after all is said and done.  I'm hoping that eventually there will be a semi clear version so we see the electronics.

Looking forward to the next reveal.  What's next? A new feature? The System Box? Physical Media Box? Physical Media reveal?

I think discussions like these just keeps us chatting about it which is good.  Everyone is being nice and just sharing opinions.  Companies will pick and choose from comments like this to hone in on some things.  Others they will leave be.  The color has changed so we were bound to discuss it.

Just had an idea. For the people that like different color combo's and maybe more, you could go one further and create skins for the Amico. I'm sure our Photoshop buddy could create a couple of interesting ones. I'll take an Ohio State Buckeye one. Now that is a color combo even I could get excited about.

All for you ?

Two for me for sure. One for my man cave for solo game play and one for my living room for family and friend game play. Not sure if I am going to put the FE in service or not. So I may end up with 1 or 2 extra's that I hope to make a friend or family member very, very happy when they tell me they want an Amico really bad but can't find one anywhere. I plan on being a their HERO! And they will owe me forever!!!!!! 😁

Agree. I think all of the discussions are great! Didn't want to sound dismissive. Like I said, I think we'll all give our input at various stages. Tommy will weigh it. Then act on it. Even if he decides against the way that we may want it, we still get a say in the matter. I'm very happy to be a part of this. Unlike other updates to various old consoles, we are being taken along for the ride. Bumps and all! This has been fun.

Nice ! I have 2 FE on order and am thinking of keeping one unopened but not sure. I figure it might be worth a lot  to a collector and be day. Not sure if I want to keep a 400$ plus (with shipping etc and in Canadian$) console in storage though.

The thing could be in an adult Depends box, as long as the games are entertaining and the system is accessible to the audience it's after, this is just window dressing.

That said, I have a wood-grained on order for my office, a white one ordered for my parents, I'm looking forward to the pink steampunk model alluded to (I have a four year old who loooooooves pink, despite my efforts to be rainbow-androgenous, and her little sister, turning two this summer, also loves pointing at everything any hue remotely rosy and exclaiming "Pink!".  I want this system to be theirs, running from the spider in Nightstalker, playing baseball, any of the exciting Sesame Street or Disney or Nickelodeon or Mattel properties I anticipate to come, to be their little escapes, solo or with family.. so I have a little invested in the color choices just as extra appeal for them.

I can see this being a bit of a compromise color combo, but I kinda dig it.  Tommy mentioned the issue with chrome in the interview with Chris (Atari Creep) last week.  Apparently, the plastic didn't look right, the chrome application just looked cheap and it wasn't coming out like designed, so they decided on the matte/sandblasted metal look.  I think it's fine - not nearly as shiny object as the previous version, but, if they're not going out of their way to do a blue model, and the color shifts a bit with the light, like an oil slick in different light, I think it's going to be a unique enough draw to pull in some kids and people who do like the aesthetic (and aren't comparing it side-by-side with the galaxy purple we saw and many were anticipating).  It's pretty.  Kinda harkens back to those blue Techno plug 'n play Intellivision controllers of the early 2000s.  Neither blue nor purple get much love in the home console space, so, it's a standout.

And I'm curious to see how this model reacts with the LED lights on console - could make it a dark horse 4th pick-up.. but I may need to hold off till 2021.. three Amico models ought to keep me and the family busy for a bit 🙂

I wish that I had kept my Intellivision Keyboard Component in storage. ☹️
