Got the email. I really hope you guys are doing a Star Wars game because it's way too early for you to get sued. Haha.

Haha!  Heck... if Disney started suing people who use Star Wars pics as satire or parody on May the 4th... I think they'd end up owning even more of the world than they currently do!!

:)

We send all of @CurlyQ's epicness to them.  They think it's hilarious.

Yeah but the difference is most people don't have "pre-order here" on those memes. It could be argued you're using their brand to sell the Amico. I'm no lawyer but I do write for a TV show and we can't even mention a brand without getting clearance, let alone use a brand to advertise our show...

If they like it though, all good - can't argue the pics are awesome! I wouldn't mind an Amico controller R2-D2 action figure, tbh :D

I stupidly sold my Evercade and all the carts as I didn't really use it. Tempted to get the Vs and the few carts I want to play, rather than "full setting" it, haha.

That's a commonly-held belief, but I've never been convinced Activision ever owned the Imagic library outright.  We've had several discussions here about it, including this one from many years ago.

You are wrong on all counts... It was the commercial with the girl walking on the beach. The rest did happen. But it was all about that commercial. :)

TAB, what a beautiful drink

TAB, for beautiful people

TAB, you’re so beautiful to me

(while a model walks down the beach in a bikini)

LOL, nothing subliminal about the association there.

Trivia: the name was created by a random letter generator. It began as TABB.

IE has licensed Demon Attack and has rights to the entire Imagic catalog.  They're not saying who they licensed them from but did say it's not Activision.

There was a guy in that commercial? I will take your word for it ;)

you used it in direct advertising in a for profit email though, thats dicey.  I once got a cease a desist letter back in the day from Chuck Norris' lawyer for a tshirt that had on it.  WWCD?  ( back in the day of what would jesus do stuff)  No pictures of him , nothing.  Just a what would chuck do?  i made the mistake of saying in the description ,  SO what would chuck norris do.  That one little mention in the details was enough to get noticed a  cease a desist letter and a follow up demanding all proceeds form the shirt being sent to them. It wasnt a big deal since the shirt just went on sale, so I sent them like $12.99 dollar check to be a douche knowing they werent going to follow up.  But it goes without saying, these companies and their lawyers do not mess around when it comes to their IP.

Tell us @CurlyQ!  What was the reason you added TAB in the pic??

The can of TAB reference pays homage to my mother and sister. They both drank TAB by the GALLON. Complete and utter TABAHOLICS!

For those that don't know TAB is a highly sought after commodity ever since Coca-Cola decided to stop producing it, citing declining interest and lacklustre sales.

Personally I think TAB tastes like dirty dish water. I never liked it. I do however enjoy a couple of Diet Cokes here and there. Go figure.

TAB is also a shout-out to DJC Game Studios brand of unusual and peculiar off-the-cuff YouTube videos. This guy is one wacky dude! (in a good way). If he could legally get married to a can of TAB, he probably would.

The image also references Papa Pete The Old Ass Gamer and RxScram but they are less obvious than the can of TAB.

@Tommy Tallarico I have a fun few questions for you. Both are about the same. Just a different angle:

1)Regardless of sales figures and publishers. Are there any games that you personally want to, or trying to get the rights to, bring out on the Amico that you have not mentioned yet?

2)Along those same lines - Are there games that you want,  that are already in development that you have not told us about?

We know you want ET/Pitfall/Tron. ETC.

I'm not asking for names. Just wanted to know if there are any in either category that you have not mentioned..... YET.

Tommy, I see you have one of the guys from The Bitmap Brothers doing a game on the Amico, is there any chance of them doing Xenon 3 exclusively for the Amico? 😀👍

I’m wondering about the article written by IGN Middle East  talking about non responsive controllers. Is this true ? It does sound weird to send controllers without updated firmware. Any comments about this article ? Is it a concern ?

Just thought this was interesting: despite some wanting to instigate some sort of 'lag gate' out of the ME IGN article (ridiculous for a game & console that hasn't even shipped yet), the actual article author - who had hands on time with the console (not just someone making sh*t up) - responded on twitter. No lag on the disc input, he did find some screen lag on his dev unit. Note none of us felt at the Frisco event so it was either resolved or was a bug in the specific console firmware release he was using. I have said it before and I will say it again, if Intellivision is stupid enough to *ship* the system with laggy controls they deserve criticism. Trying to project something out of a *beta* system onto the shipping console, just shows you know nothing about the development of software or technology.

I write software for a living (business not gaming) and I literally have to put together working versions in order to demo things to clients (I actually have one of those coming up next week). There are many days my main project won't even compile. As you write software you often break things or introduce new bugs, so you have to reach these plateau points of stability, and even more specifically of the feature you are demonstrating (the rest may be buggy as hell). You basically build up these islands of stability until they finally link into a stable finished product. Until then, good luck anytime you show demo software. You notice how Sony and M$ often just show canned demos of games and it isn't until the last stages that even gaming journalist get there hands on the game (and even then they are typically warned that is beta and it still might crash). It is literally like herding cats, with you having to get all of the elements to come together to finally form the finished product.

Thats why I mentioned earlier that these hardware/covid delays can be a blessing in disguise as they allow you time to flesh out your software.
