Tommy,

In the interview you did yesterday with PTCGamingShow, I noticed you had a shirt with "OOF" on it.  We need that in the IE shop.

I could make that happen.   :)

In regards to the controller... many people have played it and says it works great and there is no noticeable lag during gameplay.  The only folks who claim the controllers don't work and are laggy during gameplay are a couple of people who have never played it and declare publicly that they hate me and want to see me and the product destroyed.

Couldn't you just upload some video showing there's no lag?  Or is there some kind of NDA/Legal Paperwork stopping you from doing this?  Seems like a pretty simple rebellion to put down.

This; I feel like something that shows, "See what we mean?" would be very helpful in this ongoing argument.

This unit is coming out in five months. I wouldn’t start bending over backwards to pacify trolls now after two years of this type of thing. There’s always gonna be something and it’s not the kind of road IE should start down.

Here let me anticipate the responses:

  • How do we know that video wasn't EDITED!
  • Sure maybe THAT game, what about the rest?
  • I bet it was really running on that CAPTURE BOX (or LAPTOP) shown in the video
  • Looks like they FIXED the issue, but it WAS defiantly a problem (i.e. were weren't lying)
  • Glad they finally got their FLASH GAME to run on that crapbox

Oh, and did I mention I made NONE of these up -  they are real (although paraphrased) responses to earlier game play videos.

My advice: Tommy don't waste your time on these goal post moving, lying bags of hate and denial.

The problem is that Intellivision Entertainment has already made the choice to start down that road.  The moment they responded to the criticism in anyway whatsoever is the moment they gave credibility to the claims.  And it's pretty easy to prove the claims wrong and only one side can actually do that.

No its not - the goal post will ALWAYS be moved, a new 'issue' will ALWAYS arise. The people voicing this stuff don't have legitimate concerns, they are simply trying desperately to do whatever (and trust me, lying is fine for them) to spread their agenda. How do I know? Because I have personally booted people off of a subreddit Reddit for being caught lying about 'insider information' and other totally made up stuff.

I have played 4 games on the Amico and experienced no lag in *any* of them. There were 11 games on that system and nobody who actually played the games had any issues, even though it was clear that some of the games weren't totally finished. That was enough to satisfy me and I have *3* Amicos on order. Don't you think I would be p*ssed if I though there were going to be crap - that is a lot of money out of my pocket on the line?

That is the difference between the people who have played it vs the people who simply are desperately trying to build an agenda about this BETA, UNRELEASED console. I can guarantee you that not all of the games being developed on the Amico run perfectly, don't crash, run as fast as they should, etc. That is because again they are BETA and UNRELEASED. It is totally pointless to talk about an UNRELEASED game's performance, that is why most company show you NOTHING about a game except for some canned video or a few screen shots before it is released. Tommy has decided to take us all on a ride in launching the Amico and that includes showing games with unfinished graphics, clunky gameplay sections and so on. I just want him to concentrate on SHIPPING a quality product, all of this is just noise and is pointless until the games are released.

That's my attitude as well.  The type of people you're referring to are people who feed off of negative energy and attention, so I recommend that everyone refrain from giving it to them.  To respond to them in any way will only encourage them, and there's no reason to do so because they've already amply demonstrated that they're not genuinely interested in discussion or open to persuasion.  (Or, to put it more aphoristically, "don't feed the trolls.")

(And to anyone reading this: if the foregoing description does not apply to you, there's no reason for you to be upset by it and you may safely ignore it.)

You forgot one, "That's rendered!", and don't call me a bag of any kind.  Or any one else for that matter. ;)

You are correct on both points, and subject officially dropped.

Well, I'd still like to hear an official reason as to why showing gameplay without lag is a problem.  We've seen gameplay with lag, so it'd be nice to see some without.

Interesting Tweet exchange from the developers of Finnigan Fox and Tommy (referring to the 8 screen shots posted here and on Twitter):

There's no such thing as no lag, every system has input lag.  How much lag is acceptable to you?  People have posted videos playing Amico, with the TV and controller in the same picture.  Have a look at the Texas event videos, SmashJT office visit video. Once it's released, there will be people that will measure it precisely like they do every other system.

I don't think it is unreasonable to assume that no one is talking in absolutes.  Obviously, when I say "no lag", I mean lag that isn't perceivable enough to be distracting (or "disorientating", not my quote) from the gameplay.

We already know the system lags at least a year behind.

Setting the TV to "game mode" can reduce that to just 8 months.
