I don't think it is unreasonable to assume that no one is talking in absolutes.  Obviously, when I say "no lag", I mean lag that isn't perceivable enough to be distracting (or "disorientating", not my quote) from the gameplay.

We already know the system lags at least a year behind.

No perceivable lag is what people that have played it are saying; and that includes an IGN writer.  Have a look at the videos I mentioned.  I assumed you were looking for a precise measurement in milliseconds

The same IGN writer who originally described the lag as "disorientating".  So, take that as you wish.

I am really looking forward to additional mainstream media doing some hands on with the system.

@Toobin , your mental gymnastics are almost as complicated as maneuvering the rapids in your favorite game.

Is that the word he used.  He was talking about the touchscreen display on the controller.  He had a video attached to the article showing it.  When asked to clarify on twitter about gameplay on the TV, he said "no lag".

According to a quote from the original, now-edited article that was posted and translated on the official Amico subreddit, yes.

But due to the resistive touchscreen used in the controllers, I didn't feel it was fully responsive to touch and suffered from lags that disoriented you in the game.

Now, I don't have a link to the original, unedited article, not do I speak the language it appears to have been translated from.

He specifically talks about the touchscreen in the article. The article video demonstrates the issue, navigating the touchscreen display selecting the colour of his fish. That's not gameplay. With the three games mentioned in the article, Shark, Shark, Astrosmash, Moon Patrol, your character is controlled with the disc.  So if he feels disoriented it should be due to the disc. That's why he was asked about the disc on twitter and responded "no lag".

Am I supposed to go by what the IGN guy said or not?

Happy to watch video specifically highlighting the lag or lack of.  More than happy to visit the offices and play it myself.

Even happier to play the one I ordered nearly 18 months ago.

Alas, none of this matters too much, as these are not final systems. The proof will be in the future, when they can be released. The release has been delayed, and may be delayed again.

The fact that you ordered 18 months ago also really has no bearing, but may be a factor for a decision to cancel your order. I understand your frustration, as I have one ordered for my parents. My dad likes beanbag (cornhole), and has terminal bone cancer. I want to be able to play while he still can, and the clock is ticking. None of this can influence the timetable, whether it is supply chain, or just more development needed.

Demanding measurements on development units isn’t going to deliver anything. May satisfy the fact finders inside of us, but really is just a side pursuit. IMO, best to just decide if you can hang on for the rest of the bumps, or jump off, cancel and pursue something different. You can always circle back once it is released.

Who is demanding measurements?  I haven't seen anyone ask for that.  A few quality videos is all I'm asking for.

You are correct, the lag (or lack of) isn't a huge deal.  The official and compensated fan reaction to questions about the lag, however, is a concern.  I'd rather IE be honest about what's going on than mislead and misdirect.  For example, if they know it is highly unlikely to meet the 10/10 release, then announce it asap.  Don't wait.

Why does anyone want to watch a video of a car with 3.75 wheels?  Just to complain it doesn't have 4 wheels?  Or drool about how cool it runs without having a full set of tires?

People need to prove things in court.  I am working on a Big Brother style mechanism in RL at the moment, I can tell you it will work, but I can't prove it, because it isn't done yet.

EDIT: In fact, I can almost 100% guarantee that some people from AA will have their entire XBL/PSN credentials run through code I have written.  Can't prove it though.

All this going around in circles about lag or no lag is pointless at the moment as the console isn't 100% complete yet.  To demand to see something work efficiently that isn't fully complete is nothing short of foolish.  Here's a little advice; why not wait until the Amico is finished, then judge the finished product?  After all, that's what you are looking to buy.  If you are nervous because you pre-ordered something that wasn't finished yet, then that's on you.  Nobody made you pre-order it.  Most of us here want the Amico to succeed and meet our expectations so it will provide fun and entertainment for years to come.  Those who want to troll forums like this and go back and forth demanding something that can't be delivered at this time is a waste of everyone's time.  I think it's time to chill and continue to wait for the Amico to be finished so we can all decide if it's right for us individually.  What one person may like, another may not and that's ok.  Now is not the time to get one's panties in a twist! 😉

Couldn't you just upload some video showing there's no lag?  Or is there some kind of NDA/Legal Paperwork stopping you from doing this?  Seems like a pretty simple rebellion to put down.

Hi,

Thank you for joining in the discussion.  I'm glad that Amico has interested you enough to find out more info.

Dozens of people who played it said there is no perceivable lag in gameplay (and they were specifically looking for it).

I would suggest not to believe people who have not played it and are constantly caught lying (in hopes of destroying Intellivision).  And I hope you understand where those folks are really coming from and what their motivation is.

There are many videos out there at this point from people who have played it and specifically mentioned zero perceivable lag.

But considering you seem very passionate on getting more proof, I do have a question...

Do you believe that the dozens of people who have played Amico are all lying?

A simple yes or no will do.

If you'd like to see a "proof" video, I could show you a couple where these obsessed hater trolls are consistently caught lying.  People who make lag videos and publicly declare that he HATES me and then a few days later denies that he ever said it.  Someone who proudly and publicly declares that anyone who follows me or believes what I say should be canceled and ostracized from the retro gaming community FOREVER and is an ENEMY!  Then makes a video a few days later denying he ever said that as well.  Let me know if you'd like to see that "proof" video.

Thanks.

This unit is coming out in five months. I wouldn’t start bending over backwards to pacify trolls now after two years of this type of thing. There’s always gonna be something and it’s not the kind of road IE should start down.

PREACH!

Here let me anticipate the responses:

  • How do we know that video wasn't EDITED!
  • Sure maybe THAT game, what about the rest?
  • I bet it was really running on that CAPTURE BOX (or LAPTOP) shown in the video
  • Looks like they FIXED the issue, but it WAS defiantly a problem (i.e. were weren't lying)
  • Glad they finally got their FLASH GAME to run on that crapbox

Oh, and did I mention I made NONE of these up -  they are real (although paraphrased) responses to earlier game play videos.

My advice: Tommy don't waste your time on these goal post moving, lying bags of hate and denial.

Glad someone said it.

:)

I have played 4 games on the Amico and experienced no lag in *any* of them. There were 11 games on that system and nobody who actually played the games had any issues,

Again, in order for anyone to believe this "lag" narrative, you must also believe that dozens of people are purposely lying.
