Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Pretty off topic but James Marsden just gave Intellivision a little mention during a Sonic the Hedgehog Movie press event. Even more of an aside but from the early reviews it looks like it might be one of those 70% fresh, pretty good for a game adaptation movie - especially for Sonic fans because you get a lot of nods & throw backs. Kudos to all involved for pulling this one out of the dumpster from that first trailer.

I tried to drink the Kool-Aid on my original Intellivision.  Sometimes I was successful, sometimes I was not.  Making Kool-Aid in a haunted house wasn't the easiest thing for a little kid to do.  Still, I played this way more times than I probably should have.  I can't wait to see what weird, new experiences I'll get to play on Amico.  Maybe I'll get to drink the 7-Up?  (Cool Spot sequel?)

I'm not a huge fan of the pixel graphic look for Amico (don't want people to get the wrong impression about what we are)... but we've worked with similar type graphical projects and had them redo the art to make it feel more modern. 

I'm not against pixel art in general.  I'm just against putting out pixel art type stuff for the first round of games on Amico as I don't want folks to think it's a "retro" style console.

 

 

I'm with you on this one. I think the overabundance of indie pixelart games is kind of suffocating lately.

Also, Stardew valley is based on a lot of time sensitive goals. It doesn't really have the relaxed "no work" feel of Animal Crossing.

I hate the fake retro look and forced pixelation with a 1,000,000 color palette and 100 frames per second of many indie games.

This include dozens of 2D metroidvanias, all these "this is how [insert last gen game here] would look on the PS1" 3D experiments and the new PS1 style horror games.

In my opinion, all of these games and demos should have used real hardware limitations. They should have been programmed first for an old system of choice, even if it's the Neo Geo, and then ported to modern platforms with a real retro look and not just a cheap imitation. 😇

Videos like this just show how successful Amico will be.  When we're inside peoples heads this much... you know there are big things on the horizon!

These guys are just ignorant haters, They dont appreciate or know the history of video games and to be honest just resort to the laziest retort, which is to simply troll and hate things they dont know. I simply dont understand the whole phenomenon of hating new knowledge, but I wouldnt let it bother you in the least,  I feel sorry for them actually.   Hell people hate board games, call them stupid, but they are super popular again.  Vinyl LP's some people dont understand them and hate on them, again they are once again becoming super popular.  My town actually has 2 record stores again.  Its amazing.  here is the thing. The world is currently a shit show so many of us want to go back to a more safe positive time and those times have us reaching for Vinyl music, board games and retro gaming among other things.  

I said it once and I say it again. Intellivision amico is the right product, at the right time, made by the right people.   Its gonna be popular among many demographics, but likely not among the 20s something haters who unfortunately dont have a safe time to reflect back on and try to relive.

Sorry... I should have clarified.  I was talking about the Amico remakes. 

Getting all of the original Intellivision Imagic games in one pack for like $8 or something would be very easy to do.  I'd just want to wait until after the console is out and established so that we're not confusing the marketplace as to what we are.  Hopefully by summer of 2021 we could start releasing a bunch of original stuff like that.

The reason I posted the video here is I just wanted people to remember what the extreme hater folks are like on the "other side" of the screen.

We have a very different kind of simple menu screen that I think a lot of people will find fun and enjoy.

Actually I meant the multiple copies and "editions" of the same game. I don't need the "Super Atomic Nuclear Meltdown Premium Lick Your Ass Edition" for only $20 more. That should've all been included with the first edition.

I would rather those games still be built upon a modern engine, rather than plagiarizing some emulator the devs found in Retroarch. Otherwise, I see what you mean,

Yeah!!!  What you said!!  None of that multiple versions of the game for money crap either!!  I HATE that!!  I had NO IDEA which version of Red Dead II or Formula One 2019 I should buy. 

Yet another common industry thing publishers are trying to do to suck money out of folks.

You won't see any of that crap on Amico.  Physical versions will be more money... but will still be the same game (but physical will be epic and collectable for other reasons).
