Tommy,

Is it possible we might get SwordQuest: Airworld for Amico or something close to it? This game was planned but never released.

Just stop it.

Already the end of this commemorative day for me. (One year since I subscribe to AtariAge and that I am following everything about Amico)

So I decided that I wanted to play Night Stalker, and try my best at Astrosmash. ( I am always playing 30 minutes and stop when I have 70 extra lives waiting ... )

So here my results (That you can try to beat this week if you want ! :) )

Night Stalker : 76 400    ( I think I can do better. It's really the first time that I try my best, but I made some errors ... Never played in the 80's)

Astrosmash : 398 845   (Really hard when entering 300 000. I think it's a good score.)

It was fun. I don't remember any game like Astrosmash that you can earn so many extra life, and that you can die 5 times in 10 seconds !  lol

Very impatient to get my hands on these two games on Amico!

My daughter (10 yrs old) and I spent a couple of hours playing Atari 2600 carts last week.  Freeway was probably the biggest hit since because of it's simplicity and head-to-head nature.

OMG!!! I was in that area ALOT back in the day with David Shaw, remember him? Hung over his place listening to Ozzy and Zeppelin and playing tons of 2600 games. Played alot of Donkey Kong arcade in a pizza place in that intersection near the old H.O.T. building. I had no idea that area was your neighborhood.

Yep!  That was the ole' stomping grounds!!

Yeah... I was in the same class K thru 8 with David Shaw!  I believe he went to Cathedral High as well for the first few years.

You can see David in our 8th grade class pic for 1982!  He's in the first row on the very far right.

Me & my friend Aron are in the middle.  We were big Godfather fans so we thought it would be funny if we made gun signs with our hands (because it was a Catholic School).  Hilarious back then... probably get expelled these days!

Yes... I was the shortest back then too.  :)   Imagine that I started High School 3 months later!!!  In my freshman year everyone thought I was lost and in the wrong school.   Hahhahaa!

Within a few weeks I had the entire Varsity Football team protecting me and they would let me eat with them at their table at lunch.  A freshman at a seniors table?!?!  Unheard of!  :)

No on would dare pick on me.  I was the king shit!!   :D

Damn, I don't Facebook. Can you find me on that class picture? See picture's below.

I was in the same class as you from 4 thru 8.  I remember buying a "2,000" year old  egyptian coin from you in 5th grade!!! Maybe it wasn't a sale, maybe a silent action.

About 20 years ago I mailed a picture i took of the 3 of you on the steps of OLSH from back in the day. I thought I keep a copy! Damn I've been ripping the house apart trying to find it! David

is giving you "bunny ears" in it! And Aron C. is standing on the other side of you. I meet up with you very briefly at you Video Games Live @ Springfield,Ma about 4 years ago maybe.

Hopfully this rings some bells! If your every in the area please PM me here! I'd love to buy you a "Friendly's" treat!

Rick

Possibly, but it's not something we'll support right away. We're already pushing the limits for the number of connections and the amount of data we can push through a single bluetooth host. Perhaps a future firmware update will add support, but we'll probably be busy adding cool new accessories instead!

Do the controllers support WiFi Direct? If so, perhaps use BT for IP discovery, and then push large blobs over TCP, while keeping low latency data over the BT channel?

Do we need to ask about Activision games when we know they won't license to Intellivision?

There is no other mech game that compares to that one. THIS is the game to be remade. It's that good. And the music is some of the best created for the Genesis.👍

There's a reason why MUSHA cartridges go without a box for over $300 on eBay.

Musha Aleste is cheaper. It also works with the XE-1AP controller! Nobody knows there was a controller for Sega hardware that had analog sticks and shoulder buttons before Nintendo, but there was. It's also pretty expensive now. They cost like 9000 yen. I need to go buy one eventually.

I got mine new in 1991. But good advice on those that missed out.

Musha Aleste or the XE-1AP? I still need to get both, actually...

Won't? They are pretty clearly "open for business". Who knows if the terms make sense though!

Probably not.  No reason spending resources/budget on hardcore gamers at this point.  Can think of a LOT better ways to spend our money (Keighley charges companies to be a part of it).  If he was willing to give us something for free, I'd probably do it... but as we all know... not really our initial target audience for marketing/advertising spend at this point.

Cool idea though.  I hope it does well.

Understandable. Still looking forward to whatever you decide to replace your planned E3 and Gamescom appearances with.

American MUSHA. Published by Seismic. Same game, designed by Compile. Game #2 in the Aleste series.

American names for #1 & #3 are Blazing Lasers for TG-16 & Space Megaforce for SNES.

Not until Amico proves it's successful. Tommy has said that when talking about them and Electronic Arts, so I'd say the same thing about Hard Hat Mack and Axis Assassin.

I think I would just leave it on the charging pad. Would that burn out the battery ?

I know Tommy answered above but I also remember several pages ago @RxScram mentioned there are multiple overcharge prevention chips which almost assuredly means one is built directly into the battery (always a good sign they are using a better grade of battery because the manufacturer is adding a bit more circuitry to keep it reliable) and a charging circuit on the circuit board of the controller. It is kind of a belts and suspenders system to protect the battery - even if the main charge controller fails and tries to overcharge the battery, the battery itself has a fallback unit to prevent overcharging.

Aleste is on the Master System and the MSX and I know Aleste 2 is on the MSX as well. Now that I have an MSX2+, both of those are playable for me. Blazing Lazers is Gunhed, though, since that was based on a Japanese movie called Gunhed which I have never seen. Gunhed is expensive, by the way. I think Space Megaforce is Super Aleste or something like that. I think I have it on my SD2SNES Pro, but it's been a while and I am not really a SFC/SNES type of dude. Anyway, the whole thing is confusing as hell. Eventually I'll get around to playing them all.

Anyway, you are missing out on the XE-1AP! You have to get it so you can play the like 5 games that support it with analog control! The only other game that I know of that supports it is After Burner II, though.

Why would I need an analog controller when this still works?

SMS & MSX games were never released in the US, so I didn't know. There was a Game Gear version of MUHSA called GG Aleste as well, but only for Japan. Gunhed, now I remember. I assumed it was in the Aleste series because some Blazing Lasers' weapons are repeated in Space Megaforce. Maybe the name was changed by Hudson Soft as a tie in to the film.

I didn't pay attention to the series during the Saturn/Playstation era. All I know is that Aleste was a long running series of shooter games made by Compile until they closed business & I read in a magazine that MUSHA was the 2nd in the series.

The XE-1AP gives you full analog control in games that support it, just like you'd get on a modern controller, for example. The arcade stick just gives you 8-way digital movement.

After some research, 32X Space Harrier and After Burner Complete are compatible with the XE-1AP, so you'd get the ability to play them in a manner that is basically similar to how they are in the arcade, which is pretty awesome. Not the same since both of those use an actual joystick, but close enough.

The MSX was like the NES/Famicom integrated computer system. It should have been the Coleco ADAM. Strange how it never made it to the States.

Hi Tommy,

Any chance Amico will work with BT headphones/airpods?

May save a marriage or two for units put in the bedroom; what could be more family friendly than that?

Not sure if it has been mentioned.  I have found that the only reason I would want to connect directly to the console for sound was the need to have mic support in chat while playing online.  Seeing that the Amico wont have this right away and all you are looking for is to get audio. Then I would use the external audio port on the tv. Most tvs have a port 3.5mm but you might find a bluetooth external unit to tap into the port then connect your air buds to that device.

Sounds cool. But it's not necessary on vertical shooters.
