It would be cool to have the original Battlestar Galactica on Amico.  With space ship combat blasting the Cylons raiders.  And have ground combat where you run around shooting Cylons.

I second this, and with the reboot in work for the Peacock streaming service, there would be some benefits to both parties (and a lot of benefit to BSG fans, me being one of them).

Tommy,

When the controllers are running low on battery, is there a warning notification?  Does the notification appear on the controller screen?  Or perhaps the console/controller lights flash a certain color meaning the battery is low.

I understand that and I have no problem with the fun simple gameplay, I just dont agree with using 1980 graphic art design in a 2020 game.  I just personally dont like that art direction at all in this game.  I would of preferred something with some real art design along the lines of the game below

I totally respect and understand your position.  Art is like music... it's very subjective.

If you like dungeon crawlers though... I'm hoping you'll give it a try at some point and hopefully the fun factor will surpass the art style for you.

Also wanted to note... I would consider the art about 50% completed at this point... but the general "style" won't be changing that much.  So you may like the final art a little more upon completion.  But if not... I would totally understand.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.  I recognize that not every game is going to be for everyone.  Especially the art!

:)

  • Cabal
  • Dynamite Duke
  • Hang On (motorcycle game)
  • Ikari Warriors

  • Rampage

Maybe someday.  None of those are currently planned.

I will buy every single game and buy all launch titles on day 1 to support the console and because even the games that I might not purchase normally If they were on another console might be very fun with couch coop, leaderboards etc added, and I want to check them all out. For the moment I only buy the occasional switch game so I can afford to buy it all !!!! I’ll take my FE , the bag , 6 extra controllers and all of the launch games on day 1 😜

I like the way you're thinking!!

:)

Seriously though... I really appreciate your support!!!!!!!!!

I do think you have a valid point.  Couch co-op can be fun... even if it is a genre you may not particularly be fond of initially.  Who knows... maybe you'll even enjoy baking cookies with a furry creature.

:D

Tommy,

Would this game possibly come to Amico or something similar?  It's kind of like Zaxxon.  It's an arcade game for the Neo Geo.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viewpoint_(video_game)

Viewpoint is a very fun.. But sometimes frustratingly hard game. I think of it like an 2.5D R-Type. I had it on the AES. Thumbs up for me.

One of @OEB_Pete videos someone mentioned Sinistar... I also think it may have been brought up several hundred pages ago. Maybe even by me. But just to put it back in everyone's minds. Yes. This is another one that needs to be on the Amico.

I thought this was interesting.  I agree, games should be shorter.  Who has time to devote 1,000 hours to a game?  Lol.

With games on Amico, you just jump in and jump out.  Nothing like short and sweet.

They are still talking about 15 hour games.  I know people are accustomed to hours of content, finishing them like a book and on to the next one.  I think playtime should be two or three hours max for the more hard core games.  Videogames should be designed with replayability rather than content.  When you buy a board game, you don't think about how many hours of content you get; you're thinking is this a game I'll play again and again and again.

Here's the article they are talking about.

Coop and vs modes and especially quality LOCAL leaderboards make all the difference !!!! I’ll try any type of game with these features. I know every game that gets released will be “Amicofied” 😝 gimme ! 😜

Exactly my thoughts ! I prefer shorter games that  I will play again and again. Multiplayer , coop , vs , chasing high scores etc .....I’m past the 30,50,100 hour+ of gameplay. Pick up and play type games is where I’m at 😊

I am also wondering if the dual pack of controllers that have been talked about will come with a charging station. Maybe one pack with a charging station and one without ?

Battlezone would be a nice license to have but it belongs to Activision.  I could see a multiplayer Battlezone with one player driving the tank and another operating the turret but how would you do a multiplayer Out Run?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_mobile_games

I came across this list, and it really shined a light on something Tommy talks about quite a bit.  I think we get stuck in our own little bubbles or our own views of the world. Tommy says the focus testing says this, or the data tells us that...  Critics make videos or post endless comments about "mobile graphics" and that nobody wants that. The numbers in the list of highest grossing mobile games seems to indicate differently.

Clash of Clans has grossed more than $6.4 billion.  That's billion, with a "b".  But who plays Clash of Clans? I don't. Nobody I know plays it. I don't see people on Twitter or comment sections hyping it up, but yet it has grossed more than Grand Theft Auto V (which has recently claimed title the "most valuable entertainment product" of all time). Tommy's favorite mobile game, Roblox, has brought in over $1.5 billion. Compare those numbers to console/PC games. Compare them to blockbuster movies.

Perhaps IE is on to something by trying to tap into this market that so many people think doesn't exist.

Question for @Tommy Tallarico: Is there someone at Intellivision that collaborates to the Intellivision Amico page on Wikipedia?
Is the game list on there any reliable?

The reason I ask is I'm trying to plan a budget for 10/10/2020 ...

On my part I need those two kind of games.  Those short and sweet like Shark Shark, Ski Cross, Auto Racing and Missile Command.

But I also want to advance in some games, like Moon Patrol, Cloudy Mountain, etc.

Probably we will also have games that will satisfy both types of games.

A game like Night Stalker will probably have kind of a story mode, and also quick arcade play that you are choosing which level you want to play with or against friends.

So lets say between 3 and 7 hours could be good.

But one thing is sure, I don't have enough free time for a 50 hours + for one game ! 😬

Believe these are really more like two totally different genres (and demographics).

Amico/mobile (and earlier video games) have replayability by their nature; simpler game play and will use cards or a board game as an analogy.  Many of the games today are more story based with much lower realized replayability, more like a movie (as an analogy), and how often do you rewatch a movie in any given year (and thats only a 2 hour commitment)?

Now add in the demographic aspect where people (myself NOT included) are burning out on movie series like Star Wars, Transformers, Avengers, etc. I personally don't get this..., I mean its only a movie or maybe 2 a year.

I don’t really think the two types of games (Amico/mobile vs. the other end of the spectrum) are very related, and as further evidence, just take a look at the difference between the targeted demographics between the two.  Sure there is bleed over and there are new parents that are hard core (but their game time will wane) and other hard core gammers that will appreciate Amico.  just as many Amico kids will may also be hard core gammers, but as a whole think these are two different groups of people (i.e., 300 million vs. 2 Billion).
