Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Well that's strange.  I wonder what folks on Reddit are saying??

🤣🤣🤣

Intellivision always had the Children's Learning network, so learning games were always meant to be a part of the Intellivision experience (and Tutorvision was intended for learning as well). It also helped sell the machine to parents who didn't just want their kids to "play games" on it. I wonder if, in the future (after launch) the Amico will have any language-learning games. Dora the Explorer-type games come to mind. Too bad the keyboard component never made it to market. We'd all be speaking conversational French pretty well by now! Wouldn't it be great if we could learn another language like Italian or Spanish with our Amico?

Also I was wondering if there would be any opportunity for us hobbyists to do any homebrew on the system. You've already seen what people are doing with IntyBasic for the original Intellivision, and I'm thinking something similar for the Amico. People could code up a game and share gameplay videos on youtube, or if it's possible, other users could try games out on their Amico. It might also be a good way to discover talented game programmers around the world.

While on the subject of late 70s/early 80's movies - I wold love to see an Every Which way But Loose and Any which Way You Can set of games. I can picture - Philo getting away from a Biker gang.. Having to fight in parking lots to get money. Searching for a certain person. Side quests involving Clyde. Country Music.  I'm about 30% serious on this.. After thinking about it while typing this out,  It would be a fun adventure/beat-em up.

Of course you could get a number of Clint Eastwood games from movies, with a partnership..  I'll let you use your imagination for the others. :)

I’d vote for Speed Racer.  Mystery, racing, gadgets, allies and enemies and a story; heck even the art style isn't that far off from some of the games presented.

Tommy,

I know not every Amico game will get a physical version.  But for those that do, will there be an exclusive feature such as a bonus level?

No.  It's the same exact game... but with some "added physical bonuses".

:)

Tommy,

For those of us who pre-ordered the FE, will we get early access to the Amico game shop?

That is the current plan, but I can't make any promises at this point.

We are definitely thinking about both of your ideas internally!

I think they are both GREAT.

Nothing we can do for launch... but DEFINITELY something I would LOVE to see in the future!!!

Tommy,

Since you're an Aquarius, there should be an Intellivision Amico Aquarius edition.

Already exists!

Stone is amethyst.  Amethyst is purple.

BOOM!

:)

Tommy,

I think you mentioned that some physical Amico games will be sold on the IE shop.  Is there any chance you could sign the ones from the IE shop?

That might be tough to do logistically as we don't make them in our offices and never really see them before they get to the shops or mailed out.

Of the non launch titles, in the "yes we're definitely doing it" category, Utopia is probably at the top of my list. I've been waiting for a Utopia 2 for the Inty for years. An updated version on the Amico will be very welcome news.

I'm with you 100%!!!

Gotta do that one right.  Don't want to change much though!

The ability to have 4 players/islands though would be absolutely EPIC!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I really like Victor. What a gentleman.

So Tommy is saying that we should have 35 games at launch. We saw 30 games in the last gameplay trailer (if they are all ready).

So, what could be the 5 other games that we should have for launch ? I really don't know. Here are some guesses !

Box cover for Safecracker on the Mattel Intellivision.15 Best Atari 2600 Games Of All Timeimage.jpeg.d0f228a889f08dc0e22e5203145d3c66.jpegimage.png.2d6f21fe3053b0a2b1a7ba5e8f306a89.pngFrogger | Mattel Intellivision

So what's your guesses ?

None of those are correct for launch.  (sorry!)

There will be multiple Sesame Street packs for launch... and yes... a few of them are "surprises" that I don't want to say just yet.

:)

This is a good to hear. As a huge Utopia fan of course I want it here yesterday, but done right is way more important than quickly. I know it doesn't get the fandom of some other Intv games. It was two player only, and of course strategy games are a niche of overall gaming, but as one of the original sim/god games it deserves some love & attention after all these years.
