Actually, you could do single player to achieve a high score and ignore the other island.  This is according to Wikipedia.

True or you could be crazy and attempt to play as both players at once (I did) but there was no AI so without that second person it really wasn't the same game

Well, hopefully the re-imagined version has AI.  I like single player.

None of those are correct for launch.  (sorry!)

There will be multiple Sesame Street packs for launch... and yes... a few of them are "surprises" that I don't want to say just yet.

For those who like to follow articles about the Amico:

Intellivision Amico Update: Everything We Know So Far

I typically forget, then get really excited when I see it listed again, but I can’t wait for Miner 2049er. Such fond memories of that one way back. One of the relatively few games that was ported to just about every U.S. system.

How do all these websites keep getting the special edition pricing wrong?

Thanks. Nice read and they either know something about Tron and let the cat out of the bag, or they caught it wrong.

Also found it interesting that there are 12 lights around the disc. Wondering if these lights will be utilized to reference (or set) a clock.

I think I’ve learned to take articles like this with a grain of salt. Just happy to see the coverage.

In my time in the media, sometimes a press release would sit for a long time before we got to it. For them, if they didn't check to see what the latest info was, they could simply be working off old info that was, at one time, correct.

I imagine if the mistake is important enough to fix, someone from Intellivision will reach out if tons of fans haven’t done so already.

The interview I just watched with Tommy had one purpose that I hadn’t heard before... showing the battery charge level of the controller. (Tommy can correct me if I got that wrong.)

I appreciate the coverage.

I understand how it could be confusing to folks because of the $299 for Galaxy Purple at GameStop (which includes a $25 Amico Game Shop card, when included, actually drops the price below our MSRP of $279 to $274!).

The one thing I was bummed they got wrong was this line...

"the Amico was slated for a 10/10/2020 release; a date that sadly came and went recently without so much as playable prototypes available"

That's not at all accurate.  We had playable prototypes since summer of 2019. Almost a year and a half ago!  Played by multiple people in the press.

We've also been showing working prototypes in multiple videos since early this year.

But again... I'm appreciative of the article and coverage so no complaints here.

No cat out of the bag.  We're still working on it.  I've mentioned a bunch of times that we would be remaking Tron Deadly Discs.  So I can see where someone could assume we're definitely getting it.

And I hope they would be right!!

:)

8 lights around the disc.  12 total in each controller.  The other 4 are for the 4 buttons.

:)

As an European who's not a fan of baseball, one of the most interesting things from that game for me will be how the console handles realistic 3D models of the players on the field.

I'm pretty sure Tommy said the Amico graphics will be slighly worse than the PS3/Xbox 360. Considering that the PS2 had some pretty amazing sports game that looked great with all the right animations, there shouldn't be any major technical problems that would cause those 3D players to look too bad compared too the other consoles.

Programming a 3D game is much easier today than it was 20 years go, but still I wonder if the decision to use realistic players in that game (the only one I can think of for the Amico that goes this route) will prove to be correct.

Tommy,

What about a mystery detective type game on Amico?  Like Sherlock Holmes or Inspector Gadget?

Both would be great because of the hidden information for Sherlock Holmes (or some other detective style game) & the Amico controllers would be perfect for the wacky Inspector Gadget gags

I can hear it now: "See this is a great multiplayer game for up to 4 kids on the Switch, sure beats the Ouya 2 ya!"

[What you won't hear] You would need 4 Switches and 4 Karts for $1200 (or $1600 for full size Switches).  Fun for the whole Rockefeller family!

Cool AR technology though, hats off to Nintendo for making something different in the gaming space.
